    Description

At home, we are four (Monica, Alexis and the two daughters Iris (7) and Nora (5). We like nature both in the mountains, in the woods or at sea side. W also like traveling, playing, learning languages, meeting people and enjoying life. At home, we speak Catalan and Spanish, but we are also proficient in English and have some knowledge of German.

We live in a very cool town, on the sea front, near Barcelona but with a harmonious balance between its Catalan original cultural heritage and the newcomers from Europe and elsewhere.

The apartment is beautifully located, at the sea front, merely 40 m from the water front in direct line (100 m to the beach access), which regulates the temperature in our apartment also during the heat waves. You will love breakfast in the terrace.

If you are keen to learn from the Catalan traditions, you can join us in one of our passions, which is enjoying the local festivities in our part of the country.

We can also recommend hidden gem places in the area to get to know Catalonia with local insights.

At home, we are four (Monica, Alexis, and our two daughters Iris (7) and Nora (5)). We like nature, both in the mountains, in the woods, or by the seaside. We also enjoy traveling, playing, learning languages, meeting people, and enjoying life. At home, we speak Catalan and Spanish, but we are also proficient in English and have some knowledge of German. Importantly, we work from home (one of us in the living room).

We are looking for guests who enjoy small kids. In exchange for accommodation (only), we ask that you spend 2 hours each school day (after school around 17h) organizing playful activities in German so they learn the language. In summer (July-August), conditions might differ. Our children already have some knowledge of the language. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your knowledge and enjoy cultural exchange while living with our family.

At home, even if it is an apartment, you will have a certain level of privacy. You will enjoy the convenience of a great location in front of the Mediterranean, just a 10-minute walk from a train station that connects you with Barcelona in half an hour. We will be happy to show you around: If you want to go further, we will happily give you recommendations for nice beaches or spots in Barcelona. For us, the priority is for the kids to practice German, but if you are keen to learn Catalan or Spanish, we could help you too. However, please try to keep a certain coherence in front of the kids.

This host offers a language exchange
We speak Catalan, Spanish as native speakers and English at a proficient level, and some German. If you want to practice languages, please, let us know your expectations so we can help you. For us, it is important to have a person who interacts with our daughters in German so they can practice.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We live in an apartment, but you will have your room and private bathroom separated from the rest of the apartment so you will have some privacy.

You are welcome to use the kitchen.

You are welcome to use the terrace and enjoy the views, or use the living room (as home office means meetings, the leaving room is a quiet area during those meeting times). Furthermore, you can use the TV if you'd like, but in general, we don't use it to minimize screen time for the kids. Be careful with screens in front of the children.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live at the beach. From home, it seems you are on a boat. It means that your experience will be influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Between our apartment and the water front, there is only a road and a railroad.

Only a few meters away from the beach underpass you can enjoy the water any time of the year (in winter with a neoprene 4/3 would be enough) and practice surf, wind surf, kait surf, bodyboard, stand-up surf or downwind foil sup. The beach is very popular among surfers.

Vilassar de Mar is also a very vivid town with numerous activities all year round.

We also have a small garden a few minutes away in case you enjoy gardening.

Finally, at 10 min. walk, the train station will carry you to Barcelona city center.

While the kids are around, please be mindful of screen use. It is a smoke-free apartment. Thank you for understanding. Climate change is causing severe droughts in Catalonia. Please be mindful of water usage. We are very sensitive about it. No visits allowed.
