    Hi Everybody!

Our Youth Hostel is situated in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park. It's near the ancient monastic city of Glendalough, a site renowned for its historical significance and natural beauty. The hostel is located about 2 km from the village of Laragh where you can find a small convenience store with an ATM, a restaurant and a pub.

We are part of An Óige, the Irish Youth Hostel Association. We have been providing safe, affordable accommodation and travel experiences to those travelling Ireland as backpackers, groups, or families since 1931. We are a non-profit organization, part of a worldwide network of national organizations belonging to the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF). This entire network, known as Hostelling International, offers more than 3,000 hostels in over 90 countries. Here we have 133 beds and visitors from all over the world who come to stay with us.

If you love the outdoors and enjoy fantastic scenery then this is the place for you.

Covering almost 20,000 hectares (that's 58 times bigger than Central Park!) - you will not be bored, but make sure to bring your walking boots.

Glendalough is a stunning and ancient site filled with stunning scenery, historical monuments and incredible sights. Located at the bottom of a glacier valley in the Wicklow Mountains, the majestic and peaceful Glendalough is a national monument and is one of the most popular tourist spots in Ireland.
A walk through the valley reveals ancient monastic ruins, round towers and a sixth-century monastery founded by St. Kevin. Visitors can also enjoy hikes around the valley, swimming in the two parts of the nearby Upper Lake and experiencing the surrounding natural beauty.

The area is rich in wildlife, so bring a camera if you enjoy nature photography.

Here at the hostel we speak English and Spanish and all our staff enjoy talking and helping each other to improve.

We are looking for independent, eager, and friendly individuals who don't mind doing some manual tasks. We expect fifteen hours of help each week over five days.

The duties involve housekeeping, cleaning, maintenance, and basic gardening.
We treat our staff well and fairly, and we expect volunteers to return the favor by investing their committed time to the job when "on-shift."

The schedule is typically drawn out on Saturdays or Sundays with two days off each week. If you ever need additional or specific days off, we are more than happy to work with you. Our long term staff consists of Andy, Fatima and Eugenio and we're more than happy to help you out and make you feel at home.

Please note that co-habitation is extremely important and we look for Workawayers who clean up after themselves and live well with others. We are a dynamic hostel and uphold a strong work ethic, but always find time for good fun and humor.

✤If you are interested in applying for a volunteer role, please keep in mind that all applicants must be aged 22+ and non-EU citizens are required to have a valid working visa. When getting in touch, please include the month you'd like to volunteer as the subject of your message.✤

    What else ...

We are located in a rural setting with only two buses per day, the service is less frequent in the off-season, so it's advisable to check the schedule in advance.

The weather can be quite changeable, so it's advisable to carry rain gear and dress in layers.

The area around Glendalough is a haven for hikers, with trails varying in difficulty. The Spinc and the Wicklow Way are popular choices.
