We´re looking for help with a permaculture project born in 2008. The land comprises agricultural and forestry land, all of which we intend to make productive over the coming months and years.
We keep pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, cats and dogs and bees, all of whom need lots of attention. Long term volunteers will have the opportunity to learn goat milking and simple cheese making when we have sufficient milk.
We´re located in a beautiful peaceful location, but are within walking distance of the village. We're lucky to have a good range of local facilities close by, including wi-fi internet, and are easy to reach via public transport.
Help with Eco project
Current projects include renovating the house, installing irrigation systems including RAM pumps, expanding and maintaining our vegetable gardens, planting native trees, building animal shelters, clearing forest, soil improvement and, well, just about everything else!! There's no shortage of different things to do, and lots of variety. Both skilled and unskilled help welcomed, experience isn´t required. We ask that guests stay for a minimum of two weeks, and preference will be given to those who can stay for longer.
English, Portuguese, Dutch, German
We have camping space and basic caravan / truck accommodation. Live in vehicles very welcome. It's important to realise that our facilities are basic and this is not the place to visit if you're looking for luxury.
We´re happy to accommodate children with prior discussion, and we´re pleased to work with larger groups (eg Scouts, youth groups).
We usually host a number of volunteers at any one time, and run permaculture and related courses in the summer months, so this can be a great place to socialise as well as chill out. We speak English at home, but there´s plenty of opportunity to practice your Portuguese if you would like.
Wifi internet available in local village.
Limited internet access
We have pets

Your hosts live and teach permaculture. Here you'll have an opportunity to experience practical application and be part of maintaining and developing an emergent project.
We attract visitors from around the world so you can socialise on site or walk to our local bar in the next village.
