Paula stayed with us for two weeks. Paula is reserved and has a gentle spirit. She helped with raking leaves and cleaning the pool. She was a hard worker who worked well with other volunteers and also independently. I wish Paula all the best in her future and recommend her to other hosts as well as prospective employers.

Claudia and volker are two kind hearted amazing human beings. I am happy I met them and very grateful to have spent some time at their beautiful place. The work varies so you don't get bored, you still have a lot of free time to explore the beautiful island of La Palma and the communication with the hosts is clear and honest. The little wooden house is clean, tidy and you find there everything you need for your daily life, plus you have a lot of privacy and beautiful views! Thank you very much Claudia and Volker I am honored to have met you both. Lots of love

I have had such a good time at Joanna's! I can highly recommend this place to everyone who loves dogs and cats. They are affectionate pets and quite independent too, although I had to pick the oldest up by car from time to time ;). If they were not roaming off, they'd sit or sleep beside me on the terrace or in the living room around the fireplace. So cute! The house is such a cosy Spanish family home, with a big kitchen and a lovely garden. I enjoyed taking care of it as if it were my own. There are many wonderful hikes in the area, even two gorgeous ones that start right at the doorstep. Villages with supermarkets are closeby, but you do need to be able to drive there. Joanna made me feel so welcome and she radiated confidence. This felt so good!! I could easily reach her by whatsapp for any questions. She also has a lot of humour and interesting stories to tell, so I'm grateful that we also got to spend some time together before and after her holiday. I'd love to come back here. I truly enjoyed everything about this workaway experience! It was a firsthand experience of life in the Spanish countryside:).

It was a wonderful experience hosting René and Rowena at our school. They were friendly, positive, and very motivated to help the children learn English. The students really enjoyed their classes, especially the games and fun activities they prepared. Their energy made the lessons lively and engaging. They quickly became part of our small community here. They were respectful, responsible, and easy to live with. We enjoyed sharing meals, conversations, and showing them around the village and nearby places during their stay. Our students were very happy to learn from them, and we truly appreciate the time and effort they gave to support the school. Thank you again, René and Rowena, for your kindness and help. You will always be welcome back to visit our school and family anytime. We wish you safe travels and many great experiences on your journey!

Anna and Patrick were really kind to invite me to stay with them, even though there wasn’t really much work to be done since it’s winter. And as their review highlighted, the weather was not very kind during the time I was there, so we spent most of our times indoors. In spite of that, I had a wonderful time with them (they were such interesting and warm hosts, it’s hard not to enjoy their company), and even managed to try my hands at a few new things including spinning wool and making felt from the fleece of the sheep they owned. Home-made wool! Who would have thought?! We had several hearty discussions, usually over a sumptuous meal prepared by Anna and/or Patrick, often being entertained by the then-newest addition to the farm (they have had a few new lambs since I left), frisky little Grisha, and always under the watchful eyes of the ever-attentive and gentle Itcho. My stay with Anna and Patrick marked a perfect end to my first chapter in the world of Workaway. Looking forward to the next, hopefully in the third quarter of 2026. Don’t know where I would be heading but one thing is certain, I can’t wait to hit the road again to meet more amazing and inspiring hosts and fellow Workawayers! Travel safe, everyone!

We highly recommend staying with Doris and family if you have the opportunity! We were made to feel comfortable and part of the family as soon as we arrived. It was our first Workaway experience and it has certainly set expectations quite high for future stays! This made us even more grateful to be staying with such a warm and welcoming family. We were lucky enough to see plenty of sun during our stay and enjoyed doing some work in the garden as well as a bit of painting. Doris was very encouraging of us exploring what Bavaria has to offer, especially its many natural beauties, and was kind enough to give us many recommendations for hikes and sightseeing in the area. This really blew our breath away, such a magnificent spot nestled within the mountains! We loved getting to know the whole family and really appreciated the many interesting and enlightening conversations had around the dinner table. Time spent playing with Ellie in the evenings was a real pleasure - we were in awe of her imagination! We can’t thank Doris and the family enough for providing us such a warm and fulfilling first Workaway, we hope to stay in touch!

Overall the experience was good, the work was varied, we helped out at a few different guest houses, doing mostly manual labour, cleaning and painting, getting things ready for the winter. We also got the chance to learn how to replace Shoji paper in the Japanese style doors. Our hosts Lianne and Sam were very nice and helpful, they have an adorable cat called bonkers who lives up to her name. Togari is a very quiet small village however it does get busy when the ski season begins. There are a few local restaurants and a local convenience shop. The accommodation was acceptable, it does get very cold and drafty inside however there is a heater for each room which heats up quickly. Upon arrival, Lianne met us at the bus stop and took us to the supermarket so we could buy our own food. We had to clean and tidy our accommodation when we arrived and prepare the bedrooms for the other workaways that were joining us. We sometimes had access to a car, which we shared with the other workaways. Sam and Lianne didn't mind where we took it as long as we paid for the gas. All in all we enjoyed our experience, time and the people we met in Togari.

For the lazy readers: Amazing first Workaway experience! Hyde and the family welcomed me like part of the household, and between outdoor living, learning the basics of sailing, and spending time with the animals (chicks and cats), I learned a lot of hands on experience from Hyde and had a wonderful month here in Greece on the beautiful property! For the patient reader: I had an amazing time at Hyde’s property. I was the only volunteer during my stay (by choice), and because of that I was really welcomed into the family and felt like part of the household from the beginning. It was great to live mostly outdoors (even in February!). As I was camping, they really did their best to accommodate me and even prepared a bed for me in the container, which became my cute little home for the month (Sophie's trailer). There was a nice routine: we usually worked in the mornings, and on good sailing days we would go out on the water. Hyde is very passionate about sailing and he definitely managed to transmit that passion to me while teaching me the beginnings of sailing. The work was varied, which kept things interesting. I did a bit of everything: helping install a rain pipe drainage system, cleaning the outdoor kitchen, pressure washing, clearing and organizing sheds, isolation in the ceiling. It felt good to see the progress of the projects and contribute in different ways. Sometimes we had slightly longer working days here and there, mostly because I liked to finish a project once I had started it. Hyde always made sure this was balanced out though, and we compensated with extra sailing time. This place is exactly as described in the profile: nothing is hidden or exaggerated. If you respect their way of life and the rhythm of the place, it will be an amazing experience. This was my first Workaway and I learned a lot. I’m already considering coming back for a visit, also because I’ve made some new friends: the cats and the chickens.

A perfect introduction to workaway! Bill and Cam have really set the standard for our workaway experience and will be tough to beat. We wanted to experience living in Australia that wasn't city life, and this place offered just that, a beautiful hobby farm with a little family of animals. We learned about the differences in living in a culture where being more resourceful and sustainable is an essential part of Australian culture. We worked on projects that were reusing building materials in imaginative ways, learnt how to "pantry" cook, how to grow vegetables and herbs and care for animals. The farm really is a place to call home as well as learning and having independence. Bill and Cam are very interesting people with great careers and experiences to share. They are very easygoing and reasonable. The farm itself is a great location for beaches, small towns, forest wondering and surfing. They had a selection of surf boards for us to use, which was ideal on our days off. We shared our experience with some other great work awayers, trying all different origins of cooking, games, and ways of culture. A great way to meet like-minded people and share different experiences and knowledge of travelling. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, so much so we returned for another stay. A very memorable part of our tour around aus, we hope we can return again in the near future. We would highly recommend to anyone who is keen to learn, good work ethic and experience working out of a 9 - 5!

Right from the start of my time with Simon & the family I felt very welcomed. Both Simon and K are very hospitable and put in effort to assure you're comfortable. The kids are very well mannered and good to hang out with, playing laser guns is especially fun.. if you're okay with losing they're really good. The work load is very manageable, all the animals are fun to be around and the food from K is top notch. Any help you can give is appreciated making it worthwhile to put in extra efforts to help out any way you can. All facets of this experience make for a great time in the relaxing hills of Kibichuo, one I would recommend to anyone interested and one I wont forget!

I would welcome Gabriele back onboard anytime.  He's a young guy but very mature, hardworking, respectful, repsonsible and personable.  Lots of funny stories to share and I'm sure many more in the making.  We had three weeks of suffering through dirty, dusty, loud work, grinding, sanding and painting of the hull on hardstand.  Always a great attitude whether it was for the work or exploring the area. For life onboard he's got a great balance between being chill yet mindful. He takes care of what needs doing with no fuss. Really makes life easy for the captain. Clever in the galley too. Whipped up some great meals. He'd make a great addition to anyone's team.

Alina stayed with us at my place in Bangkok for three weeks and was a truly wonderful volunteer. She has a very kind, thoughtful, and gentle personality, and it was immediately clear how much she genuinely loves dogs. During her stay she helped care for 15 rescue dogs and even shared her room with three of them, making sure they felt safe and comfortable. This requires patience and dedication, and she handled it with great care and compassion. Alina was very attentive to the dogs’ needs and always treated them with kindness and respect. Rescue dogs often require sensitivity and understanding, and she showed both naturally. The dogs quickly trusted her, which says a lot about her calm and caring nature. She was also very respectful of the home environment. She kept her room very tidy throughout her stay and kindly cleaned the room carefully before leaving, which we truly appreciated. It shows her thoughtful and considerate character. It was a pleasure to host her during these three weeks. She brought kindness, responsibility, and positive energy to our home and project. We highly recommend Alina to any future host, and she will always be welcome back at my doggie home ; )

As one of our winter season long staff members Ross stayed with us long term. A winter season is a tough gig at times and really requires patience, flexibility and a cooler head than my own. Ross never let us down here. Ross was a fantastic team member and an even better individual. Ross's ability to adapt throughout the season to the working conditions and the household was nothing short of perfect. Ross's attitude is calm and collected and we can see excellent leadership qualities in him. We were able to trust Ross with duties that required confidence and critical thinking at times in which he adapted to fast and excelled. Ross not only mixed well with others but openly joined in on everything and was extremely supportive. We can all use a Ross in our team.

We had an amazing time staying with Sokear and his family and teaching at his school. We taught 2 English classes every day (~4 hours teaching, 1 hour of preparation) and really enjoyed spending time with the kids and see how much fun they had learning English. For teaching you don't need to have any experience. An intermediate level of English and fun working and playing with kids is enough. Also, the two main teachers Lin and Sen are always there to help. We slept directly at the main school and were provided with a private bedroom and bathroom. Sokear and his family made us feel really welcome, shared plenty of time, laughs and dinner partys with us and showed us around the village. His wife Seanet cooked very delicous und fresh every day. On the weekend Sokear even took us on a full-day trip where we visited a farm, an old temple and went swimming in a pagoda. We can fully recommend this workaway to everyone. Thank you again, Sokear, for this great time. We will come back!

Ben stayed with us for about a month, and honestly it felt far too short. He integrated into the family very naturally and was always ready to help in any way he could. He was proactive, conscientious with the animals, and consistently delivered his best without cutting corners. Whether it was daily work or unexpected tasks, he approached everything seriously and with a great attitude. Beyond the work itself, Ben’s personality made him a real pleasure to have around. He is easygoing, thoughtful, and simply a very positive presence in the house during both work and relaxed moments. At one point my wife and I asked him how his wife ever manages to get anything done around the house, since she must spend most of her time simply admiring the fact that she’s got Ben around. When he told us he didn’t have a wife, my wife and I just looked at each other in disbelief and said, “What?!” In any case, we can confidently award Ben the Steve Irwin Award for Ozzi excellence with animals and general good spirit, at least until we meet a better Australian, which seems highly unlikely. We would happily welcome him back anytime.

Fabian & Franceska were very helpful during their stay. They are easy going, kind, and generous with their time. Their professionality, logical planning, and tons of computer work really made a difference for us. They helped with a lot of things that advanced our project and were quite flexible when plans abruptly changed. They are a joy to host and an asset to the workaway platform. I recommend anyone host them for your projects.

As 1 of our long term winter workaways, Kassie joined us as a staff member for the season. When interviewing Kassie I was quite sceptical because of her age however she was understanding of our reservations and promised to not let us down. To live onsite with management and other staff for what is a essentially a rollercoaster of a season is not easy. Kassie exceeded all our expectations. Kass's attitude towards work, her willingness to listen and learn and her flexibility to adapt to situations with weather and other commitments were a standout. Work aside Kassie is an excellent human, her patient and chilled personality was a perfect fit for our household. What impressed me the most about Kass was her open minded approach and confidence to try anything. We were very grateful to have hosted her and we sincerely hope to have her again one day. Whether its in a team or solo we highly recommend.
