My time there was rich in presence, respect, kindness and care. I appreciate the element of faith within the space, without it ever being forced on anyone. The work/tasks are very reasonable and fair. The energy is clean and good. Stefano is a wonderful host. He is thoughtful, considerate and can stir up some laughs. I respect all that he's done there because it's indeed a lot and am very grateful to him for my time there and our friendship. The place is a space for you to have space for yourself, and/while nourishing through sharing space with others (if they happen to be there). In terms of the area/location, there are multiple paths to explore by foot right around the house; perfect for walking or running. The chapel is a place for peace and self- great for prayer, meditation, yoga, etc. There is a train station in the nearby town that can bring you to Rome within 45 minutes. It's an unforgettable place with wonderful people. If this place speaks to you it's absolutely worth reaching out.

I stayed for 1 week with Gordon and Marion. What a lovely couple. Marion is so loving and caring and Gordon warm in his own way. I had a nice apartment all for my self where I could cook, but Marion made such a lovely lunch every day. I worked in the garden, and I think that we all were very happy about the result. The island is beautiful and really worth visiting. Thank you so much for a great time.

Nolle is an amazing person, very responsible, respectful, a great colleague, and an excellent volunteer. During his time here, he always performed his tasks impeccably; he's a sociable person with whom you can have interesting conversations, and he's a very smart and funny guy. He always respected the schedules, the rules, the guests, and his colleagues. I highly recommend him. I hope he returns to Mérida soon.

It was an honour and a privilege to be able to spend 10 days at Oscar's jungle home. His lovely mum Nellie was also visiting and we had such an amazing time. Oscar is keen to share the jungle culture and his Colombian heritage. He is a great cook, we will miss our breakfast arepas 😔 While staying at Oscar's we felt instantly welcomed and at home! Oscar is at the start of his project having recently purchased this amazing house in the jungle. We stayed in the wooden cabin 30m from the main house, it is quiet and peaceful and has stunning 360 degree views of the jungle - plus a hammock that you can watch the monkeys playing in the trees from! Oscar’s house is near the river and he also has a giant fish pond (30 x 50m) where you can relax and swim. The local village is around a 10 minute walk away and there is a shop which sells delicious local food and in the evenings the village comes out to have volleyball matches. It’s a really great community! While we were there we did around 2 hours work each day and shared food costs between us. The weather is unpredictable - it’s literally in the Amazon jungle - but Oscar was extremely attentive with the missions he gave us to do and there was always lemonade after a hot days work!! We did various tasks such as, painting, machete mowing the lawn, clearing the grass out of the fish pond, planting and litter picking. Things to bear in mind, as Oscar is at the start of his project, there is no running water yet, showers are done in the river (a tributary of the Amazon SO COOL) or in the fish pond. There is a toilet, it flushes by tipping down collected rain water. The village has a tap where you can collect drinking water a 5 minute walk from the house. Things to bring!! Insect repellent!!!! Insect repellent containing deet is a must, bring long clothes for the evenings. Oscar also has incense like coils that are very effective. also bring a mosquito if you have one. Grippy shoes - there is no mud, only clay so when it rains the ground turns into a full slip and slide!! Oscar does have wellies too! A good torch and headlamp! With spare batteries. It get dark early, we were there in March and it was pitch black by 6:30pm. A good power bank!! The house runs off solar - starting in March is rainy season!! There is one box to charge things on but for two soles you can take to the shop and they charge for you! The house has electricity and runs on solar, so some days there is more electricity than others! There is no fridge in the kitchen. So when purchasing foods buy foods that are non perishable and can withstand being out in the heat. In summary we had the most incredible time here and it genuinely is a privilege to stay here with Oscar, he really makes the place come alive with his zest for life. We cannot recommend this Workaway enough. Thank you so much for having us Oscar we wish you all the best in your future!! 😊😊😊

I got to spend two weeks with Dan and his family at their amazing house. It was my first Workaway experience, and it was fantastic. I received a very warm welcome and felt right at home. I had the opportunity to help out with lots of different tasks. In the house, on the property, and I even got to help with some small construction projects. It was a lot of fun. The atmosphere was great, and I felt very comfortable. I highly recommend Dan as a host. Thank you for the wonderful experience

I spent a wonderful time in Corio together with Sonai, Fruu and their cats! I was staying with them for a bit over a month and watched out for the little felines. I still had a great cultural exchange with them! It was very relaxing and I had a lot of time to explore the area. It’s close to Mount Soglio and there were so many hiking trails and beautiful views on the mountains, rivers and forest. Even though it’s quite remote there is a good bus connection in Corio and you can get around very well with the bicycle. The little cats are extremely cute!!! All of them have their own character. Moro was a bit shy on the first day but after that he was around me almost the entire time he spent in the house and wasn’t on one of his adventurous evening strolls. Miso also likes to explore the surroundings similar to her brother but otherwise they are complete opposites. She would always be completely patiently waiting for her food while Moro is all over the place. I will truly miss Miso and Moro hiding between the grass in the darkness and jumping when I was walking to the compost. Biru is so small and adorable! Her squeaking is so special! I hope some day Fruu or Sonai will find a good way to record the sounds of Biru. And Lumi.. where do I even begin? At first it was a bit difficult to feed her and give her medicine because she is scared of strangers. Day after day it got easier and after the first week I could even pet her! She is so soft and magical once you get to know her! I am glad she found her home with Fruu and Sonai. They are lovely people! It was such a nice stay and I am happy about meeting all of them!

Yarin was the first friend who came to visit and help with the project. I still remember the moment he arrived because he was also the first official volunteer I hosted. In a way, we were both starting something new at the same time. Yarin spent most of his twenties building his own business and then chose to step away from it to explore what else the world has to offer. My place became the first stop on his bigger journey through Japan, and I am grateful that our paths crossed. From the very beginning we had a great connection. Even before he arrived we had an onboarding call where we could not stop talking. Once he came, we worked together on the project and he helped a lot with moving things and getting many tasks done. He was always ready for action and often the first one to jump in and help. Yarin was curious to explore everything happening here. From painting and cutting wood to helping build parts of the garden. He also showed incredible cooking and organizational skills, which made daily life around the house smoother and more enjoyable. He was open to experiencing the full rhythm of life here. We spent time on nature walks, meditation, grilling food outside, roasting marshmallows, and meeting neighbors. He also practiced both Japanese and English while staying here. Communication during the stay was simple and clear. We talked things through and organized everything without problems or complaints. Yarin respects the environment, is ready to learn, and has a lot to offer with his own experience and perspective. I am very grateful for the time we shared. Thank you for being part of this journey. I wish you the best of luck in your adventures ahead.

Our time in Pilen with Rodrigo, Dani, and Tahiel was one of the most special experiences throughout our 3 month journey in Chile. They are extremely kind, generous, and patient people. We felt instantly welcomed into their family and had so much fun learning from one another through our spanglish conversations. We were also lucky enough to stay during a couple of visits from their extended family, all of whom were equally warm and friendly! We ate so much wonderful food (Dani and Rodrigo are culinary geniuses). It was always very clear what was expected of us and got to work on various tasks alongside them as well as individually. We worked in the farm fields and the gardens weeding, watering, and harvesting, and in the kichten baking bread, making fruit salads and so many other delicious things. We also had the opportunity to learn some bioconstruction techniques and other forms of utilizing materials provided by the land. The learning opportunities were bountiful and we feel grateful for these as well as for our new friends! Gracias por todo familia ♥️

Thomas and Naomi stayed with us for two weeks, and during that time we became good friends. It was a really enjoyable and meaningful experience to share the space and work together. Naomi is a very creative person. Her background as a diving instructor and photographer opened my eyes to parts of the world I was not very familiar with. Even while helping with renovation work and garden building, she found the time and inspiration to create something beautiful for the space. She made a small bamboo lamp that became a special piece for our place. It actually helped me decide on the name of the space, “Lapa ” Everyone who visits in the future will be able to see her work there, which makes it even more meaningful. Thomas is a man with many hidden gems behind his humble presence. Simple, but powerful. During the time he was here he shared many interesting perspectives and knowledge. I learned that he has experience with music and also strong knowledge of supply chains, which led to some great conversations and helped me make sense of some things I was working through. Together we worked on different renovation and garden tasks, and they were both always willing to help and participate. We also shared many laughs along the way. It is not easy to find people you instantly feel comfortable with, but with them it happened naturally. Communication during the stay was easy and clear. Everything was organized through simple conversations and mutual understanding, without problems or complaints. Thomas and Naomi are kind, thoughtful people and exactly the kind of people I enjoy having around. The world is a better place with people like them in it. Thank you both for being part of this journey. I wish you the best in your adventures ahead.

It was a life changing experience for me. So much I’ve learned with the kids, with Francis’s family and with the way of life. They will be always in my heart. I tried my best to show activities I’ve learned when i was a child and all the fun games my father used to do with me and my friends. Show them a bit of Brazil including music (which I believe it was what they liked the most - to be honest i am sure they miss dancing the songs i taught them to dance lol) Anyways the kids are very caring, very happy, fun, smart and have beautiful dreams that i hope they achieve with the help of Francis and more volunteers. Love you all Kigungu family!!!

Dorota and Wojtek and their three kids were able to create a really welcoming atmosphere the minute i stepped into the house, topped by tasty, hearty, polish food cooked by Dorota and a self-brewed fruit-vodka by Wojtek. Witamy in Poland! During my two weeks with the family i worked on different garden projects like cutting branches, bushes, getting rid of tree stumps and mole hills or painting a wooden bench, all the time enjoying perfect sunny spring weather. When i came into the house, Dorota had always prepared some lunch, we had a coffee together and chatted about anything and everything. Dorota always says her english is bad, but actually it`s absolutely fine to have a decent conversation, so keep on practicing with other workawayers please :) Wojtek usually worked during the day, but when he was free, we also had some really inspiring talks about his time in the UK as an Au Pair or polish and german economy nowadays and one day we worked in the garden side by side, chatting along. In between i played with the two young ones (unfortunately the eldest daughter kept her distance most of the time, but maybe that`s normal for her age), taught them to count in german or prepared their breakfast and lunchboxes one morning. They also made sure, that i had enough leisure time to explore the region, first jogging, then on Wojteks bicycle, going to see the nearby desert and finally on his motorbike and even spontaniously as a driver for Dorota and the kids at a birthday party. They dropped me in Krakow on the weekend to make sure i would also do some sightseeing and on my last night we even went to Wisla to meet some old friends from Wojteks time in the UK and had a wonderful evening in a local restaurant. Dzienkuje bardzo everyone, including the lovely old Retriever Lola, who followed me everywhere in the garden and the cuddly cat Elsa, who came to my room in the evenings. I learned a lot about countryside life in Malopolskie, took some phrases in polish with me and know now how to make "grzane piwo" with egg yolk and sugar, a receipe i will never forget :) Take care and thank you for being such a welcoming family!

Aileen fitted into our home incredibly quickly, it genuinely felt like she became part of the family from the moment she arrived. She has such a sunny, light-hearted nature and brought a lovely positive energy to everyday life here on the farm. She is intelligent, hardworking and curious, always asking thoughtful questions and showing a real interest in learning and understanding what we do. At the same time, she struck the perfect balance between being independent and wanting to be involved in family life, which made hosting her very easy and enjoyable. Aileen is easy-going, easy to please and simply a pleasure to have around. She took farm life in her stride and fitted in seamlessly with both the work and the social side of things. We especially loved that she chose to extend her stay, which meant we could show her more of the very best of Taranaki. We miss her lots and would welcome her back anytime. Any future host would be very lucky to have her.

Bernita did a great job looking after my retriever and keeping my home spotless. I realised that I needed to make instructions clearer at times perhaps due to the language barrier however Bernita completed all jobs thoroughly which was appreciated. I recommend Bernita to other hosts with an awareness that she is also needing time to do her regular job remotely so ideally a separate office space would be preferable.
