I have had the pleasure of helping Kirsten look after her property on several occasions. Swan Cove is a small piece of heaven owned by an angel! The jobs around the beautiful house and garden are interesting and varied. Kirsten is the most wonderful and inspirational host you could ever meet. Her bubbly and compassionate personality, along with her knowledge of gardening, the unique local environment, food and personal health and wellbeing provided me with memories that will last forever. I thoroughly recommend a workaway with Kirsten at Swan Cove.

Claudia stayed with us for four months during the winter season, and having her here during this time was truly a gift. From the very beginning, she became a reliable and steady presence in our daily life. She carried out her tasks with great care, responsibility, and independence. Whether it was keeping the house tidy, clean and organized or supporting with the garden work during the quieter winter season. We could always trust her completely. But beyond her work, Claudia brought something much deeper to our place. She became part of our tiny community and shared many beautiful moments with us. We celebrated Christmas and New Year’s Eve together, and enjoyed countless cozy pizza parties, which turned into something of a tradition. Claudia is an amazing vegan cook, and her pizza and lasagna are already deeply missed. Yet even more than her cooking, we miss her gentle, kind-hearted presence, her calm energy, her warmth, and her natural willingness to help wherever it was needed. Having Claudia around simply felt good. She added a quiet, genuine quality to everyday life. She will always have a place here with us and is warmly welcome to return anytime, both as a volunteer and as a guest.

It was a very great time with all of people of the community. We learned a lot with them, in construction, to make a natural pigment, astronomic tour with Caito, lesson of bee-keeping with Manolo and in the community way of life. They shared with us lots of meals, (very good !), nice moments in the river, camp fire with burgers, and music in live with beautiful voices and sings (mention special for Waldo with "el perro pes" the hit of the community. Thank you to everyone ! The place is very beautiful, in the forest with a beautiful river to swim. It's very quiet and calm to enjoy the nature (trekking, bike, rafting...).

Breanna and Aiden was a wonderful couple, great personalities ! We knew we can absolutely trust them from the first time we had chat to introduce each other. Unfortunately we did not have more tasks for them other than sitting our dog Shake as it was obvious that they were smart, ready to help and enthusiastic about this opportunity. You are lucky if they choused YOU as their host! We hope to host them again at some point. They are always in good mood, flexible, respectful and easy going and ready to help. What else one could wish for?! We wish if we they could stay longer with us Until next time, stay well and take care!

Lukash(Raki) is a great fellow, always into a joke and generally a pleasant guy to have around! He’s knowledgeable about many things and anything you’ll ask him to do he’ll approach with enthusiasm! We had a great month together here with a group of volunteers and he was definitely a person to encourage the others to give the best of themselves ! Highly recommended Workawayer!

This was our first Workaway! We had a fantastic time with Elly and Werner. The work was really well structured - we had breakfast together, then worked for 5 hours, then Elly made a wonderful lunch and we all ate together and chatted and shared stories. Then we had the afternoons and weekends off. We mainly did gardening and painting. There is a nice separate house for volunteers. We overlapped with 2 other workawayers who were really nice. Would highly recommend this Workaway!

Natalie was a wonderful host with a warm and inviting home. She prepared delicious home-cooked meals, thoughtfully catering to my vegetarian needs with dishes I’ll always remember. Her three energetic children brought so much life to the house. I spent most of my time with Luna, their daughter, reading, painting, building with LEGO, and exploring the village together. Luna is truly a beautiful soul. Natalie was very helpful whenever I had any queries or questions. We all attended a rollerblading class together, which was a delightful experience that reignited memories of my childhood, even though I haven’t rollerbladed much as an adult. There were also lovely swimming pools to enjoy on one of my days off. On another day, I ventured to Leon, making the most of Natalie’s thoughtful recommendations. I marvelled at the grandeur of the cathedral, discovered captivating art museums, and strolled through lively street fairs, where I found two beautiful jumpers. I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful family to anyone; they are truly delightful.

My experience with Joep and Julia was truly excellent. They are amazing hosts, and one of the things I appreciated the most was the clarity in communication and how well organized everything is. The daily routine is very clear and enjoyable. We usually started around 7:00 am by checking the common areas, doing some light cleaning, sweeping, and taking care of trash and compost. Around 8:15 am, we shared a wonderful and abundant breakfast together with Joep and Julia, which was always a great moment to connect. Then there was a short break around 10:00 am, and we would finish the workday at 12:30 pm. This schedule gives you plenty of free time in the afternoons and full weekends to explore the area. Joep is excellent at organizing the daily tasks and planning the work in a very efficient and structured way. Everything feels smooth and well thought out. The location is incredible, with many amazing places nearby. There is a beautiful trail that goes to Barichara with stunning views, the Camino Real to Guane, Salto del Mico, and many other places to explore. One of the highlights of my stay was the tour of the property. Joep explained in detail the renovation process of the house, using traditional techniques like tapia pisada, and the impressive stonework throughout the construction, which makes the place truly unique. He also shared a lot of knowledge about water management and the development of an edible forest, along with many other fascinating aspects of the project. I 100% recommend this experience. I’m very grateful to Joep and Julia for the opportunity to be part of their project and for such a meaningful and well organized stay.

I had a super nice and interesting 2 weeks here! Everyone (owner, teacher, employees, ..) is very kind and helpful. With Miguel, the volunteer coordinator, it is very easy to comunicate in several languages and you get a detailed program (Monday-Saturday) in advance. I attended mainly conversation nights/afternoons, but also gave small presentations, and visited local schools. The experience was wonderful! I was able to meet many locals, who invited me for activities and even to their homes, and I learned a lot about Colombian culture and how people from the region of Cauca live and what they think. That made my stay in Popayan so much more authentic! I also had the time to visit places in or close to Popayan in my freetime. E.g. Silivia (which has one of the nicest fruit/vegetable markets of Colombia), Puracé National Parc or a free walking tour in Popayan (which I recommed a lot). I also got a free drink and some of the snacks from the café ,and the room incl. private bathroom just next to the café was convenient since it is located in the center of the old town. Last but not least: I felt safe the whole time, even when walking through the streets after dark (even though I’d been advised to be cautious) Thank you so much Miguel, Alfredo and everyone else for this wonderful experience!

I had a really great experience with this host family. They were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always willing to help, which made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. The atmosphere in the house is very relaxed and peaceful, and I truly enjoyed spending time with them. Having your own car definitely gives you more freedom to explore and be independent, but even without one, it’s not a problem at all. They are more than happy to give you rides when needed, and there is also a lovely community around, which makes everything easier and more enjoyable. Overall, I felt very happy and well taken care of during my stay. I would absolutely recommend this Workaway experience!

I spent a week with Paula and Ramon and felt very much at home. It was an inspiring week! Together, we looked at the various projects and tasks that needed to be done on their property and brainstormed ideas. In the end, I built a dry stone wall for a future path. I really enjoyed the work. They trusted me with my knowledge but also supported me wherever they could. They’re also very well-equipped with tools and machinery. In return, Ramon taught me how to weld. Besides the work, they introduced me to the Italian culture and their beautiful home, with trips around their land or to the weekly market. They also welcomed me to fun pizza nights with friends or just sitting together with nice talks. The two of them are a creative, inspiring couple and still have lots of cool ideas and projects they want to bring to life. Thanks again for your hospitality and the wonderful time:)

I had a wonderful experience staying with Lee and her family. She is incredibly welcoming and thoughtful, and her cooking is amazing, no surprise since she’s a professional chef. I especially enjoyed spending time with her in the kitchen and joining her on grocery trips. The daily tasks were straightforward and manageable, mainly taking care of the pets, vacuuming, and keeping the space tidy. I also appreciated having plenty of free time after finishing my morning responsibilities, which gave me the chance to explore the city. The house itself was comfortable and conveniently located, just a short walk to the train station with easy access to the city. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to stay in such a warm and secure home in Melbourne. Thank you again for having me! 😊

Through my second Workaway experience and one-month stay, I learned so much about the Afro-Ecuadorian community, their history, their struggles, and their incredible resilience. I had the privilege of connecting with such a kind and welcoming community. The families there, along with Geovana (the leader of the organization), received me with open arms. She truly felt like a mother away from home. She took care of me when I was sick and made me feel so special on my birthday. Everyone else also made me feel like part of the community, inviting me to social gatherings and including me in daily life. I'm grateful that I was able to contribute by assisting with English classes and by offering social media insights and suggestions to help raise visibility for their causes and strengthen their presence in Cuenca. Even if my part was just a small drop in the bucket, I'm glad I could support their work in a meaningful way. I definitely plan to stay in touch and hope to visit again soon!

Margaux joined us in Costa Rica for three months in 2025. She taught Math, English Language Arts and ESL. She is a disciplined, thoughtful and simple exceptional teacher. She added so much to my project and to the lives of my students who adored her. Additionally she helped me save one of my foster dog’s life which is obviously above and beyond. For such a young woman, she is wise, witty and healthy. I recommend Marguax for any project, especially teaching, work with kids of any kind and also saving animals 🥰

We were very pleased to have Daizha as our first Workawayer! She made valuable contributions during her time with us. Daizha helped organize cultural activities, took photos and videos at various events, and assisted with editing and organizing the files afterward. She also participated in our weekly English class and provided helpful technical support whenever needed. We truly appreciate her positive energy and willingness to help. We wish her all the best on her journey, thank her for her contributions, and hope to welcome more Workawayers like her in the future.

Keiley and Fynn were a joy to host! They very quickly fitted in and were keen to work. We had lots of fun times cooking, making cheese and baking bread. Fynn perfected his focaccia by the end and was enjoyed by everyone. They were both considerant , friendly, funny, enthusiastic their love of horses and birds was very compatible. A night reciting banjo Patterson poetry and the man from snowy river, whip cracking and lassoing was a highlight for us and memories to last , we really enjoyed your stay and gratitude for your help,
