This was my very first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better start! I don’t regret it at all; in fact, I'm so glad I chose Susan’s farm. Even though I could only stay for one week, it was completely worth it. Susan is a wonderful host and an amazing cook! I really enjoyed our dinners together—everything she prepared was delicious. The experience also helped me a lot to practice and improve my English, and I learned so much about Ireland and its traditions through our conversations. It has been an unforgettable experience. I had such a great time during our talks at dinner and playing the card game afterwards (Skyjo). I enjoyed it so much that I’m definitely buying a deck to play with my friends back home! I am going to miss her animals so much. They were all so adorable and I received so much affection from them; I treated them as if they were my own. Between the animals and the great atmosphere Susan creates, I’m heading home with amazing memories. I highly recommend Susan to everyone and I really hope to come back in the future. Thank you for everything!

Workaway Review: Bia (Ana Beatriz) Sangaletti Bia is a champion of all things good, decent and thoughtful. Arriving from Brazil to complete her Master's in Human Rights Law, she stayed several months, and was great every day. Besides all the usual Workaway projects, Bia attended her courses an hour away - taking mass transit - helped around the house and took care of me with affection and much grace when a sudden back injury left me unable to stand, walk upright or use my stairs. I can't imagine anyone finding themselves in this situation able to juggle so much, so willingly, and so well. Bia tackled things she'd never done before with energy, care and attention. She never gave up, or lost her cool (or kindness) even when I became immobile and utterly dependent. Her determination was constant, time-managed and evenly distributed whether here at home, out in the yard, or at school, where she carried a full load and volunteered for additional law clinics connected to her studies benefitting others in grave difficulty. Nothing was neglected, overlooked or forgotten. Our mutual interests in culture, human rights, social literacy, justice and sustainability extended our Workaway-housemate relationship to true companionship, shared ethical frequencies and what I hope will remain a lasting friendship. This year as planned Bia returned for one week to complete her examination and thesis defense, and to make up some hours we couldn't do during her previous stay. That's who she is, that's how she is and it's elegant and remarkable.

I spent a month with Chalotte, Steen (her husband), and Thais (her son), in November-December, and it was simply perfect! The work was very interesting. Not only did I work, but I also learned a lot about how to care for animals and manage a farm (especially with the adorable sheep). For someone who loves these animals, it was great to be there in winter, as we spent more time with them, especially feeding them. We also painted the house a beautiful yellow colour and the result was very satisfying! My free time activities were also great! I spent most of my weekends in Copenhagen, as it is very easy to get there by train from Sorø. There is always something interesting to do in this city, even in winter when the weather is rather bad. For example, you can visit museums: the Glyptotek Museum is particularly incredible if you like art and painting. I have always felt like part of the family, whether going out or simply being invited to join them for film and television evenings. The atmosphere at Charlotte's place is so pleasant. You will laugh a lot! They are genuinely curious and interested in you and your life. The exchange are always pleasant and interesting! Last point but not least : the meals were delicious and my vegetarian diet was always respected, which was so kind! It was an extraordinary stay and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy this experience. Mange tak for alt Chalotte!

I had the most amazing time staying with Jim and Sue! They showed me so much kindness and were very welcoming. They were happy to show me all around Coromandel and gave me plenty of recommendations of things to explore on my own. They always extended invitations to me to go bowling or to dinner parties, and I am so grateful for those opportunities to meet other people in Coromandel. I was also lucky enough to go sailing with them which was one of my favorite memories from this stay. The accommodation was amazing, very comfortable and very private. The work was light and enjoyable, and I was usually working in the garden alongside Sue. Sue always made delicious lunches with fresh ingredients and the time that I stayed there was the best I ate on my whole trip. I loved getting to know them better over these lunches and had so much fun with them! Thank you Jim and Sue for such an amazing experience!

Damian and Maria (and gorgeous Annika!) are the kindest hosts we could’ve asked for! They are super relaxed with your plans and very helpful too. We stayed in a room in the garden and we found it became our little home for the time we were there it was cozy and sweet. We also enjoyed the work… we did lots of path making, painting and gardening, it was fun and we learnt lots of new things. We especially loved picking raspberries and occasionally stealing one to eat! Overall we loved our time in gorgeous Bariloche and staying with Damian and Maria. We highly recommend this Workaway! 😊

Barbara (Babi) came last minute for short visit of only a few days. She arrived and remained really attentive, thoughtful, engaged and engaging particularly with planting and gardening. Her language skills and travel experiences are exceptional. I hope she'll visit again someday with more time, and stories.

Workaway Review: Max Oehlke Max arrived from Germany on his motorcycle in May, having crossed Alpine passes enduring unusual snow, rain and freezing temperatures. Despite - or because of - all that - he brought energy, enthusiasm, attention to detail (from projects and tools, to cats and emotions), great questions stories, and observations and genuine joy and determination. Max jumps when needed and sprawls when available which - at least here at my house - are tremendously appreciated equally: the first for ensuring lots gets done, safely and well; the latter because it made downtime thoroughly (and mutually) relaxing, peaceful, easy. [More often than not, I'm still tending to 'things-not-done' long after Workawayers have gone off -- tools still to put away, clean up (both in, and out of doors), shopping lists and shopping, et al.) Instead, Max was 100% present. Most of all, he was attitude-free, and attention-full, amenable to doing whatever was needed: when, where, how... thoughtfully and grief-free. He was in equal measure chill, patient, spunky, smart, observant and fun. Easily one the best visitor-guest-helpers I've hosted over the past 8 years, Max's self-sufficiency, responsible independence, tenacity, blazing curiosity and stamina are admirable and really stand out in my experience as a host -- especially as a solo host for whom the help I receive can make or break my well-being in both practical and soulful terms. Max is grounded, uplifting, clever, careful and kind. He doesn't just listen, he hears; doesn't just look, he sees; doesn't just plod along, he engages... His age-appropriate youthful muddling never failed to discern 'impact from intention,' effort and sincerity whatever the challenge, ask, or entrustment... and that was beyond refreshing, it was kindness and caring in action, endearing and friend-making. I look forward to news of his future adventures, or hopeful return. Best wishes in all you do.

Workaway Review: Andrew McIntyre Exemplary skillset coupled with willingness, , care and curiosity, Andrew was terrific help. He was easily the most able, detailed and disciplined, with fascinating personal experience for folks intrigued by technology, technical and/or material problem-solving. Andrew shows up self-contained with outfitted caravan and his own tools. He will attempt and tackle pretty much any project familiar or new. Andrew kept me informed and up to date on whatever he was doing, with particulars whether successful (almost always), or not (rare). He was super appreciative of provisions, offers to show him around and the help I was able to provide translating for needed parts and work to his camper. Closer in age, with more Workaway stays than usual, sharing similar work ethics and appreciation of observation, self-reliance and discovery, manual skill and labor, made for great conversations during and after work. Andrew grew up volunteering. He brings those remarkable experiences and perspectives as well, and it's terrific. He's self-motivated, asks and listens, knows his gifts and his limits, communicates thoroughly, but equally goes off for hours on whatever the mission. I benefitted tremendously from the weeks he was here and would welcome him back anytime. NOTE: Superlative in every way.

I stayed with this wonderful family for one month starting from mid-January 2026, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, everyone was incredibly kind and friendly, making me feel right at home. What impressed me most was how independent and creative the children are. It was amazing to see them playing together and even cooking by themselves! They are such a joy to be around. The house is surrounded by beautiful nature, which allowed me to experience the best of the Danish winter. I had a great time playing on the frozen pond with the kids and taking peaceful walks to the lake with Elena. The family also went above and beyond by taking me to the local swimming pool and yoga sessions, which helped me truly immerse myself in the Danish lifestyle. I am so grateful for their hospitality and for showing me the beauty of life in Denmark. I highly recommend staying with them!

Sandy was a wonderful volunteer and a real asset to our dogs and cats shelter. During her two weeks with us, she showed great initiative and was consistently proactive during every shift, always ready to help wherever needed. She treated the animals with care, patience, and genuine kindness, which made a big difference in their daily routines. In addition, she kept her accommodation clean and well maintained, which we truly appreciated. Sandy’s positive attitude and reliability made her a pleasure to host.

Master Ali, The past 6 weeks were great combination of physical therapeutic work, amazing food and hanging out with the other volunteers, surrounded by beautiful nature. And on top of that, your willingness to help us on our day off. There is a reason why you have so many people that have comed to your place in all these years. Thank you Ali.

Me and my dog Bruce stayed with Janet for two weeks and the whole experience was so loveley. Janet is a wonderful, kind and hilarious lady. Her food is 10/10 and I will miss it! Lots of homemade meals, made from veggies she has grown or been given from the local community. Her dogs are so wonderful and were all perfect with my dog. The work is in the beautiful garden - I did a lot of weeding. If Janet would have me back, we would love to come back!
