We had a great week with Pauline. She quickly became part of the family and was proactive, noticing what would be helpful and doing it. She helped with the housework, some gardening and running the household.

I had a wonderful experience volunteering here for about six weeks as a teacher. From the beginning, everyone at the foundation was incredibly welcoming and supportive. The teachers and staff create a very positive environment, and it was clear how much they care about both the students and the volunteers. The students were definitely the highlight of my time there. They were enthusiastic, kind, and eager to learn, which made teaching really rewarding and fun. It was also a great opportunity to experience Thai culture more deeply and connect with the local community. The foundation is well organized and provides a great structure for volunteers while still giving you flexibility in the classroom to bring your own ideas and energy to the lessons. Overall, I’m really grateful for the experience and the relationships I made during my time there. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone interested in volunteering and teaching in Thailand. Thank you again to everyone for such a memorable experience! And I will definitely be back 😊

Ines was the perfect guest! She painted and gardened for me and even cooked her homemade French crepes! She and her daughter are such lovely people! Responsible, respectful, active, and so involved! I love that they love Utila and they are always welcome to come back! I hope to meet them one day in France during my travels! Oh and I'm so grateful to Ines for helping me when I was injured! Thank you so much for the wonderful memories!

Staying here has been by far by favourite part of my trip so far. There is such a beautiful community feel here, I truly made friends for life. The work is so fun and laid back it really doesn't feel like work at all and the land is so incredibly beautiful I felt no need to go anywhere else. There's an abundance of activities every day, delicious food, incredible wildlife, and the most spectacular river with multiple points to swim in. The accommodation is really lovely and I slept so well whilst I was here. There's also opportunity to take spanish lessons whilst here which I would highly recommend! Overall I can't recommend it enough, I tell all the other travellers I meet about it whilst exploring Colombia.

We had an amazing stay at Lorna and Jonathan's. They welcomed us with open arms and truly treated us like family. Their home is extremely comfortable and the work was simple; weeding, planting, cooking, or cleaning. The food was delicious and we especially loved Lorna's homemade bread and unique kitchen gadgets. They showed us around New Plymouth and all the activities this cute beach/mountainside town has to offer. We loved sharing stories over breakfast/lunch/dinner with them and will forever cherish our time with them. Thank you Lorna and Jonothan!

I started working with Ashlesha on her beautiful farm last year (2025). It was my first experience at a fully organic farm (or any farm for that matter). I was delighted to observe that Ashlesha truly values the principles of permaculture and tries to apply them on the farm. I got the chance to participate in all sorts of farm activities like preparing soil patches for planting, applying manure, making & installing trellises, harvesting and composting. I also had the chance to eat the delicious Goan food prepared by Ashlesha's mom. Her dad, who is an experienced farmer, helped out with a lot of farm activities. It was great working beside him while learning many practical tricks and hacks. I am really grateful towards Ashlesha and her sweet family for having me on the farm, and introducing me into the world of permaculture and organic farming. Ashlesha and me are now figuring out how to process the produce from the farm, and are also preparing the farm for efficient water and soil management during monsoon. Anyone who wants to get their hands dirty with us, is more than welcome to join us! See you at the farm!

I had a truly memorable experience staying with Bee and Soy in their Ger. From the moment I arrived, they welcomed me warmly and made me feel at home. They shared delicious traditional Mongolian food and gave me a wonderful glimpse into their culture and way of life. I especially enjoyed helping to feed the cows, which was a unique and rewarding part of the stay. Even though the winds were strong at times, the atmosphere inside the Ger was cozy and full of hospitality. Bee and Soy are kind, generous hosts, and I’m grateful for the chance to learn from them and experience authentic Mongolian life. I would highly recommend this Workaway to anyone looking for a genuine cultural exchange.

I've spent 9 days at this wonderful place, which is a refuge for animals, especially for horses. With regards how to handle horses I came as a greenhorn and I was welcomed anyway. Here are 22 horses, seven or eight dogs and a cute male goat. My underdeveloped behaviour towards them was carefully 'corrected' by Claudia. She explained to me how sensitive animals in general, and horses in particular, are. She taught me how to communicate with them just using my hands. I tried to adapt. The second day there was a parade in Puerto Ayora where Claudia and her organisation were supposed to participate and to show about their work. That was interesting. I had to be part of that parade. People on the sidewalk were applauding us. My major task was to cut grass with a machete every day. Aside of that I walked Laika, one of the dog, and did some repairs on the horses shelter. I experienced Claudia as a very friendly and welcoming person, who has a deep understanding of the need of those animals, and aside of that she knows how to use the healing influence of horses for therapy, energy work and yoga. I encourage everyone who is interested in helping that the horses of Galapagos will always find a home. It's really worth it. When I went around the meadows I saw the giant turtles which is just amazing watching them among the horses or on the streets or anywhere else. Thank you for this extraordinary experience, Claudia!

I stayed at this place for about three weeks. The place itself is located in beautiful nature and the surroundings are truly special. It is quite secluded, about 20 minutes from Bocas Town, which can be both a peaceful aspect of the location and something future volunteers should be aware of. There were also some wonderful people and aspects of the experience that I would like to highlight positively. The guests were generally lovely and it was always nice interacting with them. The dog Vampi was an absolute joy to be around, and Juanita, who prepares the breakfast, was incredibly kind and welcoming. She really made mornings a lovely part of the day. However, there were several challenges during my stay that future volunteers should be aware of. The expectations regarding work and responsibilities were significantly higher than what I understand to be the usual Workaway guidelines. The role often involved a high level of responsibility that felt closer to a full job than a volunteer exchange. Another difficulty was the collaboration with the on-site maintenance staff member. As a female volunteer, I experienced several situations where my privacy was not respected. On multiple occasions he entered my room without prior notice. In addition, agreements regarding guest transfers and work around the house were sometimes intentionally ignored, which made coordination very difficult. I tried to address these issues through several conversations. My colleague, the manager Richard, and the owner Sara also attempted to resolve the situation, but unfortunately the cooperation did not improve during my stay. The communication style within the workplace was also challenging. During my stay I witnessed several situations in which staff members were spoken to or shouted at in a disrespectful manner, and I experienced similar situations myself. This atmosphere did not improve even after the owners, who are usually not on site, had left again. Because of the overall situation and working environment, I decided to end my stay one week earlier than originally planned. It is also important to know that it is still a very new project. During my stay it was the first time the owners were testing whether the property could operate without a manager on site. In practice this created a lot of additional responsibility for volunteers. There were frequent technical issues with electricity and water. The property relies on solar power and a generator, and we often had to deal with problems with the system, sometimes late at night. It was often necessary to turn the solar system off and on again or run the generator to restore power. Towards the end of my stay there were also situations where water had to be rationed and temporarily turned off for guests due to shortages. Future volunteers should also be aware that the location is only accessible by boat. Transportation is organized with the house boat, but volunteers are expected to pay for each ride, even when it is done by the on-site maintenance staff using the property’s boat. Accommodation for volunteers is something that should be clarified in advance. There is not always a dedicated private room for volunteers. When the property is not fully booked, volunteers may sometimes stay in a guest room. However, when the rooms are occupied by guests, the sleeping options for volunteers are very limited. The alternative sleeping arrangement is a loft-style bed in a small storage/laundry room, which also contains a toilet used by other staff members, so there is very little privacy. Another option that was suggested was sleeping in the living room area with the dogs. Food arrangements are also something that volunteers should clarify in advance. Breakfast is not included as a prepared meal for volunteers. While it is possible to use some of the breakfast ingredients, volunteers are expected to prepare their own food. In addition, volunteers receive around $50 per week to buy groceries. However, during my stay I had to repeatedly ask for this money, and it was not clearly communicated who would provide it or when it would be given, which sometimes led to delays. Overall, while the location itself is very beautiful and there are some truly lovely people there, the working conditions, accommodation situation, communication style, and level of responsibility were not what I expected from a Workaway experience. Future volunteers may want to clarify expectations, accommodation, food arrangements, and responsibilities in detail before committing to a stay.

Mark and Maz were generous and kind hosts. The common spaces they provided for volunteers were nice and their property is beautiful and peaceful. They always made sure volunteers had plenty to eat and were generous with the delicious fruits and veggies they grow. The work felt productive and I'm glad to have been able to help with native forest restoration. The other volunteers I met were wonderful and this was a great place to be able to explore the Motueka area.

An absolutely incredible and amazing experience. Truly wonderful hosts that are caring and nurturing. They have fantastic communication and are excellent teachers for new skills and will happily help you find the best places to go on the island. They have excellent English, and I would highly recommend having good conversations with Liron and Niv as that they have both lived fascinating lives. As experience would go, they provide not only the best but anything else. The area is best able to be visited with a rental car but they do live near many great hikes

Isabella was an excellent workawayer, she was a joy to host. Isabella had a great work ethic and she was always happy and positive. I would highly recommend Isabella.

I was great time have this family stay with me, Emily and her kids are so flexible to adapt our local life, Emily she is helpful and always wish to get involved in help with cooking, she been help together with kids in the garden. She simple and understanding person, you can not get tired to stay with. Our speaking English was not perfect but she try to understand us and our situation. We already miss her and we have memory and experience that we learn from her as a mother hope we will be life friends and meet again in Tanzania.

We enjoyed having Mat and Casper helping out. They only stayed a week, so did not have too much social time together, but they adapted well, were prompt and friendly and diligent with tasks.The rain kept them indoor a bit, so they did a good job restoring wooden chairs, cleaning bathroom, as well as weeding etc. They also did work exchange at the co-operative, and their work cleaning and gardening was much appreciated there also. Any host would be lucky to have them, and we wish them to find their ideal spot.

Tao volunteered with us for almost a month and he as been an amazing volunteer! Tao helped organize social activities at our Coliving Hostel. He is very friendly, engaging, and positive. Tao got along great with all the guests, staff, and other volunteers. We would 100% recommend him!

We had a really lovely time with Elia and it was a pleasure welcoming her into our home. She fit in with us and the chaotic life that having jobs, a child and a farm creates. She is easy going and attentive and got on amazingly with our 4 year old. Taking part in daily chores without us ever needing to ask. Whatever the work, she made the effort and we achieved a lot in her short time with us. She was curious about how we work, our experiences and choices, which led to some interesting chats while we weeded the garden and cleared land. She was equally happy working alone or with us and we never had a seconds worth of worry. We highly recommend her as a volunteer and wish her all the best on her journey. ( and hope she comes back to visit some day!)
