A charming garden with colorful flowers blooms behind a rustic stone wall. A house and tall trees frame the background under a bright sunny sky.
This cozy room features a single bed with colorful patchwork blanket, soft beige pillows, a fluffy rug, small table, two chairs, bright window and curtains.
Two children stand on a grassy hillside overlooking a scenic beach and ocean. The sky is cloudy, waves roll in, and distant dark hills frame the coastline.
A family of four, dressed in rain jackets and boots, stands together in a lush, rocky forest. They appear happy, exploring nature on a rainy day.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We love sharing our place with a wide range of other people and cultural exchange opportunities include events with other homeschool families, local environmental projects, garden workshops, crop-swaps (events where the local community all come together to share produce and knowledge), social events and family outings. We learn so much ourselves from having others staying with us. The population of Northland is 50% Māori so there will also be opportunities to learn about Māori culture and some te reo Māori language.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for help in our organic food forests and gardens. We will be doing tasks together alongside each other and sharing skills so no previous experience is necessary, but you will need at least moderate fitness. We are experienced gardeners and our interests include sustainable living, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, food forests, edible landscapes, seed saving, syntropic agroforestry, biodynamics and Maori organics (hua parakore). There will be lots of opportunity to learn and exchange knowledge and ideas,
