Description
Welcome to our Arctic Chalet Adventure! ❄️🏔️
Hi! We're Estelle and Enguerrand, a French couple who followed our dream of buying our own private cabin in the heart of the Lofoten Islands, near Svolvær.
This cabin is our home and personal life project not a commercial business. We're slowly renovating it ourselves while embracing a simpler life surrounded by nature.
We're looking for open-minded, curious and easy-going people who would like to share this adventure with us. For us, Workaway is all about cultural exchange, learning from each other, sharing everyday life, exploring the Lofoten Islands, cooking together and creating unforgettable memories.
If you love nature, simple living and meeting people from around the world, we'd love to welcome you into our Arctic home. 🌊🏔️✨ -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
For us, Workaway is much more than exchanging a few hours of work for accommodation. It's about sharing experiences, stories, cultures, and creating genuine friendships.
Living in the Lofoten Islands is a unique experience in itself. On your days off or whenever our schedules allow we'd love to take you along to discover some of our favorite places. We often spend our free time hiking in the mountains, exploring hidden beaches, kayaking through the fjords, fishing, watching the Northern Lights in winter or enjoying the midnight sun in summer.
If you'd like, you're welcome to join us on these adventures. We love sharing the simple joys of life in the Arctic: campfires by the sea, homemade dinners, cold plunges, cozy evenings, road trips around the islands, or simply sitting outside with a coffee while admiring the incredible scenery.
You'll also experience what everyday life is like in a small Norwegian fishing village, far from busy cities. Life here moves at a different pace slower, quieter, and much closer to nature. It's the perfect place to disconnect from screens and reconnect with what really matters.
We're always happy to share our skills too. Between us, we can teach you about carpentry and woodworking, renovation techniques, photography and filmmaking, yoga, mountain life, outdoor adventures, and living sustainably.
But what excites us just as much is learning from you. Every Workawayer brings their own culture, recipes, traditions, stories, ideas, and way of seeing the world. We believe that's what makes these experiences so special.
By the end of your stay, we hope you'll leave not only with new practical skills, but also with unforgettable memories, meaningful connections, and a little piece of the Arctic in your heart. -

3 ways you can join the adventure
Creative Projects
We're looking for people who enjoy DIY, being outdoors and creating things with their hands.
As we slowly renovate our own home, you'll help us with simple projects such as painting, sanding, assembling furniture, organising materials, light woodworking and other everyday DIY tasks. You'll always be working alongside us, learning together and sharing ideas.
Enguerrand has years of experience in carpentry and renovation and loves sharing his skills with anyone who's curious to learn.

🌿 2. Creative Living & Everyday Life
Life here is about much more than renovation!
Together we cook, garden, decorate, restore old furniture, sew, pick wild blueberries, organise the cabin and create a warm, welcoming place to call home.
If you enjoy simple living, creativity and spending time in nature, you'll fit right in.
---
🎥 3. Photography, Video & Storytelling
We'd also love to welcome someone who enjoys photography, filmmaking or social media for our private account.
Help us capture this adventure through photos, videos and creative ideas for YouTube and Instagram. Whether you're a photographer, drone pilot, editor or simply passionate about storytelling, we'd love to create inspiring content together.
---
We're not looking for employees, but for friendly, curious people who want to experience life in the Arctic, learn new skills, share cultures and become part of our everyday life.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to welcome you to our home in the beautiful Lofoten Islands. 🌊🏔️✨ -

Accommodation
You'll stay in one of our two private double bedrooms, each with a comfortable double bed, plenty of privacy, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and sea.
As the renovation is still in progress, the bathroom facilities are currently outdoors, with a hot gas shower and dry composting toilets.
We love living in a clean, tidy, and respectful home, so we're looking for people who are happy to help keep shared spaces clean and leave the kitchen spotless after use.
During working days, we'll provide three meals a day. Estelle usually takes care of the cooking, but if you enjoy cooking too, we'd be happy to share the task and discover your favorite recipes!
On days off, you'll be free to prepare your own meals using our fully equipped kitchen. We simply ask everyone to clean up after themselves so the space stays pleasant for everyone. -
What else ...
Our chalet is in a peaceful location, surrounded by nature, yet surprisingly close to everything. It's about 30 minutes on foot to the main road, where you can catch a bus to Svolvær, and only 5 minutes by car from the town center. Svolvær Airport is less than 2 km away, making it easy to arrive and leave.
On your days off, you'll have endless opportunities to explore the Lofoten Islands: hiking, kayaking, fishing, climbing, surfing, mountain biking, photography, or simply enjoying the spectacular beaches and dramatic landscapes. We'd be happy to share our favorite spots and local recommendations.
We live a simple, active, and respectful lifestyle. We appreciate positive people who enjoy nature, communicate openly, and don't mind pitching in to keep our shared spaces clean and welcoming.
Most importantly, we're looking for people who want to become part of the adventure not just help renovate a place, but help create a dream from the very beginning. -

Can host digital nomads
Our internet connection is good enough for everyday use, so digital nomads are welcome. If your work is flexible, it's easy to organize your schedule around the Workaway hours. We simply ask that everyone is fully present and committed during the agreed working hours. Outside of that, you'll have plenty of time to work on your own projects, relax, or explore the Lofoten Islands. We're very flexible and believe good communication is the key to making everyone's stay enjoyable.
