    Description

We are a non-profit, Afro organisation based in Cuenca, Ecuador, working on projects in communities across the country.
Our work focuses on the empowerment and education of Afro-descendants in Ecuador, connected with other Afro-activists across Latin America.

We aim to raise awareness of the challenges facing Afro communities, while also increasing visibility for the products and services they offer, work that is often overlooked. We provide resources, guidance, and a safe space for Afro people to share experiences, learn from one another, and organise for collective action.

We are seeking volunteers to join us in a range of roles. Tasks may include:

-Helping organise and facilitate workshops for youth and adults

-Supporting educational outreach to promote understanding and visibility of the Afro community

    -Assisting with English classes

    -Grant writing and research

-Content creation, social media management, and campaign support

For some of the communities, it's necessary to have basic Spanish or a willingness to learn.

Volunteers should be prepared to commit to a minimum of one month.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Volunteers will immerse themselves in the daily life and culture of Afro-Ecuadorian communities, gaining firsthand experience of traditions, history, and contemporary realities often overlooked in mainstream narratives. They will have the opportunity to share their own cultural knowledge and skills while learning from local activists, artists, and entrepreneurs.

Through hands-on involvement, such as supporting Afro-owned businesses, participating in workshops on Afro history and culture, and engaging in language exchange, volunteers will deepen their understanding of the Afro-Ecuadorian experience within the broader context of the African diaspora.

They will also build meaningful connections with community members and gain insight into grassroots organizing, collective action, and the power of global solidarity among Black and Afro organizations.
