Chris was an exceptional guest, and we are very grateful for the time he spent with us. We have honestly never met someone who works as hard as he does. No matter the task, bringing out compost, moving heavy beams, cleaning up, or anything else that came up, he approached it with energy, commitment, and a great attitude. His work ethic really stood out and made a big impact on our daily life here. He also helped consistently with daily chores in the house, which we truly appreciated. Although he mentioned being a bit shy at first, he blended into our family almost immediately. He built a lovely connection with our youngest, spending a lot of time playing and engaging, which meant a lot to us. Chris was very curious and proactive, always looking for ways to help and learn. We really enjoyed our conversations with him and learning more about his life in Montreal and his work. Chris left an everlasting memory. He is a very pleasant and easy person to have around. We would highly recommend him to any host, and of course he is always welcome back here, the hammock is ready for him anytime.

I felt extremely comfortable and welcome at Pedro's place. It's a perfect spot to calm down the mind and reconnect with nature and animals. The house I stayed in was big and offered lot's of space for playing, reading, drawing and experimenting in the kitchen. I also enjoyed the work, it was simply, kind of meditative and a bit sweaty... it couldn't have been more balanced. Pedro showed himself very caring and made sure that the house would feel like my own. THANK YOU! I want to back ASAP! All the best, Sue

I spent two weeks at David’s place, nestled between hills covered in forests. The weather in March was stunning, though it often cooled down below 0°C at night. I got to enjoy nature’s beauty by exploring the surroundings, hiking the different peaks, and often times just by witnessing the quiet. Besides that, spending time with David’s children, who have endless energy, was lots of fun. They are adorable, curious, and joyful, while also respecting boundaries when communicated. My tasks varied between collecting, cutting, and storing wood for winter, doing dishes, helping with cooking, entertaining the kids, picking nettles, plastering, and fixing fences. Most of the time, it was totally up to us volunteers which tasks we wanted to take on. There was no specific schedule, and we weren’t told to work; it was much more self-organized, which I was fine with. David was always willing to show and explain any task and answer any questions. Dinners, which were always delicious, were eaten together, usually followed by board games or conversations about all sorts of things. Although we didn’t always share the same views, I felt part of the family, and it was a harmonious togetherness😊. Thanks for the experience David!

I had an amazing ten days with Alexis, Monica and the two girls. They were from the start very clear about expectations and very welcoming :) The planning process and organisation was very smooth. During the workaway, they were always very happy to share more about Catalan culture and even spoke some Spanish with me as I was really keen to learn. We had some dinners together, which were really nice. They also gave me good recommendations on what I could visit in Barcelona and around the city during my free time. And of course, the girls were very sweet and it was lovely to spend time with them. We had lots of fun together and they were always very well behaved! It was overall a really beautiful experience and I am so grateful to Alexis and Monica for being wonderful hosts :)

The place is really great and very beautiful. Like an oasis in the mountains with the cat, horse and chickens. Also the Communication was very bad. I wanted to make sure to respect their privacy and their timescedules, so i asked how things should be done. They told me to find my own rhythm in the first week. The next week she said that i started working too late, so i changed it. Then i started when they wanted (what was absolutely no Problem but just tell me to start at a specific time, Not to find my own rhythm If this is a Problem for you) The week after Maria Said i was still Late, what simply was Not the truth. Except of This I thought everything was alright but sadly the other Volunteer informed me that Maria came to me to Speak about me… Maria talked behind my back about how bad my timescedule is and that I eat to much. But to me Maria appeaed as always the friendliest, positive Person. I would have never thought that she does not get along with me. She also did Not respect her own borders of privacy. Because of the simple fact she could Not communicate it properly. They did Not wanted me in theire House for Long or me sitting in Front of the fire. But when i asked whether i could stay or had to leave the house, she would Never tell me to leave…? This did not make any sense to me. Especially when you Host Volunteers in your house you should be able to communicate your borders. It felt like she had to always be sooo nice to everybody to just know that she is the happy-positive Person. But in reality i think she did not have a positive view towards me. So it would have been way easier to just talk. Sadly my stay had to end 3 weeks earlier, out of nothing. Suddenly Maria said that there was „nothing left to do“ so they could not provide any work for the other volunteer and me. It really felt like a lie because in such a place there is always something to do, it was really trustbreaking. The next day I heared the voicemail, she sent to the other volunteer, in which she says that of course the other volunteer could stay longer, it was all „the freaked out guy from the City“. I left by foot walking to the next village Maria is not making sure that people unterstand here needs and borders, because she is not communicating it properly. Then she blamed it on me (of course she didnt wanted me to know it so she sent voicemails to the other volunteer talking bad behind my back) So to summarize: The place is great, the nature is incredible and the waterfall stunning. But when you want to be at a Place where people communicate open, are friendly (Not Fake-friendly because of their ego) and real, you should not come here. I think it was a mismatch

We spent 6 weeks with Frank and Junko and received a very warm welcome. During our stay, we helped maintain their property by cleaning the pool, mainly collecting leaves, doing pet sitting, and general cleaning tasks. In exchange, we were accommodated in very comfortable conditions and shared many warm and enjoyable moments with our hosts, as well as with the other volunteers we met along the way. It was a truly wonderful experience that we highly recommend. We would be very happy to return and spend more time with Frank and Junko in the future.

Such an amazing family. Andi and Ella are the nicest couple we’ve ever met, always trying to do good for us in every possible way and making it the best Workaway experience. We truly felt like part of the family from the very first moment. Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner we shared turned into interesting conversations about all kinds of topics, and we learned so much. We learned a lot about alternative medicine and herbs, off-grid living, and martial arts—but I feel like that was only the tip of the iceberg. Simon and Samuel taught us German through their homework, which we really enjoyed. Not to mention all the fun we had sledding in the snow and building an igloo together.

We felt so welcomed from the very first moment with the family. In just two weeks, we experienced so much—ski trips, ice skating, bobsledding, and relaxing sauna nights. It was a short stay, but absolutely amazing, and so many great things happened. Natalie is an incredible cook—not to mention that all her food is organic and mostly made from scratch. She also makes amazing tempeh, kimchi, sauerkraut—you name it, she has it! Our work didn’t even feel like work because we had such nice conversations with Roland. We learned a lot about wood and forest work, along with having open-minded discussions about life. And also we participated in fun projects like painting a big flower plant inside their kitchen, so cool. With the kids, Arik and Vito—our little German teachers—we had so much fun together. We can’t wait to see you all again!

Thesi is the coolest woman ever—very warm-hearted and welcoming. She always checked to make sure I was having a good time. Right upon my arrival, she introduced me to the beautiful city of Vienna, where I spent a wonderful weekend less than an hour from her place. She prepared some of the very best traditional Austrian food, along with other healthy and delicious meals. I had a great time working at her place, helping with various tasks around the house in a beautiful setting. Her dogs are absolutely lovely—I really enjoyed taking care of them. My favorite task was feeding Pauli, the mini pig. And I have to mention that her knitting tips were life-changing!

And this is review ! 🙇‍♀️ Kotone, thank you for everything.you were a great help to us. Even though your stay was only two weeks, we created many wonderful memories together, and the time passed so quickly. Kotone is polite, considerate, and always ready to help whenever needed. From the moment she arrived, her warm and considerate personality made her very easy to live with. She was always helpful and willing to support us with various tasks such as cleaning, gardening, and assisting Romy with cutting work for her job, which was a great help to us during her stay. She was also very flexible and understanding when plans changed, which we really appreciated and made everything run smoothly. Kotone kindly cooked delicious Japanese meals for lunch, and she always took initiative in cleaning up afterwards. We shared many meaningful and enjoyable conversations together, talking about our daily lives and cultural differences. She has a very open and positive way of communicating, which made our time together especially nice. It was lovely to see her enjoying exploring the city of Vienna and watch theatres as well. In her free time, she spent time playing with my children, whether it was card games or running around in the park. She was patient, caring, and playful with them, and the children absolutely loved spending time with her. Overall, having Kotone stay with us was truly a wonderful experience, and she was a great support to our family. We would warmly recommend her to any future hosts.

I had two very nice weeks here! Paolo has a very big knowledge in permaculture and is well established in the local community. Working felt more like practical gardening lessons, as Paolo appreciates questions and answers them all with big pleasure. Besides work we often went out to take part at the local life by meeting his friends, having a drink and more. Besides that, Paolo is a great cook and you can talk openly with him about your needs as he is very flexible and considerate. Back in city after my stay I realised how quiet it was here – you just hear the birds, some wind in the trees and a few owls crying at night! So, I definitely recommend this place, as it is an unique exchange and learning opportunity while reconnecting with the calm of nature! 😊

Hi workawayers! I truly believe that choosing Tom's farm as my volunteering experience in Tassie, It was the best choice I could ever make! Plus, If you are a girl that travels alone like me, and want to visit Tom and volunteer in his farm, girl don't worry, u are safe here, Tom has never made me feel uncomfortable, He is truly the best! I always felt respected. He had traveled a lot around the world, and he also knows what it means been far from home. He is very funny to be around, there will be times where you'll chat while having dinner or lunch together and I think that's one of the best things about volunteering; sharing ideas, opinions, talking about life experiences, bonding even if you are from different countries with different backgrounds. About the volunteering, He was always there, ready to teach me something new and explain to me how to do stuff that I never done before. The experience reflects 100% Tom's profile, He'll give u different tasks so everyday it'll be different so the motivation and the mood is gonna be always high! You will meet a lot of incredible lovely animals! Pygmy goats, highland coos, chickens, roasters, a giant Flemish rabbit and two gorgeous and lovely dogs, Buddy and Freya! All the animals are treated with kindness and respect, they are very free and Tom loves each one of them! You'll have a lovely room and a comfortable bed to rest after work. There are paths on Tom's property that are 100% worthy to explore! Tom's project is bigger that "just a farm"! He's been working for years to make wild life in the area, easier and smoother. In the area you'll see wallabies, kangaroos, wombats, Tassie devils and more! More luck after sunset. Be careful if you drive in the area after the sunset. Thank you Tom for everything! You made my Tassie adventure and stay unforgettable! KEEP TASSIE WILD! ❤️

I stayed with Holly and Warren for about a week, and it went by so fast! They are very welcoming, kind, and make sure you feel comfortable and included in everything. I loved taking part in all the activities and getting a real sense of their daily life. It was amazing to discover their culture, see their beautiful farm, and spend time with the lovely dogs. I’m really happy to have met Holly, Warren, and their 4 incredible kids, and I hope to be able to come back and see you again!

Joan and Niels are wonderful people. They know a lot about how vegetable gardening, are hard working people, are proactive and always find solutions to issues. It was agreat experience to have them here. Joan cooked some traditional danish dishes who were very tasty and will probably become part of the dishes we eat often. I can only recommend them to any host.

This family is so amazing and I can't thank them enough! I stayed with them for one month in Feb 2026. The house and location is incredible! It's outside of london so you don't feel too much in the city, but it's also only a short way away from the center of london, so you can get there easily. Serena and Christian are 10/10 parents, they know exactly what they are doing and I'm so happy I got to learn from them! They are also kind, funny, and loving people so I know anyone who stays with them will have a good experience! Both kids are absolutely darling and I love them both soooo much!! They are wild and energetic boys, but they are also very kind, smart, and creative. The work was easy and hardly felt like work. Some basic cleaning, picking the boys up from school or dropping them off (5-10 min walk), playing with the boys or taking them to the park, or helping Serena with some gardening or oddball jobs. Very very easy :) Big thank you to Serena and Christian for welcoming me into your home!! You are so amazing! I highly recommend these hosts to any volunteer!

I had an amazing experience at P´Noi and Manee's farm! There is a big freedom with the work task, and possibility to help with what you find most interesting. But you need to have a strong independency, and do stuff on your own, not relaying on Manee to guide you. I was so lucky to work with the biochar on a project focusing on different biochar and fertilizer mixtures for optimal plant growth. It was nice to be able to put up these experiments, and follow the changes. I was there for about 3 weeks and could already see small results!! Manee is also really good at collaborating with the locals and have a lot of friends she took us to visit! There is lots of workshops with locals and Muay thai training very close to the farm! Thank you for an amazing first workaway experience, I wish you all the best and can wait to follow along:))

Sorry it's taken so long to write this feedback, I stayed with Marissa and her family for two months in November-December 2025. I have no words really. They are so amazing and they are like a second family to me. Both kids are incredibly smart and creative. Martin is very kind and loving. Marissa is incredibly smart and she is a wonderful person, friend, and mother. The work was easy and very laid back. I mostly just saw what needed to be done and did it. I never kept track of hours, I just tried to be helpful and in return I got treated like family. Their shower broke while I was there and the house ran cold, but any inconvenience was not an issue, and if there was any issues, they would try to fix it immediately. They were very accommodating. I can't say enough positive things about this family, I love them sooo much and I'm always rooting for them in everything they do! This workaway might not be for everyone, but to me it was the perfect fit :)
