    Description

    Hi workawayers,

PLEASE NOTE: Calendar is closed for April but we actually have a week (2-8 April) that we could still welcome someone. If you are looking for a host for a week. We would happily have you on these dates. Otherwise, the normal commitment is a month plus. Thank you for understanding!

Are you planning to visit Honduras? Don't forget to visit us!

We need mostly English speaking volunteer teachers to stay for one month or longer. Do you not have a month time? Just message us and if we have the space, we would happily welcome you for less time.

We are looking for passionate, lively volunteers who are interested in sharing their knowledge and enriching the lives for students . We want people who have any types of skills- dance, singing, teaching, arts. We want our school to be alternative, embracing creativity in our children.

We would like someone with some experience in teaching but do not worry if you don't, just willingness to learn.

If you are interested, please send us a message with a little about you and the dates and we can organise a call to chat further.

You will have your own room and lunch during working hours. (M,T,W,T,F).
Accommodation: You will stay at Carol house.

Our Town: Ocotepeque is a lovely pueblo surrounded by mountains and is located near the borders with El Salvador and Guatemala. It is a quiet town with beautiful landscapes and friendly people. Ocotepeque has a public park, a small movie theater, an outdoor produce market, and hiking routes among other things.

Please note: Most of our reviews are from our previous project 'our little red house' which was a much bigger project. Now, after the pandemic, we are starting small with just a small English club after school hours.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

My name is Carol, I am the one who created the English Club. Before this, we had a bilingual school (quite big) which unfortunately closed during the pandemic. Now, we want something at a smaller scale.

Ocotepeque has access to pretty much everything, you have mercados for fruits and veggies, 2 supermarkets right in front of our house, many walking routes, good mountains to do trekkings, connections to Guatemala and El Salvador, etc. You will have fun here and it would be an amazing cultural experience for sure!

This place is a safe and quiet town located about 10 minutes from the El Salvador border and about 25 from the Guatemala border. There are many tourist attractions in the area which volunteers often travel to, including the Mayan ruins at Copan, the famous church at Esquipulas, Guatemala, the Pacific coast of El Salvador, Bay Island, Roatan and Utila and more.

The nearest Airport is San Salvador airport but buses pass everyday by here. I can help you figure that out.
