Description
Hi everyone! I'm Naufal, and I'm from Indonesia.
I'm really excited to be in Yala, Thailand, helping young people learn English.
I teach at a local school and english academy, and I see how much the students want to improve their English here.
It's interesting, but Thailand is still working on its English skills (it was around 101st in a recent study). And in Yala, we don't get many visitors from other countries. That's why I'm really keen to bring a bit of the world to my students!
I think meeting people from different backgrounds and just chatting in English can really get them excited about learning.
You won't be doing formal teaching here. It's more about sharing your own stories, playing fun games, and just hanging out with the students and talking to them.
You'll be like someone who connects different cultures and shows them what's possible. Come and help me make a real impact!
We currently have two locally paid staff members. They both work as English teachers. and plus me, I also teach at the academy. Since it's still a small academy, I also handle various other responsibilities like promotion and student recruitment. I'm hoping that having Workawayers join us will bring new perspectives and help our students connect with the wider world!"Types of help and learning opportunities

Yala, in the very south of Thailand, is a really interesting place culturally. It's a mix of Thai, Malay, and Chinese cultures, which means there are lots of different traditions, amazing food, and cool festivals.
Here's what you can experience:
- Try real Southern Thai food: It has delicious Malay flavors, which is different from the food you might find in other parts of Thailand.
- Learn about local customs: You can join in local festivals and see how people here do things.
- See different religions side-by-side: In Yala, you'll find Buddhist temples, mosques, and Chinese shrines all in the same area.
- Meet the friendly locals: People in Yala are really welcoming, and you can learn about their daily lives.
- Learn a bit of Malay: Since we're close to Malaysia, many people here speak Malay too.
- Explore the nature: There are beautiful rainforests, waterfalls, and nice scenery to see.
- Discover the local history: Yala has a long and interesting past.
This is a chance to see a part of Thailand that most tourists don't visit. You'll really get to understand how different cultures come together here and how strong the local people are.Projects involving children

Help
I'm looking for friendly people who like to connect with others and can help get my students excited about different cultures through fun activities.
Your main tasks will be to:
- Share your travel stories: Tell them how English has helped you see the world.
- Chat with them in English: Just have normal, everyday conversations.
- Play fun games and do activities: Make learning enjoyable and something they remember.
- Help them practice English in a relaxed way: Create a friendly space where they feel comfortable trying.
- Be a good example: Show them why learning English and other cultures is cool.
- Share your own unique story: Everyone has something interesting to share!
You don't need to be a teacher! You just need to enjoy spending time with young people and be happy to share your experiences. Just being here will really help them feel more excited and confident."Languages

We offer simple, budget-friendly accommodation designed for those who wish to immerse themselves in the local way of life. Expect basic comforts: a private or shared room in a local house or nearby, typically with just a bed and fan. Bathrooms are shared, and there's a kitchen available for your use if you'd like to cook.
about Meals: you will get free breakfast & lunch at school and for dinner we cook together at House (I will provide the basic need: rice, eggs, & vegetables)
It's important to understand that living conditions here reflect the local standard. Yala's climate is hot, and air conditioning is not standard in local homes. Wi-Fi can be unreliable, offering a chance to disconnect and fully embrace the experience!
This experience is ideal for volunteers who prioritize cultural immersion and are comfortable with a simpler lifestyle.
And yes, as per the Workaway guidelines, you will definitely have two full days off each week (which is enough to travel around)What else ...
Getting to my location is very easy: you can take the train to Yala station, and I can pick you up from there. It's only a 3-minute drive, about 1 kilometer away
