It was wonderful to have the opportunity to host and get to know Antoine during the course of the three weeks or so he stayed with us! He was hard-working, friendly, and so efficient. I would highly recommend him to any hosts and would be pleased to welcome him back for a visit anytime!

I truly enjoyed my stay with Igal and Mica. They are incredibly kind and welcoming people, and from the very beginning I felt like part of the family. The work was very light — mostly feeding the animals and helping around the house — and they always made sure I had enough time to rest and explore the island. They even took me on trips around Flores and invited me to movie nights and other lovely activities. It was a beautiful experience to share island life with them, and I’m very grateful for the time we spent together.

Mel is awesome! She really helped me a lot and kept me updated and sent me pictures while I was gone. She’s super sweet and funny and just a nice vibe to have around the house. Always helpful and making sure the animals were okay. They all really loved her and miss her already! Thanks Mel!

Olivia showed great commitment during her time as a Workawayer. She was always punctual, carried tasks through to completion, and was consistently trustworthy, flexible, and sincere. It was a pleasure to have her with us.

I had such a wonderful time staying with the family and working on their new project! They are amazing - so welcoming and kind! I already miss the farm and the family so much and plan to come back soon!  I stayed for several days, helping with construction of a new chicken coop and working in the garden. Since the project is new, the volunteer work feels especially impactful. It was exciting to be part of something that’s just getting started and to see how much progress we made in a short time! They are super knowledgeable about agroecology and have so much wisdom to share if you’re interested in learning. I really appreciated the opportunity to talk and connect with the family over meals and during volunteer work. My comfort speaking and understanding Spanish went way up after my experience on the farm. Their little boy is also the sweetest kid in the world and already knows so much about the plants and animals on the farm! I had so much fun running around and playing with him everyday.  The site is also absolutely beautiful. There’s a lovely river right next to the house that’s perfect for swimming, and you can hike up the hills for an amazing view. The farm feels way up in the mountains, but is still quite accessible to the cute nearby town by moto (or you can walk to town in about 45 minutes). I slept in a tent on a raised platform, with a roof. The tent setup was super comfortable and warm, with a camping mattress and tons of blankets. It was really nice waking up to the sound of the river everyday!  I had so much fun and learned so much! Son personas muy amables y me sentí como en casa desde mi primer momento en la granja. Ya echo de menos a la granja y a la familia. ¡Ojalá pudiera volver muy pronto! Me quedé varios días, ayudando con la construcción de la valla para las gallinas, y trabajando en la huerta. Ya que el proyecto es nuevo, el voluntariado se siente muy significativo. Me encantaba ser parte de algo nuevo y ver todo el progreso en solo algunos días. Tienen mucho conocimiento sobre la agroecología y tienen mucha información para compartir. Tenía la oportunidad para hablar y conectar con la familia durante las comidas y el trabajo del voluntariado. Mi capacidad para hablar y entender en español mejoró mucho durante mi estancia en la granja. Su hijo es el niño más adorable del mundo, y ya sabe muchísimo sobre todas las plantas y animales en la granja. Me divertía mucho corriendo y jugando con él todos los días. El sitio es hermoso también. Hay un río lindo junto a la casa que es perfecto para nadar, y se puede caminar en los cerros para ver una vista increible. La granja es muy tranquila y se siente muy remoto en las montañas, pero todavía es muy accesible al pueblo en moto (o se puede caminar al pueblo en 45 minutos). Dormí en una carpa en una plataforma elevada, con un techo. La carpa era muy cómoda, con un colchón y muchas cobijas. Era muy lindo despertarme todas las mañanas al sonido del río.  ¡Me encantó toda la experiencia y aprendí tanto! ¡Quiero volver muy pronto!

Paula was an extraordinary workaway, she help us out with all the house duties and even more, they cleaned a wall from all the old mixture of Concrete and they went to Amatitlán in their day off in order to do some rock climbing. They are so more than welcome in case they need to come back and we will be always waiting for them.

I had a great experience staying with Cyril. The region is beautiful, even in the middle of winter. I was staying in a very cozy little cabin on the property and helped out by working in the garden and doing other odd jobs. Cyril was very welcoming. We shared our meals together and I was happy to spend time with his friends on occasion. He also has an amazing dog and the most friendly cat in the world. Thanks for everything!

Mustafa was very communicative, welcoming, and sweet. We really enjoyed doing the language exchanges and met some cool people doing so. I'm so impressed by how he was able to juggle hosting, running a cafe, and organizing the groups. You could tell that he's well respected in the community and that his group is helping people learn a ton. Unfortunately, we had to leave the country last minute and he was very understanding and flexible. We even got a cold at the end and he went out of his way to get us soup and check in with us. Him and Circe were awesome hosts! We wish we were able to stay longer and do more but it was just unfortunate timing at the end that made us have to return home :(

Allow me to leave this feedback, even though quite some time has passed! Life on this farm was truly wonderful. Pablo and everyone in the town welcomed me with such kindness. It is a very large farm where many different things are grown. Through this experience, I came to love goose eggs. Above all, Pablo was incredibly patient and taught me both Spanish and English. Participating in the weekend markets was a lot of fun. I am also very grateful to Rio, the adorable and clever black cat, as well as to the relatives who took such good care of me.

Edwina and Ian are very welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my three weeks with them. Communication with Edwina is seamless and there are no surprises. It was a pleasure to help Edwina with her daily tasks, including Wila, meal preparation, and all the other chores. I also had the opportunity to explore the station and learn about its operations, and I am extremely grateful to them. Thank you again for everything; I had a wonderful time and it was a fantastic experience.

Hosting Benthe and Frank was an absolute pleasure. They were reliable, proactive, and completely trustworthy — we felt at ease leaving the house and the chickens + dogs in their hands for two days. They didn’t just “help out,” they worked. Demolishing an old shed is not exactly a cute Pinterest activity, yet they handled it with energy and good humor. The garden tasks were done carefully and responsibly, and everything was left tidy and in great shape. They were respectful of the house, thoughtful with the animals, and genuinely engaged with the whole experience. They approached everything with openness and enthusiasm. We would host them again without hesitation. Any future host will be lucky to have them. Until next time 🙂

Konohana and Hazumi were wonderful guests. They were kind, friendly, polite, and a pleasure to host. Although it was winter and we had no major projects, they happily helped tidy Nils’ room and cooked meals for us. They were respectful, easy to live with, and brought a positive atmosphere to our home. They get along with our son and his cousin very well. We warmly recommend them to future hosts. Safe travels girls! Next time you visit please book it in the summer ☺️. Hugs!

These 3 weeks in Alagonia were without a doubt the most enriching of my 5 months in Greece. I learned a lot about natural farming, the life in this Greek village, the people, and also about a different way of cooking. That is to say cooking a lot with wild greens, lots of différent céréales, fruits and veggies of season from Panayiotis garden. Everything organic. I also got very inspired by Melanie and her very tasty cuisine. Melanie would come to our dorm with ingredients to show us how to make sourdough bread or Kombucha. I enjoyed it a lot! About the project itself at the agrokipio, it was so interesting being there to help. The place is amazing and the project very promising. With the other Volunteers and Evan, the coordinator if the project, we fenced the land, cleaned stone walls of the ivy, digged and took roots and stones out of the soil. I am só happy I was here for the very beginning and that all together we got it started. I wish in the future to come back in this beautiful village and community and see the project grown the fruits and veggies everywhere. I had a lot of fun at the dorm and with Evan and Melanie, who are very kind and interesting people to be around. Thank you for everything! I’ll always remember this experience.

Fue una experiencia tan hermosa... Mi amiga y yo regresamos con el corazón lleno de gratitud por la oportunidad de conocer a esta familia tan especial y el encantador lugar donde viven. Las actividades son relajadas y muy flexibles. Recomiendo este programa de voluntariado a cualquiera que quiera acercarse a la naturaleza, aprender español y compartir momentos divertidos juntos. Un agradecimiento especial a Fran y Tere, que son personas muy amables y nos hicieron sentir como en casa durante nuestra estancia de 10 días.

My experience with Antje was wonderful. She welcomed me very warmly and made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. It was my first time doing Workaway, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m truly grateful to her for this week, especially for the opportunity to practice and improve my German. She was very patient and encouraging. Antje also included me in activities with her friends and even took me on a tour around the city, which made the experience even more special and memorable. I can only say thank you for everything. It was a beautiful and enriching experience.

Annie was just a delight to have. A wonderful worker, and person. I would welcome Annie back anytime and highly reccommend her to other hosts.

I stayed with Antonello for 2 weeks. First, Antonello is an awesome person, funny, honest and aware of other’s welfare. The work is not hard. We were painting and sanding or weeding and preparing the garden for the summer. The food is good, healthy and without limits, so you can actually feel comfortable eating whatever and as much as you want. The free days, one of them on Thursday for everyone and the other is up to you. We’ve been exploring the beautiful area around the town and the river.

This was my first ever workaway experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I spent 7 weeks in Reykjavík with Snædís, Stefán, and the kids and I can't recommend them enough! There truly is never a dull moment and it was a pleasure to be part of such a fun, lively, and welcoming family. I also got to spend lots of time with their extended family - including on a weekend away to Akureyri - and I felt equally as welcomed by them, which was amazing. My main responsibility was helping with the kids; picking them up from school, taking them to sports, playing with them at home etc. As to be expected with an 8, 7, and 2 year old, there was the occasional meltdown or moment of chaos, but it was genuinely an absolute please getting to bond with the kids and in no way did it feel like 'work'. I had so much fun with all 3 of them and I will miss them very much! Snædís and Stefán were the most wonderful hosts and we shared many great conversations and laughs. I felt at home right away with them in their beautiful house. Anyone who gets the opportunity to stay with this family are very lucky indeed ❤️ I had the best time and hope to come back in the not too distant future!
