Our stay with Robin and Grant was a great time! We really felt like a part of the family and were often included in events going on in the community such as the christmas markets and and a concert where their son was playing. Their house in such a beautiful area (with a pool) with all kinds of birds! Even though we were traveling without a car we never felt stuck. They were also super nice and were willing to drop us off in the city or in the national park for a hike on our days off. In afternoons we took the bikes into town as another option. The work was varied from day to day but included gardening, light house cleaning, and cooking dinners. There were other workawayers staying as well while we were there and our work was joint which gave us time to get to know each other. They have a two dogs and two cats who were cuddly and sweet. Once you throw a ball for Poncho he will stick by your side! I would for sure recommend staying with them if you have the chance!

A Life-Changing 6 Months in Morocco Rating: ★★★★★ This language academy in Berrechid is amazing. I spent six months here, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The Work: Minimal (8 hrs/week) but meaningful. You help 2–4 students with conversational practice using clear worksheets—stress-free and impactful. The Hosts: Mr. Harim – Welcoming and well-connected. His trips, like a desert excursion, avoid tourist traps and feel authentic. Fatim Zahara – Lead teacher and fantastic resource, especially for female volunteers. Fatima – Housekeeper who keeps everything spotless; three homemade, abundant meals per week are a highlight. Living & Location: Safe, welcoming Berrechid. Sharing a room with volunteers builds community. Easy and cheap access to Casablanca. Street food is delicious and consistent. Tips: Trust the hosts’ network for trips, connect with Fatim early, and be open to the locals—they’re incredibly friendly. Bottom Line: Perfect balance of meaningful work, excellent mentorship, and authentic Moroccan culture. Highly recommended.

My experience here was my first Workaway experience, and it was amazing ! I spent 2 weeks there. Marcos is very welcoming and he built an amazing place there. The place is surrounded by nature and rivers, you have 3 waterfalls at 5 min of walks. The work for the two weeks was making a concrete slab. It was very physical work but I learned a lot and really liked it. But more than the work, I met amazing people there. We shared a lot a meals, we learned how to make the best empanadas in Argentina ! Marcos made amazing asados too. We shared amazing moments, nights and discussions. I really felt home there and I was sad to leave ! These two weeks left an incredible memory in my heart ! Thank you Marcos and your family. I will also miss all the lovely animals there. And a special thanks to the amazing volunteers I met there, Simone, Sarp, Lydia and Laura. Hope to come back one day !

Ferdaous spent around 2 weeks helping us out at the farm. She is a wonderful volunteer always willing to lend a hand and ready to learn new skills. She has pleasant personality, always polite, respectful and fun at the same time..! I am sure the chicken and ducks misses her morning and evening chats. I would have loved to have her stay longer but she already have plans for the next adventure. She is welcome to come to farm again in the future as she is already part of our international volunteer family. If you are looking for a 5star volunteer, Ferdaous is the one...!

Alice stayed with us for a week. She fitted in really well, was a great worker and good company. She was interesting and interested in our lives, neighbourhood and city. She appreciated and respected our environment/ space. She worked well at a variety of tasks on her own and alongside me and used her initiative to do other jobs when I was away for the day, including finishing off the firewood stacking. Most of all she is a great cook and took on a lot of the meal prep, etc! So nice to have a meal placed in front of me!! Thanks Alice for everything you did.

Dear Ayaka, it was lovely meeting you. Thank you so much for everything. You helped me with so many things. We fertilized the trees, you were very helpful with cooking and especially with cleaning. We became a great team on the farm. Thanks to you, we made the farm's living room much nicer and more functional. We would sit in front of the stove for hours, talking about things 🙂 We would drink our tea brewed on the stove while watching the fire. I was never bored when I was with you. We learned so much from each other. We ate delicious food. It's good that you're not vegetarian. 🍗 We made bread together. It's great that you like tahini and molasses 🙂 Sometimes we worked hard and got tired, but we also had fun times. Our trip to the Japanese garden in Kaman was fun. 😂 We also stayed at my house in Kaman a few times. We had fun times with my family too. We ate delicious food. I hope you get back to your old weight 😂 Goodbye, hoping to see you again. 🤚

We stayed one week with Trish and Riccardo and we enjoyed ourselves very much. The house is very big with a lot of space, a wonderful view and we had our own bathroom. They always looked after us and never wanted us to work in the rain, and were always concerned about our well-being. Trish cooked us delicious vegetarian food. We loved her fresh cooked soup and the pasta she made. The working hours were flexible. We've painted the terrace walls and floor, helped inside with household and outside in the garden. On our day off, Trish gave us a lift to the next town to have a look around. Thank you very much for having us. We keep in touch! Alex and Andi x

Weronika and Tom stayed with us for about 10 days and were a great help in the garden and around the farm. They are a quiet, friendly and respectful couple with a great work ethic. Everything they did was carried out cheerfully and to a high standard, and they worked well independently. We would definitely recommend them to others.

Carson very eagerly tackled all the different jobs, from weeding the gardens, banking the potatoes, raking up hay, tidying up a pile of sawdust and many other little jobs around the place. He is friendly and communicative and it was a pleasure to have him around for the week. Thank you very much , Carlson, for all your hard work and best of luck with your new job.

Marina stayed with me for 3 weeks in August. She is a joy to have as a volunteer! Always positive and happy, very easy going, trustworthy, organised and capable and a lover of animals. My dog and cats adored her and my chickens were well looked after! Marina is embracing any opportunity for walks, hikes and wild adventures. We picked berries and mushrooms, weeded the vegetable garden and harvested garlic and tomatoes and finished off the planting in my rock garden. She also looked after the house and animals when I was away for a few days, which was very reassuring. And she befriended local friends and neighbours! Marina is a very capable physiotherapist and can also give advice about movement and exercise. I warmly recommend her to future host!

I stayed with Jackie for almost three weeks and had a wonderful time. I especially loved feeding all the birds and sheep, looking for colorful eggs in the barns (Jackie has chickens that lay blue eggs!), finding peacock feathers while cleaning the peacock house, catching geese, and being amateur vet for one of her horses which had a wound that needed cleaning. Aside from the work, I had many beautiful new experiences while up in Loon Lake - seeing the Northern Lights, sleeping in a homemade quincy, watching a dog sledding race, spending time with the horses, making a fire, going snowshoe hiking, game nights… Jackie is an experienced, open-minded host with lots of stories to share and going out of her way to make her workawayers‘ time a memorable one. It most certainly was. Thank you for having me!

I had such a great time with Guido, Elisah and Ella! I was there for about two weeks, but I definitely wished it could have been (much) longer. Guido and Elisah were such gracious, kind and fun hosts, there was never a dull moment even when working. The work kept me busy, fulfilled and entertained, it was never boring and the projects were all very diverse and interesting. It was my first time caring for horses and I could definitely say that they are truly majestic animals, the cats are a bunch of cuddlers and the dogs are always happy to see you! I am grateful to have had the pleasure of meeting you guys and thank you so much for having me!

Greatest Workaway on planet Earth and beyond! I cannot say enough about how much we adore Rocío. She is quick, funny, intuitive, easy-going, flexible, self-starter, hardest worker of all times, honest, kind, thoughtful and a total joy to have around. Cannot recommend her highly enough!!

I attempted to stay here, but left early because it really didn't seem like a place where I'd want to be staying. My main reason for leaving was because of my allergies and not being able to breathe very well inside their house, so anyone with allergies please STAY AWAY, but it also wasn't a very welcoming house, so I wasn't heartbroken about my allergies acting up either. Here is what I think is worth noting to other Workawayers: - Jutta smokes cigarettes inside the house, which is one of the things that I think I was allergic to, but she's not very nice and considerate about it like most people I've known who smoke. Her "policy" about that is basically just "if you don't like it, go somewhere else while I'm smoking." (Those were her words.) - If you decide to stay here, prepare to be bombarded with a ton of house rules and reasons why you need to follow them. They will hand you a packet to read over about what to do (or more importantly, not do) while there, and don't worry, they'll share plenty of stories with you about former guests who didn't follow the rules. While I do understand that people should be respectful and have common sense when staying in other people's houses, the amount of negativity that was given in practically every story, and there were many of them that seemed never-ending, it almost seemed like they only complain about Workawayers coming to stay with them, which isn't very welcoming and doesn't really make sense to me either. Why open your house to Workawayers if all you're going to do is complain about people who have stayed with you in the past? It certainly made me practically afraid to do anything they didn't like, lest I be the subject of a future complaint (though I'm sure now I will be for writing this, but oh well, people need to know about this). - When I did approach Jutta about needing to leave because of my allergies, I was met with a very blank (and seemingly cold) expression, like she thought I was making it up just to get out of having to do any work. She didn't seem understanding or even willing to understand my situation at all, which wouldn't bode well for anyone else who needs to abruptly leave during their stay. I was really looking forward to this being a good stay, because their house is in a beautiful area and I had hoped to enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of the area, but it wasn't meant to be. I hope you all will consider what I've mentioned before you decide to stay here.

Such an amazing place with so many wonderful dogs who are so happy to have people around ! Everybody was lovely and very quick to help if I needed absolutely anything. The dogs are really well cared for and even though the shelter is huge, it's clear they are well organized and give extra care to all the individual dogs which currently need it. New dogs keep coming in constantly so the staff are very busy, but as volunteers we can at least help by walking the dogs and by doing some smaller easy tasks. I admit it was hard not to take all the dogs home, but I'm glad I could give them at least some enrichment with our walks and cuddles :)

Throughout our 8 months of backpacking so far, house sitting for Diego has been one of our highlights! It was a perfect setting to rest and take in the beautiful views of the surrounding sacred valley. It was a real privilege to house sit and care for Diego’s home, chickens and cats. If you have the privilege to house sit and help Diego just note it is in a very remote area and therefore as a single person who enjoys company and hustle and bustle you should bare this in mind. However it was perfect for us as a couple for 5 weeks we were in our element living the quiet simple life. We always felt safe and the local people of Urubamba and surrounding towns are so friendly. Diego is so kind and welcoming and was always at hand for help and offer reassurance while he was away. Thank you so much :)

Lea was an absolute gift to have in our home. She originally planned to stay for two weeks and ended up staying with us for six weeks, and we are deeply grateful for that time. She supported us tremendously, especially with the renovation of our bathroom, where she was a huge pillar throughout the entire process. Lea contributed not only with hands-on help, but also with research, planning and her professional knowledge. She worked independently, reliably and with great care, and we could trust her one hundred percent at all times. On a personal level, Lea integrated herself very naturally into our home and daily life. It felt easy and harmonious to live together, and it was simply wonderful to have her around. We can wholeheartedly recommend hosting Lea. She would be an enrichment to any home, and she is always very welcome to come back to us.
