We have a beautiful peace of land in the high jungle close to the village San Ramon, in the province of Chanchamayo, JUNIN in Peru. I am Laura, 32 years old, and I studied tourist administration. I am creating an environmental project in our land, looking for volunteers from all around the world to help with the project and also enjoy being in the middle of nature at it´s best in the high jungle of Peru. Close by there is a beautiful and clean river to swim in, as well as natural pools to get refreshed. The climate is hot all year round, and in winter time (January-April) it rains, but is still hot. The work in the land is hard, and in winter time the working hours are flexible, depending on the rain (we can´t work when it rains hard).
I am looking for help planting plants and trees, taking out weeds, helping with the crops that we planted, building a special place using about 1000 glass bottles that have been recycled, creating an ecological botanical garden and designing a logo. I speak 5 languages (Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and Hebrew), and I love listening to music, doing sports, meeting new people and traveling.
One thing to take into account - the road from Lima to San Ramon (and the Central Jungle) sometimes can get blocked due to mudslides or traffic accidents that may cause delays of the bus trip, so if this occurs you will need patience (this occurs quite rarley).
The arrival of volunteers to the project is Sunday or Monday

I have 3 rooms in our house inside the village of San Ramon, and provide bathrooms, showers and kitchen to our volunteers. I also provide 3 meals a day, usually traditional Peruvian dishes. Maximum 5 people can stay here at a time.
San Ramon is considered "high jungle", and is located 8 hours bus ride from Lima. The nature here is outstanding, with many waterfalls, diversity of animals and plants, butterflies and rivers. I have many recommendations of special and beautiful places to visit while staying here. The house where I host volunteers is in San Ramon- a small village, and our land (where the volunteer work will be done) is about 20 minutes outside of San Ramon.
How to get here: The only way to get here is a bus from Lima. Currently, the best company is "Movil Tours" (Movil Bus). Other companies that are ok: "La Molina" and "La Merced". You need to buy tickets Lima- San Ramon ahead of time (one day before is usually enough, but sometimes the buses get sold out). The company Movil Tours is the only company that sells tickets on the internet. With the other companies tickets can only be bought in cash at the agency (station) of the bus company. The address of the bus company "Movil Bus" is:
Avenida Javier Prado Este 1093 (Accross from "Clínica Ricardo Palma"), Lima.
In order to get to the bus station of the company, you can take a taxi or public transportation (I reccomend a Taxi in this case). Days before your arrive, we will arrenge all the details of the arriving in San Ramon. The address is Urbanizacion Primavera, Calle los Gladiolos 228 ( familia Parra)
A bigger city that's located just 10 minutes from San Ramon is "La Merced". Anyone interested in coming please write me the date you wish to come and about how much time you plan to stay because I can only host 5 people at a time.
All the volunteers help to cook every day for everyone, and we live as a community where everyone helps out with cooking, washing and cleaning.
Necessary equipment for the jungle: sunscreen, repellent, long working pants, long working tshirt, hat. All of these can be bought here just in case someone doesn't have or forgets to bring.
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers

More than two
Maximum 5 hours a day, 5 days a week
In developing countries (Where most hosts are involved in charity work or community development) some of our hosts may ask for a small donation to help the host family or charity (often less then 5 dollars per day) Workaway will allow this listing when the donation goes directly to the family or charity and is just to cover the cost of the volunteer‘s stay. (This will be clearly marked on the host listing).
We will strictly not allow listings posted by agents, “middle men” or projects who we feel are looking to profit from a volunteers stay.
