I had an amazing two weeks stay with Lorraine and Warwick and couldn’t have asked for better hosts. They are incredibly welcoming, kind, and easy to get along with, which made me feel at home from the very beginning. The work mainly involved helping with the maintenance of the property and surroundings, and the workload was very reasonable and well balanced. Their home is well maintained, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the meals were always delicious. I also had the chance to share this experience with other travelers, which made my stay even more enjoyable and memorable. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and positive throughout my time there. This Workaway experience would be a great fit for anyone looking for a meaningful experience with warm, welcoming hosts in a great environment.

Working with Marian was a delight. She is very experienced as a gardener, and socializing with her is pleasant. We strongly recommend her to other workaway hosts!

This was my very first time in Nepal, and staying at Uttam’s guest house made it truly unforgettable. From the airport, I took a local bus to Dhulikhel following Uttam’s guidance, which was already a great way to experience daily Nepali life. I stayed for 7 days, and during that time Uttam and his nephew Sahadev welcomed me like family. Both of them are not only passionate mountain trek guides but also genuinely kind and inspiring people. The guest house is located in the peaceful countryside of Dhulikhel, surrounded by nature with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. It’s the perfect base for exploring, whether you want short walks or longer hikes, everything is close by. The city center is also within walking distance, so you can easily balance nature and local culture. During my stay, I joined a couple of other volunteers in helping out with cooking, cleaning, and small tasks to improve the place. We shared many memorable moments together hiking to nearby villages, enjoying authentic Nepali meals (including delicious homemade dal bhat), and having long conversations over breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The accommodation was comfortable, and the atmosphere always felt warm and welcoming. What makes this place extra special is that Uttam and Sahadev are experienced mountain guides. They can help you plan treks across Nepal, which is incredibly valuable if you’re looking to explore the Himalayas. Overall, my experience here was wonderful, and I would highly recommend Uttam’s guest house to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Nepali culture, nature, and hospitality. I’m grateful for the time I spent here and look forward to meeting Uttam and Sahadev again, whether in Nepal or somewhere else in the world!

I came for 2 weeks… and stayed almost 3 months ! I can only recommend Carol’s place. I was really happy to contribute to her project, and learned a lot about how using new tools for renovating. I enjoyed working in the beautiful garden, doing mud plaster, painting, and all the different tasks. Carol is patient, happy to share her knowledge and fexible about the schedule. She is also an amazing cook, I felt spoiled ! The appartment where I stayed is absolutely lovely and has an independant entrance. And the surroundings of Cherven are really beautiful and unique. I had the chance to do several walks around and really loved it. I already miss the place, the tribe of cats and Mango, the happy dog !

I had a fantastic week staying with Graeme & Debbie! I really enjoyed getting stuck in with the gardening and Graeme taught me so much about permacultures and food forests. They are a hardworking family with a passion for the garden trail and the workshop events they host which you can read more about on their website: Northland Edible Garden Trail. I felt very appreciated, and also had a lot of free time to enjoy walks nearby. Thank you for welcoming me into your home, I have a newfound appreciation of gardening and fresh food!

It is a comfortably quiet space with nice people and options for movie night and braai. I think that the people there are really cool human beings that make a good and chilled work Atmosphere. It is close to the beach and has a really nice view from the Terrace. I could have my quiet morningcoffee with my book a chilled work time and a nice socializing in the evenings with Staff and guests when you feel like it. I enjoyed my stay a lot because I think cool people is really important for volunteering. Thank you people and hope to visit you again one day.

Gesa stayed and helped me with my horses and on the property for 2 months at the end of 2025 and after only 1 week it felt like she'd been here for much longer. It was a pleasure to have her here. Gesa can be trusted with the horses and is an excellent horse person and horse rider. She very clearly cares about the horses well-being, has extensive horse experience and is also safety conscious. Gesa learned about all my individual horses (15!), their special needs and other tasks exceptionally quick and well. She has strong work ethics and kept her accommodation (cabin) clean. Overall Gesa is very easy to get along and work with, she is smart and has common-sense. She will always be welcome at my home. Wishing her well.

I just finished a month volunteering with Miss Marga in Galle, and will likely return some day as I enjoyed my time so deeply. It was a great balance of helping out but also getting to explore Sri Lanka- especially Galle. ****I do not recommend doing this workaway position if you are looking for something shorter than 4 weeks**** I stayed for 4 weeks, and it is really in the 3rd week you get into the groove with the routine and the classroom role. I assume it is better for everyone involved in you can stay for 4 weeks or more! Marga is great. She really allows you to have your freedom, but also is very happy to help you with anything when/ if you need it. I fell pretty sick my 3rd week and could tell she cared, checked up on me, recommended me where I should go if I want to be seen by a doctor etc. The students are wonderful and connecting with them is very fulfilling. Her admin at the time of my position is a very sweet and gentle Sri Lankan girl named Adeesha. The house is in a beautiful location, my room and balcony were lovely. I already miss this experience just one day after leaving. Definitely recommend this for someone who is looking for a cultural experience, to connect with local people, to help in a classroom, and is looking to grow. If you are wanting more of just a place to stay I would recommend looking at volunteering in a hostel or guest house instead! ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you Marga, I will forever cherish this experience.

Shan Shan and Yien were so lovely and stole our hearts. They lightened up the place with their positive presence and fit in very well with the other workawayers and both of us. They tried hard and were autonomous and stress free. We are grateful for their contribution. We really miss them and hope to host them again some day.

Staying at the Dhamma Centre with Luangmae and the bikkhunis was our first workaway experience. What we thought would be far outside of our comfort zone was surprisingly comfortable due to the peace and serenity that was radiating from everyone and everything. Yes there were spiders, lizards as room mates and spotted some snakes outside, and cold water for showers but those are all minor details. We felt a true sense of belonging with the things we could contribute. The talks and meditation practise we had with Luangmae were a great insight into Buddhism. We have taken with us a sense of peace and mindfullness that will remain with us forever. Most of all we hope to return.

It was a wonderful experience working in this cozy, peaceful, and natural place. Hà, Tofu, and Nguyệt, as well as all the lovely volunteers, always created a harmonious and loving atmosphere. The farm provides a great balance to traveling around, offering many opportunities to get involved, contribute help and ideas, and connect with people, but also gives the space and retreat one needs. This time truly fulfilled my heart. Thank you for everything! 🌞

I stayed with this lovely family for 2.5 weeks and I wish I could have stayed longer. It was my third workaway experience and honestly the best one, they made me feel at home like no one before. They're so welcoming and caring, they showed me love with both gestures and words and helped me in multiple occasions. I love their mentality, how they're not judging and always open to listen and help anyone. The kids are so active and curious, I loved going to the beach, playing in the swimming pool, jumping on the trampoline, baking, watching movies and playing board games with them. I also became friends with their 17yo son who included me in his friends group. I really felt seen and appreciated and I'm gonna remember them forever❤️

What a truely wondeful experience! The work with the kids was so much fun and every day looked a bit different, which I liked. The volunteer house is a very welcoming home surrounded by the jungle and close to everything you would need. The host is a very warmhearted abd caring person who took great care of the volunteers. I absolutely fell in love with the island! Amazing beaches, nice people and not overrun at all. Thank you, I hope to come back one day.

Lorenzo spent several weeks with us over Christmas. My family took to him and he was invited to all our family gatherings and fit right in. He did whatever was asked and did a good job. Our dog greeted him at the door with a wagging tail and a toy - he loved his walks with Lorenzo. I found him to be a very caring, and respectful person and we enjoyed having him. He is welcome back!

Thank you so much for your beautiful and thoughtful help. Your words truly touched our hearts. It means a lot to us to know you. You felt welcomed and at home with our family—that is exactly what we hope every guest experiences. We’re especially grateful that you connected with our vision and took the time to understand our way of life, the challenges we face, and the purpose behind our work with the community and young people. Knowing that the experience left such a lasting impression on you makes everything we do feel worthwhile. Thank you for sharing your energy, openness, and kindness with us. You will always be part of our family, and we hope our paths cross again one day. With gratitude, Gabriel & Florence

Jordan and Jack only stayed a few days but made a positive contribution during this time. Jack helped with a few carpentry tasks and Jordan did a great job preparing wooden doors and painting. They are a friendly and respectful couple, with a positive attitude and useful practical skills. We'd definitely recommend them and would be happy to host them again.

I cannot even put into words how amazing this entire family is. Ashi and Ramin are gifted , kind , patient, thoughtful ,amazing parents and living expressions of everything that is good in the world. They are like a breath of fresh air and eternal sunshine. Their house is a home full of love, music , childrens giggles and the aromas of some amazing cuisine from Ashi's native India and Ramins Iranian roots. I so enjoyed helping with their daily tasks so they could have more time with their precious little ones.

Definitivamente recomiendo a Melanie!!!

Sarah and Lilli spent 8 days at Manakau Hideaway, and were the perfect Workawayers: industrious, methodical, friendly, outgoing, happy to do whatever jobs needed doing, and get up at 5.30am to help with marketing our plums. They were more than happy to tell us what it is like living in Alaska, which to us seems like the end of the Earth! They were very adept at Bananagrams, a game we really enjoy competing against Workawayers. But most of all, they were just fun to host, having an interest in everything we did here on the orchard. We wish them the best of times in their remaining time in NZ, and hope that one day they might return.

Spent a week at David's and really enjoyed it. Was my first Workaway experience, and I travelled by myself. David and Annie are such a lovely couple, and the 3 other volunteers who were there were a great group. We worked for a bit in the morning, went for brekkie in the village, chilled for a bit, had lunch, chilled, and then worked from 2pm, by which time it had generally clouded over (thankfully). I did a lot of digging! It was tough, and I was tired every day. But there were less strenuous jobs to be done also. Despite being tired, I still found time for a game or two of volleyball in the evening. The farm is beautiful and it was a great way to experience Vietnam. I'd love to come back and see how much trees (and David and Annie) are doing!
