Yann and Pauline assisted with gardening and cleaning. They were independent, self managed, and easy to communicate with. They are lovely people and I'd recommend them to anyone who is lucky enough to have their help. They made a huge difference to my garden with the bigger tasks that I don't get to. Now when I look at my garden I feel great satisfaction. The house cleaning was also much appreciated.

I had the pleasure to stay with Anthony and his mom Martina for 2 weeks! Their home is really welcoming and the work is dynamic. I made some flyers on canva, worked in the garden, made banana bread and cooked for the other volunteers and guests. Being able to join the yoga class and cacao ceremony was amazing! All meals being included is also a great perk! To consider before you apply : The house is surrounded by a wonderful garden, unfortunately it's on a really busy road. I'm not a light sleeper but still the noise had an impact on my sleep and my energy - bring earplugs! Even though it's located in Masaya, it's closer to Managua. Still possible to visit Masaya and Granada from there, but more doable on your days off than after work :) Anthony can be very sarcastic and he doesn't shy away from debating his volunteers/guests political views/opinion/values and challenging their food restriction. He wasn't keen in answering my clarifying questions about the tasks, which impacted the communication. Overall it was a positive experience in my travels around Nicaragua! Thanks Anthony & Martina for this exchange!

We had a wonderful experience hosting Rikki during the 6 weeks she stayed with our family. From the very beginning, she connected perfectly with all of us, and the children felt comfortable and familiar with her almost immediately. Rikki is very easy to live with: she is sweet, organized, considerate, fun, and highly responsible. She brought a warm and positive energy to our home and quickly became part of the family. We are truly happy to have shared this time with her and feel very grateful for the experience. She absolutely deserves the very best, and we wish her all the happiness and success in her future adventures.

We had a lovely stay in Rotorua doing some tasks around the house like mowing and cleaning. We could stay at the sleepout even Caro was not there all the time. Thanks for your trust!

Monika and Miro are very caring and a responsible couple. They are open to new tasks and excel in a fast paced environment. They are professional and provided excellent customer service to our customers. They always ask if we needed anything extra beyond their regular hours and happy to help anytime. I highly recommend Monika and Miro, they are open to new challenges and are very adaptable. Monika is a great cook and Miro is great at fixing machines and repairs. We look forward to hosting them again at our lodge in the future. We highly recommend Monika and Miro with their next host. Happy Travels! Jennifer

Grateful that this was our first workaway experience!! Gus is generous, communicative and caring. He always checks in with people, making sure that everyone feels seen and comfortable. His project is really inspiring and the area is sleepy and beautiful. We saw some amazing summer storms and truly the most beautiful skies I’ve ever seen in my life. Lots of rainbows and lightning. The other workawayers were great people; it was always a joy to share dinners, talk and play games together. It felt like a little family. The summer heat can get pretty intense but Gus is really accommodating and prioritizes everyones wellbeing. Excited to see where this project goes, I hope we can come back in the future!

Our Workawayer Lia From my beloved Greece , was a part of a team at my bar for two weeks, far too short as it occured we have many topics to talk about, discuss ,share, exchange!!! Lia is a great help in many tasks she knows how to work in team, high culture person, well travelled and has many to say about life. She was helpfull making our famous Winter Teas! Drinks , preparing simple finger food when needed, was open for exchange views on our Bla Bla language exchange Wednesday’s Table people, highlight of her stay was Bossanova concert we were organised on Val Day with Brazilian singer with jazz band where were were able dancing along our work dancing even with our previous Workawayer Judith a German and other people!!! I recommend Lia very strong, so do not hesitate and just invite her to your place!!!! If you have the chance to host her, just say yes — you won’t regret it! Thank you, Lia, for the wonderful time — hope our paths cross again somehow as I have a feeling we didn’t finish our conversations !!! Good luck in your travels and life in general!!! The absolute highlight was the Bossa Nova concert we went to together! We danced the night away with Lia, our previous Workawayer Judith, and lots of other lovely people — pure joy and great memories! Lia is a high-culture, well-travelled person with so much to share about life, travel, and everything in between. She brings warmth, curiosity, and good energy wherever she goes. I recommend Lia very strongly — without any hesitation! If you have the chance to host her, just say yes — you won’t regret it! 💫 Thank you, Lia, for the wonderful time — hope our paths cross again soon! ☺️

Henri is a great gardening talent and there's a lot to learn from him in the garden. I live in Munich and since last summer Henri's garden was a refuge from the city for me..I hope more people who live in Munich, can come and help him with his ongoing gardening project, as there is always a lot of work to do there.

Alexis stayed with us for three months. We were absolutely grateful that she came when she did as it turned out to be a very busy time for our family. She was able to drive our daughter to her theatre, singing, and cello classes, and to school, which was so helpful for me. She could then do things in town that she enjoyed until the rehearsal or class was over, which allowed me to get more done and not have to be in a car so much. We live on top of the mountain, so going anywhere requires a lot of driving, especially more draining when I have to bring the toddlers along. She also gave our daughter and another Workawayer who was here surfing lessons! She is really good with the kids and has a lot of positive energy. It is clear that she knows how to interact with children of all ages in an appropriate and helpful manner. She also helped around the land as well 👍🏼 She was good at declutterizing and organizing. She helped take down some old construction that needed replacing. She was willing to help with some construction projects, we just weren’t ready to start them at the time. Alexis always put in more time than necessary, as she doesn’t like to sit around, and that was greatly appreciated, especially since I had overbooked our 11 year old with fall activities which created so much extra driving. We loved hearing all about her experiences living in Panama for eight years!! And now we really want to go 💜 I recommend Alexis for your Workaway 😊

We had a really nice time at the rafting lodge. The cleaning work was quite easy, and the afternoons were usually calm and relaxing – a good opportunity to enjoy the surrounding nature, the animals, and the waterfall near the lodge. Johanna, Kirk, and the whole rafting team were friendly and helpful, and we met many other nice Workawayers during our stay. Not having Wi-Fi or regular power supply was a bit challenging at first, but we actually ended up enjoying it. The wildlife around the lodge is impressive – we saw toucans, many other beautiful birds, monkeys, and more. Overall, we can really recommend this Workaway experience :)

I spent several weeks here with Alain and Howard in August/September 2025 and again in January/February 2026, and I have nothing but words of gratitude for the experience. From the very beginning, they were warm and welcoming, and the place itself is truly stunning. The arrangement was simple: in exchange for five hours of work a day, Monday to Friday, I received free board and lodging (and Howard is a wonderful cook!). In practice, however, on quite a few days we worked fewer hours, and the tasks were straightforward and easy to manage. What’s more, whenever we went on trips around the area, they always paid for my meals, even though they were under no obligation to do so. That, to me, says a great deal about their generosity. One of the highlights of my time here was listening to 19th-century composers in the music room, it felt truly magical. I also had the chance to practise both French and English, and to teach Spanish to Alain. We often shared long conversations in the evenings, which made the cultural exchange feel genuine and enriching. All in all, it was such a rich cultural and linguistic experience that I gladly returned.

Good conversation skills: Mailys understands easily, has wit and humor, is very attentive and emotionally intelligent. She is an eager learner, and is helped with a full in-depth explanation since she wants to learn more. She asks the right questions to help you with the project and is a helpfull assistant. We had some points in common (mountain&hiking) and shared good times and loud laughs. She is open, enthousiastic and a positive attitude, also great household habits which makes it easy to live with her and enjoy your daily rythm. She has experience coliving and that is something that makes her very fast integrated in the house. Also she is very well organized and wants to get things going, and has her well deserved break with a content smile. When plans or wishes are uttered, she is fast to get things done. She was absolutely great with the dogs and has a big heart ❤️ and respect for animals.

Jeanne has been an excellent fit at our place. A mature, adaptable young lady with good english, she has worked hard and has been diligent in completing work to a high standard. She looks for tasks and has helped around the house (kitchen), without asking and her veganism has not been disruptive at all. More importantly she has been excellent company and intuitively moves from interesting conversations to entertaining herself (reading etc). We will miss her and I wish her short time in NZ allowed more time at our place!. Highly recommended.

My friend and I spent 3 weeks here, in the middle of paradise. Rachel's house is on the opposite side of the island (away from all of the partying) and right next to the beach, making for a peaceful beach oasis. As Rachel was not around for the majority of our stay, we were tasked with some dog-sitting, cleaning, and house painting. The private accommodation is big and well-equipped and we were able to use the bicycles to ride into town to buy groceries and supplies. Rachel is very communicative and made us feel right at home!

I spent one week with Lucre and 3 more volunteers. Few nights I had to share a small room with an other volunteer, which I did not know when I wrote her. So there might be not too much space, if there are other volunteers. Lucre is a very active and hard working woman. Also fun and very welcoming and friendly. The work in the Jardin was nice, but at this time a storme was around the area.. I would defenitly go back to Lucre! :)
