My name is Claudia Moreno. Since 2003 am a resident on the Galapagos Islands. Originally I come from Munich, Germany. In Galapagos I am mostly working as a Tourleader, guiding groups of tourists around the Islands.
Together with a group of horse lovers and our volunteers we are working on our project, to help the Horses on the Islands. Horses were introduced by man a long time ago as working animals and now are left abandoned and mistreated by many people of the Galapagos. I am the proud owner of 8 nice horses and which we are working on training.

Through volunteering in the highlands of Santa Cruz, you will experience the true culture of the Galapagos Islands. Giant tortoises roam about in your backyard, guava trees surround the property, and of course you will experience other wildlife and all the beauty the Galapagos has to offer :)
I am looking for a volunteer who would like to help working with the horses and growing the project. I am in need of someone skilled in natural horsemanship and has previous experience working with horses. With our previous volunteers we have made large strides in training and working with the horses, as well as gaining interest from many people of the islands about our project. Educating the people of the islands about how to care for horses is our main goal. Volunteers therefore will also have the chance to join our particular childrens visits, as educating the children is important to form a new horse lover generation.
I have a house available for volunteers, with 2 large bedrooms, a kitchen, and two bathrooms, located directly by the horses! :) Rooms are shared and for now I am unfortunately not able to provide food.
The highlands are 30 min. by car or bus away the harbour and Center Puerto Ayora, which is a nice town. Here you find bars, Restaurants , Shops and travel agencies. also beautiful beaches and visitors sights. In Galapagos you can enjoy marine life by snorkeling or diving,or you can do mountain Biking or explore the highlands and observing the unique Giant Tortoises on a horse. Galapagos wildlife is unique in the world, and as an animal Lover you will find plenty of things to do.
I am a no Smoking Person who likes to live in peace, surrounded by my lovely animals.
