    Description

Hi, I'm Lenny. I traveled a lot when I was younger, but now I can’t travel as much so I’ve been hosting Workaway since 2016 after 3+ years hosting on Couchsurfing bc I enjoy sharing my home with travelers.

Not only will you learn how a tiny, full-featured RV (caravan) is put together, but you'll get to do it in Oakland, just 10 miles (16km) from iconic San Francisco!

My neighbors upstairs also host on Workaway so there are usually other travelers around to explore the area with.

    Help

Initially, my Workaway projects were mostly about renovating a tiny RV (caravan) I’d bought, but that’s mostly complete so nowadays it’s a variety of tasks including household repairs, vehicle maintenance (motorcycles, car and that RV), etc. Tell me what you like to do and there’s a good chance I need help with it. 😊

I have a job that keeps me very busy, so guests must operate independently. Often the tasks are things that I don't know how to do either, so independent learning (Google/YouTube) and ingenuity are required.

Please let me know your skills, and whether you have a clean driving record (because I'd like to put you on the insurance policy for the vehicles.) Otherwise I'll probably ignore the message bc I get many cut&paste "form letters" from people who want to come to California but haven't read my profile.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The sun porch of my home has been converted to a small bedroom by a previous Workaway guest. It’s not very well insulated so in the wintertime it’s “cold” by California standards (50F / 10C). But that’s just for sleeping. You’ll have access to my home and yard.

If you want to come in wintertime (November-March) please let me know that you've read about the nighttime temperatures in the Workaway bedroom.

If you have a clean driving record, I can lend you a car/motorcycle/RV to explore California when you’re on breaks.

I'm flexible on what 20 hours you do.

Kid-friendly cat or dog would be great. My neighbors have a dog that sometimes visits. I had a dog but he passed away so nowadays all I have are fish.
