  • Description

My husband and I, with 6-7 other individuals onsite, live and steward a completely non-profit retreat center in Cody, WY just east of Yellowstone National Park. We are right in town beside the airport with a lot of land, horses, mountain views and snow that comes and goes (unlike the rest of Wyoming during the winter). We make sure the buildings are kept warm during the winter with occasional visitors since most people come in the summer (May-September). There is a library, chapel, art gallery and a large art studio to create, as well as many trails and a prayer labyrinth on property. It is a very peaceful place.

We have community dinners 1-2 times a month on property as well as yoga and meditation classes that the person is welcome to join. These offerings will be free along with a private floor and private entrance for the individual. The town has a nationally acclaimed Western Art and Native American museum, free to visit through the center. It is the epicenter of American West Culture. We also have community gathering talks about importance of land preservation, Native American culture, sacred Wyoming land sites etc. The retreat center welcomes lots of conversation and outings to know the area. Trips to hot springs, skiing, snowshoeing could happen, if there is interest with various people on property. It is a great place to write, work on art in the studio, find a quiet and stillness as desired.

  • Help

Our need is a short term or long term property overseer during the winter weeks and months (November-February) as it fits with someone's schedule. This involves walking the 2-3 non-occupied buildings each morning and evening. As a staff and community, we hope to do some winter DIY household projects that the person might be asked to join once a week. This role is for someone who is independent, perhaps working on their own project or enjoys adventuring because there is a large chunk of freedom in the middle of the day on most days.

There is a first-floor studio, with a private entrance for the individual. The lodge has fiber wifi. They will have their own kitchen and cooking set. Some basic supplies will be offered for food. We will take weekly trips to the grocery store by car (3 miles away) or they can use the retreat center's car to run to town. We sit right above town and even with snow can easily get to town for food, coffee or entertainment. Cody, WY is a beautiful little but robust town of culture.

    What else ...

Hiking is right out your backdoor as well as all over town. There are 5-6 people on property that go to and from town at different times each day if there is a need to go in. The downtown closeby is very walkable once there. There is a coffee shop to run to from the retreat center just one mile away. The airport also sits 1.5 miles away. The lodge you will be housed in is very peaceful and private. The main lodge is where we mostly gather for community meals 1-2 times a month. We are looking for 2-4 week stints (or if desiring longer, lets talk about it, depending on the person).

The help needed can be done any time and welcome someone who is working remotely. This is a great location to pair with someone wanting space in a beautiful place to work on a project or their field of expertise, remotely.
