We had a great experience with her as a volunteer. She was responsible, friendly, and always willing to help. She connected very well with guests and the team, had a positive attitude, and completed her tasks with care. We truly appreciated her support and would happily recommend her.

Before meeting SJ and Diwr, when we were exchanging audio messages on What'sApp, I was impressed with their clear communications with me. It was a great way to begin, and gave me confidence to have them come to my farm. A friend, who has had volunteers through WorkAway, had told me to not have volunteers who are under 25 years old. SJ and Diwr proved that to be wrong. SJ and Diwr are mature young people and it was a pleasure to have them around. As I write now, they have been here for over seven weeks, in two sessions. My experience with them has been 5 star. They have been very easy to work with. I am a 75 y..o. man, and it has been like having my grandchildren here. They are quiet and respectful of me and my personal space. They have gracefully endured the challenges in their living quarters, as we bumped into and solved problems that I was unaware of. SJ and Diwr have an excellent work ethic; always on time for the work day, always willing to do what I needed done. They enjoy working together, and did the tasks that I had for them better than I expected, going above and beyond. I highly recommend SJ and Diwr.

Wowowow. How could I possibly put this experience into words? I have been bragging about my time in the Ariege for months! This was my first Workaway experience, and I couldn't be happier with it. Ian and Noemi immediately took me in as a member of their family. Work was varied, though we focused on the carpentry side of things (I'm a carpenter), but I got the sense that they would cater to anyone's abilities and strengths. We aimed for 5 hours shifts with a nice long lunch in the middle of the day, but some days were shorter, and some days were field trips! Work was very straight forward, well communicated, and never stressful. They also made a big effort to introduce me to their friends and neighbors, who were all super lovely despite my horrible French speaking skills. In my free time I often went for long walks to neighboring villages, sometimes on bike rides to further villages (thanks Noemi!), and sometimes on very unique adventures- like a hike in the Pyrenees, and even a trip to the local circus (thanks Ian!). They also took me to a Tango class! In regards to their hospitality, I feel super grateful to have chosen these two as my hosts. I had some life stuff going on and they were so kind and understanding and intuitive about giving me support and space. When I moved into Bussie, it just so happened to also be a nice warm place for a few resident spiders to keep warm in the fall season, which I did my best with, but eventually I ended up moving into the house for my final couple weeks which I am incredibly grateful for Noemi and Ian for being so accommodating. The bus was stunning though and so private and well located on the property, and I did enjoy my time spent there. The river is only a few steps away, as well as a pool and lovely outdoor shower. Lastly, I just want to comment on Noemi and Ian's characters. I feel like I made true friends during my stay in the beautiful Ariege, and though life still persisted despite our plans to spend so much time together, I feel that their humanness made me feel so comfortable, and they were so patient and caring. The food was INCREDIBLE - the meals were often a large spread of dishes, mostly garden fresh - thanks again to Noemi for all of your efforts, and Ian as well on the days Noemi had other plans! I am so grateful for this experience and for really getting to witness the culture of this special area of France, with the most exceptional hosts. I would love to come back for a visit, and would highly recommend reaching out to these two beautiful souls for your next workaway! Love, Kaitie x x x x

Charles was absolutely fabulous, a real joy to have around and very funny. Both my husband and I liked him very much and would happily recommend him to anyone. He’s a hard worker and was a great help to us. We would have him back anytime and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

My time in this project was truly special. From the very beginning, I felt like one more member of the family. This family is incredibly loving, open-hearted, and unique. They touched my heart, and after spending time with them, I feel that my soul is fuller and deeply rewarded. They are truly special people. Living off-grid with them is not just volunteering, but a meaningful life experience. Daily activities are shared with intention, warmth, and care, and there is always something to learn. Their way of living, based on simplicity, cooperation, and respect for nature, is inspiring and grounding. Thomas is very knowledgeable in homestead, building and self sufficiency, and Jacintha’s warmth and ability to hold community and family life together gives the place a beautiful balance. The atmosphere of the home is full of care, music, shared meals, and genuine connection. I met most of their family, and they are really lovely people with very special names! I am deeply grateful for this experience and for having met such extraordinary people. I would highly recommend this project to anyone seeking an authentic off-grid experience, human connection, and a slower, more conscious way of living. Much love. Neus

Ladina stayed with us from October through December 2025. And we miss her already! She settled so quickly into our busy life, had in no time a clear understanding how all the elderly animals needed to be treated with all their different meds and treatments. She became especially attached to Archie, our senior rabbit but no animal - great or small - posed a difficulty for her. She was also a great help in the house, confident when cooking meals, super efficient cleaning and always with a big smile. We had so much fun playing cards in the evening, doing crafts and Christmas cooking and baking. Time simply flew by. We give her the BEST references and hope very much to see her again soon, even if it is for a shorter time or just a visit!

I spent six weeks on the farm with Katelyn and Marguerite. It was my first Workaway experience and I couldn't have imagined anything better. Every day, I fed the horses in the morning and evening. The rest of the work was always varied, which kept things interesting. For example, I got to do groundwork with the ponies, groom them, or ride them in the arena or the forest. Sometimes we stacked firewood for the cold winter days, worked in the garden, or I helped Marguerite frame her paintings for her art exhibitions. I lived in a small house next to the main house where I had my own room with a view to the horse paddocks. Katelyn's teahouse is also on the farm, and it's really beautifully decorated. There was leftover hot chocolate and crêpes almost every day. Meals were cooked twice a day for everyone, either by Katelyn or together with the other volunteers. I really appreciated how much trust Marguerite had in me when it came to the horses. I really enjoyed being able to work so much with the horses and ponies. I would definitely come back anytime and would highly recommend this Workaway placement to horse lovers.

I travelled to the Hacienda in NoV 2024, I stayed one month The landscape was breathtakingly beautiful and authentically Peruvian from the bus drive to the hacienda itself it felt like a huge party, at times like a huge community, when we gathered around the fire place for example , and other times like a crazy dog world the tasks were very simple from cleaning tasks to creative tasks to cooking, from taking care of the dogs and brushing Bob, Shrek and KillBill absolutely beautiful souls! I also have met my now partner at the hacienda :) he took care of the animals with a lot of dedication and was there for some months! we both look back with a lot of gratitude for the place it is truly special thank you Luis! an idea for the future travelers is maybe include like a Spanish class at times for people who want to learn Spanish :)

My wife and I spent 3 amazing months at the casa! Michael was clear with his communication and expectations. We learned a lot in the garden while also having a good balance of our own time; exploring the valley or just happy staying on the property and soaking in the beauty… and you’d be pressed to find a better view than his place! The people (& Condor) were absolutely amazing - the Sacred Valley attracts certain persons that we found to really enjoy and have so much to share and learn from. We will greatly miss them all and definitely be back in the future! Our days were typically 4 hours of work (seeding, transplanting, weeding, building, making organic fertilizers, or anything else that needs doing), with a break. Every afternoon and weekend is yours to enjoy. The volunteers stay in a separate house on the property with access to everything you need. Despite there being a fluctuating number of volunteers in the house, we always felt like we had plenty of space and time to ourselves. We highly recommend the casa

Although her time with us was short, her impact was truly profound. She dedicated herself to painting a mural that carries deep Incan cultural significance, transforming it into something unique, authentic, and incredibly powerful. This artwork is more than just a mural—it’s a living piece that will endure, and its meaning will continue to resonate with everyone who visits for years to come. Beyond her artistic talent, she brought a warm, comforting, and down-to-earth presence. She was friendly, easy to talk to, and a genuine joy to have around. Her energy enriched our space just as much as her work did. She is always welcome back, and I wholeheartedly recommend her for any future projects—any host would be fortunate to have her.

Philip is a super cool guy and an amazing volunteer who was up for every task going. He works with diligence, enthusiasm and initiative, and finished through on everything he started including jobs that were very physically demanding. He immediately became a popular and essential member of our community and we would have him back in a heartbeat if he ever asks. We can strongly recommend him for a position either voluntary or otherwise in any community.

Our stay at Jonathan and Teresa's farm was a very good experience, especially considering that it was our first workaway. We spent more than a month in this pleasant place, surrounded by orange, tanger, walnut, almond trees etc. The place of our hosts is a very special place and the tasks are quite simple: feeding the chickens and ducks - a task that was the delight of our daughter; clean the canals - being close to a canal of the Ebro river this area is quite floodable, so the ditches need to be clean; maintain the place. Also, as we have been in December, there is not much to do either, except the aforementioned and prune some trees, level some parts of the orchard... The place is very generous: we eat fruits and juices daily and even the few eggs that the birds lay. We have lived in this time with two very nice Moroccan girls, excellent cooks and very good company. Jonathan, Teresa and their daughter Alicia (who is a very nice, very good and well-educated girl who had a great time with our children) come on weekends and cook for everyone and it is like a big party with friends and a very good atmosphere. Fire, music and wonderful people. We had a very good connection with Jonathan and Teresa and Moha, a friend of Jonathan's (with him and the two Moroccan girls we spent some very nice evenings). I will also add that everything is very clean and although it rained a lot and it was cold for a few days, we did not have any problems. That is why I want to thank our hosts and tell to those interested in passing through here that it is a very recommendable place. Ah! I think Dongo, the tangerine eater, will miss his morning walks. Thank you to the three of you and hopefully we will meet again! Big hugs

it was a joy working with Umit, we worked well together as a team. He has a good sense of humour . Really enjoyed his farm always something to do, and if he was not around it was easy to keep myself busy. As it was lambing season my wife looked after the new borns that needed a bit of help feeding. She also liked to spend time with the 3 dogs, and really enjoyed her time in the kitchen with Umit were he really excels himself.

Midori-san is a very lovely host, she communicated well and helped me organise fun things to do during my stay in Fukui. The house is a little far from the city as described in the profile, but Midori-san kindly drove me to the station or picked me up from it when she was working in the city, which made it much easier to get transport to various sightseeing places. I was able to meet some of her friends and learn from them, including a calligraphy lesson and a tour around Eiheiji, along with talking to some of her friends to help them practice English. My work time at home was spent on vacuuming, helping cook, and cleaning dishes - it's a big household so there were a lot of dishes to be done! The kids were mainly busy at school or other lessons during my time there and doing their own thing in their bedrooms when they got home, plus my Japanese is not very good, so I found it difficult to build a relationship with them, especially since some of them are quite shy. But Midori-san didn't hold that against me, she understood that it could be difficult. Her English is excellent, and her husband's English is very good too, so I was able to communicate with the two of them easily. I had my own room in the house, and in fact it was on an otherwise empty floor, so there was plenty of space and privacy when I was doing remote work. Since I was there in winter I got to see snow, but it was very cold!! Midori-san kindly provided heating options in my room to help me get through it, and always offered me the warmest spot in the living room when we ate dinner together. Fukui was a very interesting city to visit, and I would love to visit again one day!

I had a great time with Stef and his kids. He has created a beautiful place for himself and it was a pleasure to be able to help out. His workshop is equipped with all the tools needed for the various tasks on offer, and equally the kitchen is well equipped for those inspired to cook or bake. There was a good balance between time spend on tasks and time off.
