Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our household includes native speakers of several African languages and skilled cooks familiar with several cuisines. We are active in the wider community and there are amazing opportunities to take in extraordinary musical and art shows and performances, and to join in community dances.
Iggy teaches AfroDance fitness classes, and our guests would be welcome to join classes we offer for free. These are super fun high energy fitness classes set to modern and classic African tunes.
Projects involving children

Help
We would love to host friendly folks with basic skills related to clearing land, planting and tending food gardens, and building/renovating. Summer 2026, we particularly would like to have an outdoor enclosure built onto one of our trailers, some digging of veggie gardens and building of raised beds. Iggy, Mike and local friends with building skills will pitch in as well and we'll have some of our community's famous " work parties" to do blasts of clearing and digging. If our workawayer stays through all of summer and harvest season, we'd love to do some canning and preserving with you too!

Accommodation
A one bedroom trailer with own kitchen and shower, and adjacent shared outhouse. Meals are with the family in our house, where you can also access laundry facilities.

What else ...
There is a free community bus during summer months that goes all around the island, and the entire island is easily accessed by bike. We have spare bikes workawayers can use.
We are omnivores and easygoing... it would be challenging for us to host people with very restrictive dietary needs.
