Henna stayed with us in January and shared part of her time here with another volunteer. They got along very well, supported each other in daily tasks, and also explored the city together. Henna has a calm, introverted personality, but she is kind, available, and helpful. She communicated very well in English and understands some Portuguese, even though speaking is still more challenging for her. One of the highlights of her stay was a presentation she gave to our community about Finland. She shared interesting cultural aspects, such as the origins of Santa Claus, the Northern Lights, sauna culture, and daily life in her country. It was very enriching and well received by everyone. We also shared simple daily moments together — going to the swimming class, visiting the local market, cooking (she made a nice soup one day), and playing cards. Overall, it was a pleasant and harmonious experience, and I wish Henna a beautiful continuation of her journey.

My experience at the hostel run by Inge and Boris was very nice overall, I've spent around one month with them and I have met beautiful people (clients, volunteers) , we had great moments together- there were many experiences that enriched my life, Inge's creative activities and hospitality were very integrative, both Inge and Boris are very nice persons, we managed to successfully deal with all the tasks that were part of my work. I am very grateful for all. I highly recommend. Still I am giving only 'Good' review feedback due to the profile description: a. regarding the sleeping space and the corresponding attached photos - it was/is mentioned that we sleep in a bedroom with bunk beds or separately, but in reality the bed was in the mezzanine in an open space or ..later..in a semi-bedroom and this greatly affected the quality of sleep and rest. Although I agreed to stay even with the current conditions once arrived and being led by my volunteer drive, in the end Ive realized that it was a mistake- I overworked myself. b. the confusion related to the voluntary participation or not in the apero evenings once a week which led to a pressure and too many justifications for us to return to understanding each other in a natural way Conclusion: when we stay in truth and clarity it is the best for everyone involved. Best regards, Sumy

We had the pleasure to host Luigi for a little bit more than a week in January and we could not ask for a better fit for a last minute arrangement. Even if he had not specific background in farm life, he took to all tasks with energy, good will, manpower and excitement. Luigi is a lively soul and always on the side of sunshine, song and whistle. It was great fun for everybody here to have him around for a while, the animals also loved the extra attention he provided. We can definitely recommend Luigi for a stay, he will never complain about a task or shy at getting his hands dirty. Only because of his help we have been able to set up the traps for the procession caterpillars on time this year. We hope he enjoys his time in Portugal and has a lot of good encounters on the way.

Meltem and her family so kindly welcomed me into their home even though I contacted them at the very last minute and could only come for a couple of days. Even in that short time and rainy weather, they showed me many places in Hatay, taking so much time and care to explain to me the culture and history of their homeland. I met many of their friends and family, enjoying countless cups of çay and endless tatlı. The kids have amazing English and are incredibly open, fun, sweet, thoughtful, and smart; a combination of both their parents 🥰 The Workawayer's room is spacious, clean, comfortable, and you have full privacy. The house is a really cozy and a lovely place that makes you feel right at home. It is located right within their friendly village that’s about 5 kilometers from the city center. The city is very interesting to see and learn about since it is still a complete construction zone even though it's been years since the earthquake. The ‘work’ is natural and easy; helping clean as needed and playing with the kids. I felt like a part of the family there, even in such a short time. I am amazed by how open and patient they are, hosting and meeting so many different people. I admire what you're doing so much! I wish I could have stayed longer to know you even more. Çok teşekkür ederim, görüşürüz 💛

Wow! Luke and Maricel and ourselves thankfully connected via Workaway, providing us with a fantastic, never to forget experience After a delayed arrival, owing to ourselves being unwell, both Luke and Maricel unperturbed by the delay, turned up, tuned in to our way of thinking, working and socialising in a way we could never have imagined. They assisted us primarily with pruning vines, a repetitive task that they took to with relish. On rainy days, without insisting, we found Luke chopping wood and Maricel deep cleaning the accommodation with gusto. Vines were finished in the rain, even after we suggested holding off for a while. What a truly wonderful pair of human beings they are, we loved sharing our time outside work together. We cannot remember feeling this sad before when people left us. Luke and Maricel will always be welcomed with open arms here, without hesitation. Thank you both so so much!

This was my first workaway experience and I was really lucky that I could stay with Ramon, Claire, Alexandre and two cats. They love Japanese culture, so we talked a lot about it and I could experience the amazing cultural exchange. I did mostly cleaning the house in the morning and preparing dinner. In the afternoon and on weekends, I enjoyed Montpellier or Sète and I sometimes borrowed a bike to view the sea. It was also a wonderful memory for me to stay at home and spending time with the cats or playing games with the family. They helped me learning French with great patience and kindness. I really appreciate that. Thank you for the great experience. I will definitely come back to Montpellier!

I lived with Eraldo's and Kamala's project next to the beautiful Valle Bendetta for 2 weeks in January. The weather was mostly Sunny or cloudy with a slight chance of rain. A good and warm place for a Finn:) Edaldo and Kamala are such nice people living in The calm Area of Valle Bendetta. Every day was an amazing Day, some different work in The farm or The villa, something new to learn about The Area, work or the people, and a little bit of own free time as well. Eraldo is a calm and funny person who i had a nice time speaking to about everything. Kamala is a loving and a caring person. One should also not forget The beautiful dogs - a friendly Sunny and a little shy Pioga🥰 Not forgetting The super nice workers i got to work with on The farm. A positive Sven and a sweet Maria:) Also a nice place to get to know other workaways around the world living in the same House as I. As for The days in The Area. Relaxed Mornings working in a good company in The farm (Beds, compost, many wheelbarrels and some tidying around) or The villa (tidying, helping, cleaning). A tasty lunch in The host's home. (Thanks Kamala) In The afternoon a little work with a full stomach. And nights free to enjoy the nature next to the small town. For me  a good relaxing getaway, enjoying the peace and quite of a small town while everyday was a little different as the previous one. Thank you so much and hope to meet again!

Meganne stayed with us for about 15 days. She is French and speaks English and Spanish. She arrived always on time and took good care of the space, which is very important for us. She was reliable regarding schedules and daily routines at the Refúgio. She connected well with another volunteer and with some people from our community, and we shared nice moments playing cards and small games together. It was also a good opportunity for me to practice some French again. Meganne has a light and humorous personality and adapted well to living with others. Overall, it was a calm experience, and I wish her well in the continuation of her travels.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Vanessa, and she was beyond lovely, incredibly handy, and truly helpful throughout her time here. Vanessa beautifully organized yoga classes, dance and song sessions, morning circles, and musical awakening sessions for kids. Each activity was led with joy, care, and creativity. She also helped animate workshops and organized a special creative atelier with a writer, guiding children in learning how to write their own stories — a very meaningful experience. She also cooked many delicious homemade Italian signature meals, which we enjoyed sharing together and which brought so much warmth to our daily life. Vanessa generously shared her shamanic culture, as well as yoga and breathing practices, adding depth, connection, and calm to our space. We are happy to say that the adventure continues — Vanessa is now part of the Kids Club family 💛 We highly recommend her to any host.

We had the joy of hosting Angelina here and are deeply grateful for the bright, beautiful energy and constant smiles she brought every day. Angelina was wonderfully helpful with homeschooling, babysitting, and playtime, and the kids truly connected with her. She also shared her creative skills by helping organize and animate a playful scavenger hunt (chasse au trésor) customized for our place. We designed it together, prepared the materials, and Angelina contributed with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. She also cooked a delicious meal — a wonderful chili sin carne that we all enjoyed. Beyond her practical help, Angelina brought a beautiful presence to our home and always offered support wherever needed. We especially cherished our open-hearted discussions about the future, unconventional living, and homeschooling — particularly during our memorable café moments together. These exchanges were inspiring and meaningful. We highly recommend Angelina to any host. Thank you, Angelina, for your warmth and generosity 💛

Freya really helped us out by staying at our home for one month. She looked after the cats and the plants while we were gone. She comfortably navigated daily life alone in a rustic and isolated household. She followed every instruction and respected all house rules. Freya proved herself being a self-reliant, responsible, moderate and trustworthy person, Which is all you want to find in a house-sitter! We are immensely grateful to her.

Axel and Claudia were so friendly that it never felt like we were meeting them for the first time. They were always kind, welcoming, and happy to help. They chatted with our sons in French, which we really appreciated & it was a lovely and natural way for them to practice and improve their French. We spent a truly amazing and memorable time together. We hope you have a wonderful time in India and many more great moments ahead on your journey.

We truly appreciate the five weeks you spent volunteering at our place. You made our Christmas Day very memorable for both the children and the team. The different games you introduced were very educational and engaging for the children. The literacy sessions you led were also very impactful, and the children learned many new words and improved their confidence in reading. Thank you for sharing your time, skills, and kindness with our community. We are very grateful for your contribution and hope to stay in touch.

We had the pleasure of hosting Marie and her lovely daughter Gaïa here, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their time with us! Gaïa brought joy and light to our Kids Club every day. Her bright spirit and cheerful participation in activities truly illuminated the space, and all the children quickly grew fond of her. She contributed to a positive and fun atmosphere that we deeply appreciated. Marie was an exceptional help throughout her stay. She wonderfully organized breathing and artistic expression improvisation classes for the kids, bringing creativity and calm into each session. Her support in animating workshops was valuable and inspiring — both the children and our team benefited from her energy and ideas. We also thoroughly enjoyed our cultural exchanges with Marie — sharing stories and learning about both Indian and French cultures was enriching and heartwarming. On top of all her contributions with the kids, Marie was incredibly helpful and hands-on with daily chores, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. We highly recommend Marie and Gaïa to any host — they are thoughtful, joyful, and bring a genuinely positive spirit wherever they go. Thank you both for your wonderful presence here!

This was my second workaway experience through this site. I enjoyed learning a little bit about permaculture and farming and also about local plants and their uses. Rayan and his father also taught me a little Darija Arabic and some cultural things. I slept and ate very well and I like that it was far away from the excitement of cities. We had a sudden challenge come up where I had to leave early because of climatic issues, but we worked though it smoothly. He's very intelligent and creative and great to work with. I would go back again!

Mallory stayed with us for 4 weeks. She has got a genuine desire to help and make a difference, she supported us with the daily work and is adaptable to new situations and cultures. We wish her nothing but the best on her future travels and would welcome her back with open arms anytime.
