Description
Cozy and charming home near Aarhus welcomes energetic and curious Helpers!
Hello future Workawayers!
We are a family of 3, Jonas (34), Sofie (32), our lively son, Erik (1). Our family is nestled in the middle of "Søhøjlandet" a sought after area in Denmark due to beautiful nature, hilly landscape and vicinity to Aarhus (the largest city in Jutland), a short 30-minute train ride from Aarhus. The train station is conveniently located nearby our home, providing you with easy access to city life while enjoying the tranquility of our nature and city.
Before settling down, we embarked on a fair share of global adventures. Jonas' family have had exchange students aswell, so he have had an international influence in his childhood home. These experiences inspired us to open our home to globetrotters like you, who seeks to experience what life is like in Denmark, and particularly in Silkeborg in our little family. In 2022, we became homeowners, and our garden is now in need of some love and attention and we always have small indoor projects aswell.
The tasks we welcome help with is primarily making a vegetable garden, which involves a lot of removing shrubbery by cutting and digging, making high beds and shuffling compost. We can also find other task you can take part ind while beeing here as: painting parts of the house, cooking, and cleaning. There's a good mix of tasks that are both fun and challenging, ensuring a rewarding experience! You are welcome to write what you are interested in when you get in touch. We are flexible in regard to the tasks as we wish a pleasant experience for everyone.
Jonas is a digital marketeer, while Sofie is a doctor in a neighbouring city, currently working as a stay-at-home mom caring for Erik. We love spending our free time in the nearby nature, either walking, swimming or paddle boarding on the lakes in Silkeborg.
In our house, we work together as a team to maintain our living space. We share tasks like tidying up, washing dishes, and cooking. Expect to be in charge of dinner once a week, as we enjoy variety in our meals and sharing our culinary traditions with guests. We always dine together, treating mealtime as a moment to bond and share stories.
Accommodation-wise, we have two bedrooms upstairs with toilet on the first floor as well, both rooms are equipped with a 140x200 cm bed, perfect for a good night's sleep. So we are welcoming both, solo-travellers, couples and friends. The kitchen is downstairs and is shared by us.
We are seeking 1-2 sociable individuals who are eager to join our little community, which involves both work and fun times. We are happy to share our knowledge and get you started with tasks, but we also value self-sufficiency as our schedules can be unpredictable. We are looking forward to lots of laughter, cultural exchange, and creating wonderful memories together.
If you are an individual or a couple ready to delve into a Danish family life while contributing to our home's maintenance, we would be delighted to host you!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We offer an opportunity to get to know how we live our daily life and be part of this. We like to focus on time spend at home with each other, relatives or friends. We are working in order to live not the other way around. We really like using the nearby nature as much as time allows.
We enjoy small DIY tasks so if you are not afraid to try new tasks i am sure we can help each other out solving some problems while both learning a thing or two.
We are both very sociable, and like to connect on a deeper level with the people we surround our self with. We look forward to opening our home to like minded sociable people like ourselves with whom we can share good times, fun stories and cultural differences.
Help
Depending on the season we have various tasks in both time and scale.
But we could always use inputs to our cooking, as we are foodies our self and love to try food from different cultures. As everyone else we like a tidy home, but as most others we dont really love tidying up, so a helping hand here would be welcomed greatly.
As of our garden, we dont exactly have green fingers, but we would like to try and have our own vegetables in highbeds, which we need to establish.
If you like swinging a brush, there are always some painting needed to do, either because its worn down or because we would like to try a new look.
As mentioned we are pretty flexible in order to accommodate your skills and wishes, so lets sort that out when we get in touch what could suit both parties best.
