    Description

We are an organic farm where biodiversity, natural cultivation and animal welfare are in focus.

The farm is located at Hørhaven near Tystrup lake. It is one of the most beautiful places in Denmark.
All our land is in a protected area with land down to Tystrup lake.
The farmhouse is very idyllic and completely secluded at the end of a small country road in a hilly landscape right next to the "Baunehøjen" which has stunning views of the beautiful nature with protected fields, grazing animals and large forests.
On the farm we produce lots of vegetables according to the principle of permaculture. We also have many berry bushes, as well as fruit and nut trees.
The crops are sold in our farm shop or you can pick and harvest yourself at a cheaper price. Our meadows, for grazing the animals, are sown with many different herbs and flowers, which provide healthier animals, better taste for our products, provide honey and pollen to bees and insects and provide the optimal conditions for varied biodiversity.
We have many different animals because we think it is the best way to make use of our land, and it's great to experience how the animals interact and graze the fields differently.
Our animals are part of the ”Velfærdsdelikatesse” concept. That is, we have old Danish breeds that are adapted to the northern climate so they can stay outside and enjoy freedom all year long.
The animals reproduce naturally and all youngsters are allowed to stay with their mothers until they are naturally turned away. There is no castration or of cutting tails or ring in the nose on our farm.
The animals are gently killed at home in their habitat so they are not stressed unnecessarily. It gives an animal welfare we are both proud of and we can stand for.
On the farm lives Chalotte, who is in charge of all the daily running and Steen who is working in Switzerland.
Chalotte is a architect working mostly with scenography and Steen is a consultant working mostly with hospitality.
At the farm there are also 3 holiday apartments rented as Bed & Breakfast. We can accommodate 12-14 overnight guests.

As we invite travellers to participate as a family member in our household it is very important that you are open and friendly person who want to invest yourself in our daily life. You must take great interest and responsibility for our animals and their welfare and be interested in permaculture and farm life.

  • Help

    Help

We need help with the daily work feeding and tending the animals on the farm. In winter and spring we need help to prepare the land for organic farming. The work consist of putting up or repairing fences around our fields, preparing vegetables beds, seeding, sprouting and planting crops. Summer and Autumn the work consist mostly of taking care of the animals, weeding and harvesting. Farm work is mostly outdoor and requires some physical strength, so if you normally have a desk job, our farm is probably not the best choice. We normally starts the day at 8 am feeding and tending the animals so it is important you like to get up early.
We include our travellers in all of our daily life and treats you as a part of the family so we also expect you to be proactive and helpful as you would in your own family. We are manly looking for responsible mature people who are not afraid of hard physical labour, you must love animals and be able to put their needs and welfare in front of your own. We prefer travellers with some experience in animal care or farming or who grew up in the countryside.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We expect you to be a part of our daily life and work. We are easy going people and like to have a lot of friends visiting and helping on the farm, so you will meet a lot of Danish people. We will provide food and expect you to help deciding the menu and preparing the food and cleaning up after the meal.
The public traffic is not working so well out in the countryside so we can drive you to the nearest station in the village of Sorø, from there it only takes 45 minutes with the train to go to Copenhagen.
The area around the farm has so much beautiful nature and lots of forest. So if you enjoy running, hiking or biking this place is perfect.
