    Description

    Hello and welcome!

We’re a warm, fully bilingual (English/Spanish) family based in Spring, Texas—just north of Houston. Our family includes Jeff (a corporate pilot), Paula (a 25-year-old flight attendant), and Maddie (19 and a full-time student), along with our two lovable dogs: Triton and Milanesa. We do have another daughter, Megan. But she's away at culinary school in New York City.

Here’s a fun twist—while we’re a close family, we live across two homes: a large house and a separate townhome about 10 minutes away. Depending on the week, we may need help in either location. Tasks are simple: light housework, some yard work, cooking if you’re into it, and caring for our dogs when we’re away.

You’ll have your own private bedroom and share a bathroom. We offer a relaxed, respectful environment with high-speed Wi-Fi, meals included, and a good mix of family connection and personal space. We love cultural exchange and are excited to welcome someone into our home and lives.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As a bilingual, dual Mexican-American family, we love sharing the richness of both cultures—from language and traditions to food and family life. You’ll experience a unique blend of Texan and Mexican hospitality, and have the chance to practice English or Spanish in a natural, welcoming environment.

Jeff is a corporate pilot and happy to talk travel or aviation if you’re curious. We also love cooking and trying new recipes together—so bring your favorite dishes to share! More than anything, we value genuine connection and the chance to learn from each other’s stories and experiences.

  • Help

    Help

We’re looking for someone to help with light housework, occasional cooking, and caring for our two sweet dogs—feeding, walking, and keeping them company. The dogs live at the main house, so pet care would only happen there.

We travel frequently, so there may be times when you’re housesitting and the only one at home, especially at the large house. During those times, we’d ask you to keep an eye on the home, bring in the mail, and look after the dogs.

A typical week might include tidying up, preparing a meal now and then, walking the dogs, and maybe some light yard work on Saturday. It usually works out to about 16–20 hours per week, and we’re flexible with scheduling. Above all, we’re looking for someone responsible, kind, and ready to feel like part of the family.

This host offers a language exchange
Yes! We’re a bilingual (English/Spanish) household with a strong love for languages. Paula speaks English, Spanish, German, and Portuguese. Madeline speaks English, French, and Spanish. Claudia and Jeff speak English and Spanish. We’re always happy to help you practice English or Spanish, and we’d love the chance to keep our other languages fresh—or learn something totally new! We’re especially curious about languages like Hungarian, Japanese, or Arabic, but we’re open to anything you’d like to share.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You’ll have your own private bedroom and share a bathroom. Depending on the week, you may stay at either our main house (where the dogs live) or our nearby townhome. Both are clean, comfortable, and quiet, with high-speed Wi-Fi and all meals provided. You’ll have privacy, independence, and a welcoming space to call home.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

During your time off, you’ll have lots of options to relax or explore. Spring is a friendly suburb with parks, walking trails, local shops, and great Tex-Mex food. Old Town Spring is nearby and full of charm, and Houston—with its museums, music, diverse food, and the NASA Space Center—is just a short drive away.

Public transportation is limited in our area. Rideshare services like Uber or Lyft are the easiest way to get around, and biking works well for local exploring. We may be able to share our car from time to time, but it’s not always available.

Whether you’re after quiet downtime or city adventure, you’ll find a bit of both here.

We’re happy to host digital nomads! Both our main house and townhome have fast, reliable high-speed Wi-Fi suitable for remote work, video calls, and streaming. You’ll have your own private bedroom and access to quiet, comfortable spaces where you can focus. While we can’t always guarantee use of a car, ride shares are easy and there are nearby cafés and parks for breaks between work sessions.

    Can possibly accept pets

We may be able to accept Workawayers with pets, depending on the situation. Our main home already has two dogs, so bringing additional pets there could be a bit hectic. However, if you’re staying at our nearby townhouse, it might be possible to accommodate a well-behaved pet—just let us know what you have in mind, and we’ll do our best to make it work!
