Staying with Amma truly was awesome. She has a very nice voluntary house, with your own kitchen, bathroom and living area. We became good friends with the dog and cats, took Canela out for beautiful walks in the jungle, and the cats were always there for a cuddle or playtime. Amma is very welcoming, open and knowledgeable. She is one of the best cooks ever (sorry mama) and took us along in her community, which we are very grateful for. We worked for 4 to 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. We fixed up the meditation temple, and then used it for breathwork. Amma is very flexible, let's you choose your project and gives you space. This place has a place in our hearts, and we learned a lot from Amma and her beautiful piece of land. Truly.

Laura stayed with us for three months — a full season of deep presence, gentle strength, and radiant love. She came into our home to help with the children and support our family life… but what she offered was so much more than help. She brought peace. She brought joy. She brought light. She created real connections with the kids — nurturing, playful, and intuitive. She held space for the mother, and supported the household in ways that were both seen and unseen. Her presence allowed us to breathe more deeply, to rest, and to thrive. Laura is not just reliable, organized, and trustworthy (she is all of those things!) — she is also deeply caring, thoughtful, emotionally intelligent, and genuinely invested in the well-being of others. She fits beautifully into a home environment and adapts naturally to the flow of family life. She has strong energetic awareness, a calm and grounding energy, and a unique ability to make people feel safe and seen. If you’re lucky enough to cross paths with Laura, know that you’re not just welcoming a helper — you’re inviting in a truly special soul. We are deeply grateful for her time with us. And we will carry her love in our hearts for a long time. Thank you, Laura. You are part of our story now. 💛 — Raphaëlle & family

This was my first WorkAway experience and I had a great week working at Mike's place. There were three of us there (four, a few nights) and it was fun getting to work alongside other WorkAwayers. My duties included trimming canuka and manuka tree saplings, weeding, mulching, cutting down vegetation for the compost, and odd jobs like washing a car and taking turns doing dishes. It was a very educational week for me. I learned about composting, his plans for further restoring the land, gardening techniques, and about the functions of different plants on the land. Mike was happy to explain things again if we were confused and he encouraged us to ask him any time we had concerns. I thought the food was great--eggs+toast, oatmeal, healthy cereal for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch (hummus, good cheese, veggies, boiled eggs), and for dinners we had bean and cheese nachos, tofu curry over rice, corn fritters, homemade pizza, and I made quesadillas and cookies for us all one night. Mike has travelled a lot, so we had some interesting conversations around the dinner table some nights about traveling.

I stayed 5 days at Stefanie’s and had a great time. I helped with feeding her chickens in the morning and then I helped with other things like lawn mowing and weeding until lunchtime. After dinner I helped with washing the dishes. Stephanie made great food and the peninsula is a beautiful place. It’s good bus service to get there so not having a car wasn’t a problem. I also got to meet her grandson and niece which was nice. Thank you

Staying with Nana and her family was an amazing experience. She and her 2 daughters and 1 brother are very genuine and welcoming persons and staying in the farm was very peacefull. There are chickens, a cat and you can learn to cook Isaan food. Teaching the local kids is very cute a d I reccomend this to any volunteers and I hope Nana make her dreams come true in her farm. 🤗

Oliver and Laura were excellent Workaway guests. They were very skilful and proactive with all the gardening jobs I gave them. They also cooked for my family and guests and looked after my dog. Great company and we enjoyed learning about Taiwanese food and customs. They left their living space impeccable when they departed. Wishing them the very best and would recommend to future hosts.

This was our first Workaway experience and we couldn't have asked for a better two weeks. From the start, Katie and Tiger were extremely accommodating and we felt at home immediately! We got the opportunity to plant a variety of things: from bananas, to different citruses, taro, and even cow pea, while also learning about different farming techniques. Katie and Tiger's farm is truly impressive, and we feel honored to have contributed to its growth. We can't wait to see how it continues to develop and hope to return someday to see the progress. Beyond farm work, we shared great conversations, cooked delicious meals together, and spent time at the beach. We're deeply grateful to Kate and Tiger for their kindness, generosity, and hospitality!

Andrey was a very good worker during his time with us. From the beginning, he was reliable, consistent, and took his work seriously. He put real effort into everything he did and paid attention to doing things properly, not just quickly. He was skilled in many areas and comfortable taking on a wide range of tasks. He learned fast, worked independently, and didn’t need to be constantly checked on. Once he knew what needed to be done, he just got on with it. He was also proactive and often stepped in to help without being asked, which we really appreciated. On top of that, Andrey was genuinely a joy to be around. He had a calm, positive attitude and was respectful and easygoing, which made living and working together very pleasant. He fit in naturally and contributed to a good atmosphere as well as getting the work done well. Overall, Andrey was a dependable, capable, and positive presence, and his help made a real difference for us. We would happily recommend him to any future host.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Yenny's. She helped us settle in really nicely with lot of communication via WhatsApp and phone calls. Both her cats were super cute and her cosy place had everything we needed and more. This was the perfect stay for us as we wanted a place to be still and relax having been travelling for so long.

I spent nine great days in Wellington with Emma and Ahmed and their daughter Maya, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with lots of good conversations and cultural exchange. The tasks were simple and varied, and I really enjoyed helping to improve their lovely little garden. Emma and Ahmed were very supportive and gave me great tips for exploring Wellington and the surrounding area. For Lord of the Rings fans, there are so many amazing places to see nearby, and Ahmed is himself a big LOTR and board games fan — we shared some really fun moments together. The food was great, I felt very welcome, and I highly recommend this host!

a great experience! I would love to go back to this wonderful place if I was in Thailand. I stayed for 2 weeks in June 2025. Pure is a very interesting person and was happy to share his knowledge when we asked. I learnt a lot from him and the work at the farm inspired me as he's created such a peaceful site! the work was varied and only a few hours a day then chilled afternoons. lots of harvesting, building planters, making soap from limes, moving bamboo for new building materials. sometimes not loads of structure but it worked out well. I learnt about sustainable living and the different plants and fruits around the farm. Pure is a fabulous cook. The 3 vegan meals a day were a highlight which I miss! Pure’s mother would come often and make lunch. The farm itself is beautiful with all natural building techniques and each volunteer had their own room. Basic but all you need and the hammocks around the farm were great to relax. The location is so beautiful with greenery and fields all around. Nearby there is a lake which along with other volunteers we would drive to and go swimming which was perfect to relax after a morning of farm work. the farm itself is in a small village and you have a lot of time to yourself. relaxing, reading, swimming in the farms pond. one day we drove to a temple nearby and another into Phayao town. If you don’t drive a motorbike or the car it is harder to see other places on free time but I wouldn’t let this put you off. This was a highlight of 5 months travelling, and a time which felt so special, peaceful and rewarding. Thank you Pure and your wonderful farm!

I stayed 10 days with this lovely family on this breathtaking island, my favourite. Aurélien Abi and their sweet son are warmharted and welcoming people. I enjoyed the film evenings and playing cards. I felt at home. good people. The island is for nature hike and sealovers, it is magic. Hope to go back soon to Aurélien and his lovely family in the jungle.

We absolutely loved having Aunty Melly here with us! This was only our 2nd experience at having a workawayer in our house and she made it a really easy transition at the beginning and end of her stay. Melly was great with my son and he even allowed her to read him story books at night before bed which has always been a really difficult task. She was able to create her own routines with with him that worked for them. They would bake together and other activities that he really enjoyed. Melly fit into the household easily. She was kind, loving, warm and considerate and happy to participate in any family activities even if we were just entertaining others. Melly was proactive in how she helped in our household and happy to try new experiences and food. We have really missed Aunty Melly since she left. We would welcome her back anytime.

Here's the place for you if you want to meet warm and knowledgeable person. Natalie, Chris, Sebastian and Summer(pet) was warm from the beginning. I learned how to make Feta Cheese, Yogurt, Soap from Natalie, how to make beer from Chris, watch movies together with Sebastian and Chris. This property itself have great views with peaceful feeling. The dinner here is absolutely outstanding. Chris cooks amazing food and red or white wine or beer or cocktails coming before foods. I used to help him prepare and have a great conversation during dinner time. I felt like I am a family member not a workawayer just after a few days. My jobs mainly are feeding chickens, organic stuffs and keep kitchen tidy. All the chickens 🐓 will warm welcome you when you bring food to them.😁 Thank you so much my foodie kiwi family.

I stayed a bit more then 3 weeks by Michel. I did not know what to expect but this part of Panama was really nice. Michel is an excellent host and even better cook, what he do with his slow cooker is one of its art :) if you looking for chill, a bit isolated place-project that is your place. You can also use your free days to go closeby beach or islands where things going on. Work itself is really changeable it is a big old boat, can happen anytime anything, most important is Michel is not pushing anyone to do anything. It is a lot to do but hopefully one day I will be in his sailing team :) all the best and see you then 🙃

Svenja or Sunny as we called her, lived up to her nickname. Very Sunny personality, work habits, etc actually in her whole personna she was just great. Really good worker, calm, well organized, logical, happy. She had good suggestions. We really enjoyed our time with Sunny. She is welcome back any time she wants to come to NZ. She mixes well with other people and has them organized and working well in a very short time, if you put her in a position of authority. Lots of laughter and good times with Sunny. Animals also liked her and sat on her lap. She would fit in well in all households and has excellent English. Thank you Sunny for the loveliness you brought to our home.

My experience with Tomas in Melipeuco was amazing! I would highly recommend it to any traveller passing through the area! The property is situated on a beautiful piece of land, perfect you’re looking for somewhere tranquil and quiet where you can disconnect. There is a river for swimming, slacklines, endless reading spots and a beautiful dog to keep you company. The work was no more than a few hours each day. The tasks were interesting and I was grateful to learn some new skills. Tomas always explained the tasks very clearly and was always around to help if needed. Tomas was an excellent host! He was clearly very passionate about the project, knowledgeable about the area and offered to take me to some beautiful hikes/waterfalls nearby. The place is about 20 minutes from town, but for me this wasn’t an issue at all. Tomas always made sure I had everything I needed at the house and regularly asked me if I wanted to join him on his trips to town about every 1-2 days. Also great wifi and accomodation.

After unexpectedly losing volunteers and suddenly having to manage everything alone, two angel-like women appeared — Israa & Kejsi — and became our volunteers. As you are now safely completing your time here and returning to France, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to both of you. Thank you so much for supporting me during such a physically and emotionally difficult time. Your kindness truly reached the dogs, and I believe they were able to spend very gentle and happy days because of you. You were truly respectful toward the host and demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility throughout your stay. I am deeply grateful for the patience, care, and commitment you showed in looking after the dogs. The cultural exchange we shared has also become a very special and meaningful memory for me. If you ever come back to Thailand, please do not hesitate to visit. You will always be welcome. 😊

I lived with Sam and Elan from the end of April 2025 until mid-June 2025. I had been in Canada since October 2024, and it was a wonderful experience to live with a Canadian family with three children. I helped with household tasks and spent a lot of time doing activities with the kids, as well as working around the property in the forest. I also went with Elan to his workplace a few times and helped out with hands-on, practical work there. All the tasks they gave me were more than manageable and taught me a lot. Overall, my stay with them broadened my horizons and was a huge part of my Working Holiday experience. Thank you so much for the great time (sorry that my review is coming so late:) ).
