Eleni joined our school team on very short notice and, although she could only stay with us for one week, that short time was filled with so many wonderful moments. She managed to visit every class and meet all of our students, quickly becoming a familiar and welcome presence in the school. Eleni has an incredibly sweet personality that makes it easy for everyone to connect with her. She is so natural with children — something truly impressive, especially considering her professional background in finance. Her social skills are outstanding. She joined music and drama lessons, played games with the younger students, and had fascinating, meaningful conversations with our middle schoolers. Eleni was active, enthusiastic, and always ready to take on any challenge. She even stepped in to substitute for one of our English teachers, and did a fantastic job. We are very grateful for her time, energy, and positive spirit, and we truly enjoyed having her as part of our team.

I am so grateful to have spent three weeks with Bishwo, Lena, and the entire Village team. I couldn't have wished for a better place to start my trip to Nepal. As soon as I set foot in this place, I felt warmly welcome and like at home. Bishwo and Lena are two people full of love, patience, and compassion. Two hard workers with hearts of flowers and gold. They give their best to the project while making sure that everyone feels good, comfortable, and happy. I have a lot of admiration for all the work, energy, and love they put into the farm. It's just amazing to see how the project is taking shape: for me it's the most beautiful example of people making dreams come true one small brick at a time. Thank you for your trust, your patience, your kindness, your love, and for everything you have taught me. I will cherish the memories of evenings around the fire, card games, jokes, discussions, the sound of Lena's drumming, songs (especially Phulko aakhama, my first one in Nepali), the paint shopping trip to Kathmandu, the 4 triangles with 6 toothpicks, and of course the DJ nights. ;) I send you lots of love and wish you all the best! Take great care and see you soon!🧡

I had an unforgettable stay with Fanny and Solen; as well as Elyne for a few days on the weekend in between her studies and Ben right after he got back from a ski trip. Fanny immediately made me feel at home; She was so welcoming, kind, and curious. I enjoyed helping her cook dinner, during which we had numerous conversations that made me feel like family even after having just met her. We also had a few conversations that helped me practice my French! A few nights Fanny and I played some card games and I'm now on the lookout to find these games back in the US so I can play them with my mom, especially Kanagawa! I love card games and I'm glad I had someone equally as enthusiastic to play them with. Solen and I had some nice conversations where I got to learn more about the Political science she is interested in and her love for the environment. She also explained to me a little about the French education system which I thought was very insightful. I only met Elyne for a few days on the weekend but she was super warm and easy to talk to! She is also an incredible artist and was working on a few pieces when I visited. The three of us had a conversation about scuba diving, partly in French, which helped me practice and I'm grateful for their patience with me. I wish them both the best in all their endeavors! I absolutely adored their cat Mitsy; She was always purring and meowing around the house. She also came and snuggled with me in my bed, which helped me as I miss my cats at home. Luna is such a sweet and cute dog. I enjoyed our hikes together in the Calanques and walks around town. She is very patient and easygoing, especially when meeting other dogs. I also ran with her one day for 10km. I had a lot of free time to go and explore Marseille as well as take a scenic hike through the Calanques, which were breathtaking. The public transportation is easy to navigate from the house. I really appreciate the flexibility in the schedule! This trip is so special to me as I felt truly a part of their family. One night with Fanny and Elyn, we watched l'Amour Ouf in French with French subtitles and I enjoyed the film as well as listen to the comments Fanny and Elyn made in French. It was the perfect end to an evening. My favorite memory is during dinner and laughing about how on my run with Luna, I was the one ahead and pushing to go faster when it is usually the reverse, joking that I could go faster without Luna. I'm incredibly grateful to them for their kindness and hospitality. Merci beaucoup pour tout. À très bientôt, j’espère! :) Elizabeth

I had a very lovely time at the sanctuary. I kind of popped in last minute for two weeks and they were very helpful to organize everything last minute for me. Unfortunately I arrived in a rainy and cold winter period but when the sun started to show after some days I was even more wowed by the views of the mountains!! I wasn't expecting to leave this place with some very deep and genuine friendships. The people staying here are amazing. It was amazing for me to meet so many like minded people. Although you need to be aware that you have to be ready to live in a community and it can be quite difficult to find time for yourself( at least in winter, i guess in summer it's more easy to find a quite place outside somewhere?) I really felt a special bond with some animals and I will keep on thinking about them. Thank you so much<3

This is long overdue, but as my first WorkAway in October 2025, Lauren and Lou were amazing hosts! They were kind and answered any questions I had, and the farmland was beautiful, especially during sunset. The work involved building rock walls, weeding, gathering sticks and shoveling gravel, as well as raking, whippersnippering, and clearing a field of rubbish to prepare for a festival. It was very satisfying seeing how it was instant results, which made it very rewarding at the end of the day. The other Workawayers were very sweet too, and hanging around other queer people was nice. The food provided was delicious as well. I would definitely recommend Lou and Lauren as hosts!

Thank you so much, Harry, for all your help. You’ve been a tremendous asset to us, especially with your technical skills and expertise in using tools to build playground equipment for the children. I also want to thank you for the beautiful photographs you took; they will be incredibly useful for our communications and outreach. The children were so impressed by your friendliness and how approachable you were. Many of them expressed a strong desire to continue practicing English after playing with you. Inspiration is so important, and you truly provided that for them. Thank you again!"

Mandy was a very helpful and committed volunteer. During her stay, she took part in a wide range of physical tasks, including moving and splitting wood, snow removal, demolishing a storage room, cleaning the chicken coop and painting the walls, filling cracks in the walls, general cleaning, and washing dishes. She was reliable, willing to work, and not afraid of physically demanding tasks. Mandy adapted well to life both in Opinogóra and in Kielce, completing the agreed five hours of work per day with a positive attitude. She was calm, polite, and easy to work with, which had a positive impact on the daily atmosphere. We appreciated her openness to new experiences, her willingness to learn, and her positive approach to everyday life in the house and on the property. Thank you for your help and for the time we spent together. We wish Mandy all the best in her future travels and projects.

I spent two months volunteering at this school and it turned into an absolutely amazing experience. From the very beginning I felt incredibly welcomed by the other volunteers, the school staff and the people from the local community. And of course, the children hold a very special place in my heart — working with them was truly meaningful and joyful. Part of the experience also involved periods of construction work, and seeing such big improvements week after week was incredibly motivating and pushed me to give even more. It felt great to contribute to something so concrete and lasting. I originally planned to stay for two months, but time flew by and I ended up staying two and a half months. Leaving was really hard and my heart hurt saying goodbye to this place and these people. I will carry this experience with me and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a rewarding and human experience

I absolutely loved staying with Bara! She is kind, respectful, and a clear communicator who made me feel welcomed right away. Her space feels like a sanctuary - very safe, beautifully designed, bright, and filled with natural light, plants, and gorgeous views of the city lights and miles of green hills nearby. The work exchange was clear and well-structured. Expectations around dog care and shared responsibilities were communicated upfront, and I always knew what was needed. I felt respected, trusted, and appreciated in the role, and the balance between responsibility and autonomy worked really well for me. Her dogs each have their own personality and needs, and caring for them was genuinely a joy. Bara is also a powerhouse businesswoman and talented fine artist, on top of her advocacy for animals - she exudes boldness and authenticity in everything she does. She also is a very talented soup chef, and her garden is spectacular! I was grateful to meet some of her friends during a dinner party and visits, and they reflect the same vibrancy and kindness she carries. Staying with Bara felt like being welcomed into a beautifully designed, intentional life. I will cherish everything I learned from Bara and her lovely dogs :) I highly recommend!

Medhi is a charming young man who was good company and a good worker. He likes to complete a task to the best of his ability. I appreciate that he works until a job is finished and then cleans up and puts away the tools afterwards. His mature attitude is evident in his conversation which I really enjoyed. Go well on your future endeavours, Medhi.

Our Workaway experience at Marty and Lucas’ was lovely! We felt welcomed the minute we met them and they always made sure we were comfortable and at ease. We loved our delicious shared dinners and conversations that always brought laughter. They were even generous enough to let us bake when we had a sweet tooth. Lucas and Marty are such easy-going and comfortable people to talk to, both are so warm-hearted, genuine and humorous. Their daughter Indi is a girl full of energy and kindness, always up for a card game (especially windows). Thanks to Lucas and Marty’s flexibility and caring for us we extended for almost 4 weeks instead of 2. During our stay the work was mostly household, like cleaning and organizing and feeding the animals. Since music was always allowed the energy was always going! Aside from that, we got to see them do cattle work which was fun and a new experience for us. Not having a car, they were kind enough to show us around the area. Among other places, we went to a small town called Crows Nest and got to test out a bakery called My Little blueberry. On our days off Marty drove us to Toowoomba so we could do some sightseeing and for a day-trip we all went to the Bunya Mountains. Their dogs Cleo and Harry were absolutely adorable and always open for a cuddle. They had chooks, guinea fowls, cattle and also bred puppies during our stay that we cozied with everyday. We’ll miss them all! So all in all, we would absolutely recommend Lucas and Marty as a Workaway host, you will certainly not regret it! We hope our paths will cross in the future, maybe see you in Sweden;)

Maleen is a delightful young lady who is willing to try any task that I asked her to do. She worked alongside another Workawayer and they developed team work. I was confident that I could leave them with a task and let them get on with it. I appreciated all that was done and I especially enjoyed the pleasant conversation at meal times and in the evenings.

Nqobile spent 6 weeks with us. She was always willing to get on with the key tasks, even if they were not 100% farm related and was a huge help at a very busy time. She was happy to spend time with the children, cook, clean and help in the garden and she took initiative when there weren't specified tasks. She became part of the family and was present and aware of everyones needs, taking time for herself as well as giving us space. She is incredibly kind and thoughtful with a deep sensibility for the living world. It was a wonderful experience having her here and we definitely recommend her as a volunteer.

Astrid spent three weeks here at the farm in August 2025. She is a straightforward, down-to-earth, friendly and helpful young woman, who doesn't shy away from even the hardest or most difficult work with the animals. She has a great deal of experience with cattle, having previously worked on a large dairy farm. She has a deep love for animals and a natural affinity for them, which is why she wants to study veterinary medicine. She also loves tractors, especially old ones. The perfect and reliable helper on a farm! I can highly recommend Astrid to any farmer! I sincerely wish Astrid all the best in realizing her vision. Thank you Astrid for your visit, your help and your refreshingly positive nature. You are welcome everytime! All the best, Gabriele
