  • Description

What motivates me the most is adventures, learning from or teaching people of all ages and cultures, art and music, nature, animals, history, and current events. My BA was a triple major in Humanities, Communications, and Teaching English as a Second Language. My minor was Linguistics. I'm fascinated by other languages, different cultures, and hearing the life stories other people tell.

    Fully vaccinated and boosted.

First, I thank God for my good health and my loving family & friends. I keep in good shape and people are surprised to learn my age, guessing 20 - sometimes 30 - years younger!

My Background: For many years, I've taught English, photography, music, bible study, and academic subjects to children and adults. I returned home in December 2023 after teaching English to children and adults in Jelcz-Laskowice, Poland for a year and a half. I still write and make language videos that I send to my students.

I grew up in Minnesota (north-central USA), where I learned how to ride and care for horses with respect. I feel a sacred spirituality with nature animals.

I've had pet dogs, cats, parrots - even reptiles - all my life. I talk to them in their language and mine.

My father was an entomologist, so I learned as a child to take good care of our garden and keep the plants healthy so they don't give way to insects and disease. Now I'm living down the street from Riverside Park where I created a community rose garden beside the freeway and with a neighbor, planted a renewable petunia garden around the statue of Eleanor Roosevelt.

    I've led a varied life.

I moved to New York City when I was 19 to work as a fashion show model. It was sort of fun, but not really my idea of work. So I went back to college, and joined the medical and legal professions. I learned a lot about computers and writing.

I also worked as a receptionist. I have no tattoos or piercings - it's just never been my thing. Nor had much interest in alcohol or recreational drugs.

I adopted my son, Timothy, from Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia when he was one year old in 1998. Of all the wonderful things I have done in my life, being a mother was the most wonderful. I had some of the best times of my life with him and his friends. I was a single parent at the time, which was not easy.

We left New York in 1999 to live in Minnesota again. I learned what it was like to take care of a house by myself. Trees to cut down, soil to bring in, and I created a huge fruit, vegetable, and flower garden. Seeing the seeds you planted grow into beautiful fruits, trees, and flowers is a rewarding accomplishment.

I volunteered as a ski patrol for many years. I volunteered for many years at a senior care center assisting the doctors and providing companionship, including with my therapy cat.

I had studied harp and played in New York. The harp and my harp friends are still important to me.

I also attended art school and worked as a photographer for many years and worked for the Minnesota Opera, ballet, and did other event photography. After the pandemic struck, public performances were not allowed. I needed a new occupation! So in 2022, I added a third major to my bachelor's degree: TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I love school, and studied far longer than I needed to.

All my environments have had their own strengths, and I have positive feelings toward them all. Big cities: Minneapolis, Seattle and New York City, are stimulatingcultural centers. The small, quiet town in Poland that I lived in offered respite and different connections. Growing up, my brother and I spent summers at our grandparents' farm and camping in the north woods of Minnesota. We hunted and fished (including ice fishing). I treasure my memories of the clear, starry skies that can now only be seen far from the big cities.

While teaching in Poland, I traveled to a dozen countries all over Europe and the Middle East. At my age, I'm no longer tied down now to any particular job, and can enjoy traveling and learning new things. The words I live by are simple: Learning new things keeps you young.

  • Age

    72

  • What else ...

I do need to be able to have internet access, because the only way I can connect to my friends and relatives is through the internet.

When I travel, I typically stay in hostels. I like them, because I enjoy meeting people from all over the world. My favorite was in San Diego, California where we sat around chatting at breakfast, and watched movies together in the evenings. Every night was movie night. The Pacific Ocean was right outside our front door. That was so cool!
