I had an enjoyable week at Michael's place near Alicante. We worked together on a project creating a roofing over an enclosed paved area. Michael was considerate for my welfare and did the more dangerous tasks on the roof himself which I appreciated. We worked until lunchtime, then Michael gave me the afternoons off and cooked a healthy meal for us in the evening. Michael was an interesting guy to chat to and in the evenings we had some good conversations or watched a movie. There are many areas to explore in the surrounding areas including remnants of the civil war, and one afternoon Michael generously offered me his bus card to use to visit the neighbouring town of Santa Pola. All in all a great week and I definitely recommend a stay with Michael

We had such a wonderful time hosting Vane! She is an incredibly friendly, open-minded, and positive person who fit right into our lives here in Thailand. We spent so much time laughing together that it hardly felt like work. If you’re looking for someone with a great spirit and great attitude, Vane is the perfect choice. We truly hope our paths cross again soon!

Great experience teaching English here for three weekends. It was a full weekend teaching 6 hours each day with a wide age range in n different classes. Every student was a pleasure to help and it was made easy as all the lesson plans are ready with instructions and often an assistant to help out. Teaching location was a way from the base house but no problem as a scooter is provided and costs little to fill up. I would like to go back and teach again, very rewarding !

My time volunteering here was a truly unforgettable experience. My main role was helping photograph products for the launch of their online platform. I volunteered together with a couple from New Zealand, and the time we spent with our host Maria was incredibly meaningful. Maria was extremely kind, open-minded, and always thoughtful about making sure we felt comfortable and had a great experience. During my stay, she generously showed us around the beautiful town of Xela and guided us through the area every day. She even welcomed us into her home and cooked for us, allowing us to experience real Guatemalan daily life. I am deeply grateful for her hospitality and warmth. I also had the opportunity to try weaving and learn more about the work of the incredible Guatemalan women artisans, including Ampro and many others. Seeing firsthand the dedication and skill behind their textiles was truly inspiring. I was deeply impressed by how the organization preserves traditional Guatemalan culture and weaving techniques while also exploring new approaches such as modern fashion applications and international marketing. One of the highlights of my stay was visiting the famous Chichicastenango market with Maria and her brother during the weekend. It was an amazing experience to see such an important cultural place with local guidance. Beyond the volunteer work itself, Maria was also incredibly supportive of my personal interests. When I mentioned that I would love to photograph traditional huipiles as a model to help promote the beauty of indigenous textiles, she happily prepared garments for me and helped arrange the photos. She always encouraged us to try new experiences and supported everything we wanted to learn or explore. This experience was truly special and meaningful for me. I sincerely hope to return to someday and collaborate again on future projects. Thank you so much for everything. I am deeply grateful for this wonderful experience :)

Camilla and Mati came for a short period as a last minute availability during their cycle trip across Italy. They were very helpful and friendly, and it was a pleasure to meet them, hear about their journey. They're both responsible and aware so when we did some tasks together it was a great team 🙌 I hope to see them again this way :)

Another wonderful experience with Workaway. Milton is polite, respectful, helpful and a pleasant person to talk to and exchange ideas with. He's had many Workaway experiences and it's a pleasure to listen to his stories. He carried out the work in the garden with care and responsibility and his help was truly appreciated. He also managed to find a great solution to fix a door that had been broken for years. Thanks to him I tasted banana plantain for the first time in my life! I would gladly recommend him to other hosts.

Meret stayed at the property with her baby for a short time, coming as a last minute availability. Meret is friendly, responsible and made nice vegetarian food. I was very grateful for the help - it was a pleasure to meet her and her child! They're welcome another time :))

Working here has been one of the most meaningful and inspiring experiences of my life. Among all of my international experiences, this was truly the most impactful. Originally, I planned to volunteer for two months. However, the experience was so meaningful that I extended my stay and worked for almost three months, until the very limit of my visa. I have been involved in so many ethical and sustainable fashion projects before, but this is one of the most impressive organizations I have encountered that directly confronts the challenges of the apparel industry while creating real and visible women’s empowerment. I feel deeply proud to have had the opportunity to be part of this environment. What impressed me most was the passion and commitment of everyone involved. This is a place where people are encouraged to challenge themselves and bring their ideas to life. I saw many inspiring examples of this. I also met a Ukrainian participant who came through the Erasmus program who dreams of becoming a fashion designer and entrepreneur was able to develop her own products while learning from professional designers. Many women here are building independence through fashion, gaining skills, starting businesses, and growing in confidence. During my time there, I worked with the production team to create T-shirts and bags for an artist’s live performance and garments for hospitals and schools. Working together toward production and delivery deadlines was both exciting and rewarding. I also had the opportunity to participate in community activities and events, including organizing a second-hand bazaar, celebrating their 5th anniversary where I even introduced Bon Dance to the people from Japan, and attending award events together with the team. These moments showed how creativity, community, and social purpose are deeply connected. They also generously supported my academic research. They allowed me to conduct interviews and surveys with 30 women participating in the textile training program, which became the foundation of my graduation thesis. Thanks to this experience, my thesis received an award in my university seminar, something that would not have been possible without their openness and support. In my opinion, they represent an outstanding model among NGOs and social enterprises. Its educational programs are well structured, the impact on women’s empowerment is clear, and its work is recognized not only within the social business community but also by people working at the forefront of the apparel industry. Having observed NGOs in Africa, Central America, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia, I believe they stand out as a particularly strong and innovative model with the ambition to influence the broader apparel industry. Another wonderful aspect of the program is the accommodation. The volunteer house is incredibly beautiful. A stylish space blending Greek-style architecture with the unique atmosphere of Izmir. It is both comfortable and inspiring to live in. I strongly recommend this volunteer experience to anyone interested in ethical fashion, social business, and women’s empowerment. The three months I spent here were unbelievably rich and fulfilling. This experience clarified my dreams and became a turning point in my life. I am truly grateful to everyone there, especially Pervin, Buse, Arsev, and the entire team, for welcoming me and sharing such meaningful work and experiences with me!!!

Riya and I have spent a wonderful month volunteering with the Hospital At Your Door service! The Hospital At Your Door service provided us with invaluable insight into the challenges of healthcare provision in rural Indian communities and the important role that Ayurvedic medicine plays in meeting these needs. We would each join one of the friendly medical teams heading into the communities in the mornings and observe their clinics with countless patients. As doctors from the UK, it was very interesting to see a range of less common pathologies and to discuss different approaches to healthcare provision. In our downtime, we had countless activities to keep us busy! We attended a mass wedding ceremony, local religious ceremonies (poojas and aartis), a local cricket match, and observed teaching at the school! Urvashi and Praful, the volunteer coordinators, and the compound staff were keen to get us involved in as many local experiences as possible, which has been an unforgettable and rare experience! Throughout our stay, we were in a very comfortable ensuite apartment within the compound, minutes away from the other buildings. Three vegetarian meals were served per day with generous portions. The whole compound is very safe and easy to navigate. We are very grateful for the care provided to us in our time and will always remember our time here!

Archie is a delightful young man and he was a great help around our property. He loved our animals and was great with our grandchildren, was always helpful and he even cooked us a delicious dinner during his stay. Archie was a very enthusiastic hiker and organised some great hikes in the mountains and locally. Archie is a great worker, enthusiastic traveller and is friendly, outgoing and confident. Jamie stayed with us for just one week but did SO much for us in our garden and in our house in that short time! We are so grateful for his help. And he was just the most pleasant and easy-going person to have around. Jamie approached all the tasks we gave him with care, attention to detail and initiative. He worked out the best way to do the job and did it in probably half the time of many other people, and very effectively too! Jamie got to explore the local area while he was here, and a highlight was sharing our evening meal with him each night for some stimulating dinner conversation. He also cooked for us (yum!). That Jamie always communicated very clearly was a real bonus as well. We really hope he makes good on his promise to drop by again sometime in the future. We'd love to see him again. A privilege to meet you Jamie! And wish you all the best for your travels.

Polina, Ryan, Claire, Sierra and Rayne were wonderful volunteers and a joy to host. From the moment they arrived, they integrated naturally into the rhythm of life here and were always willing to help wherever it was needed. They supported us in many ways during their stay: helping with daily tasks in the kitchen and around the space, caring for the plants, and contributing to different small projects that keep this place running. Their presence made a real difference during a time when we needed extra hands. Polina also helped us activate our Airbnb listing, which quickly resulted in several reservations, and she helped paint some walls in our planetarium space. Ryan generously stepped in to water the plants when we were short on help and also helped install the lighting in our glamping area. These kinds of contributions may seem small, but they had a meaningful impact on our project. Beyond the work, they were respectful, kind, easy to live with, and brought a great energy to our community. It was truly a pleasure sharing this experience with them. We are very grateful for the time they spent with us and they will always be welcome back. We highly recommend them to any host in the Workaway community.

I had an amazing time, I ended up staying for a month and a half! Huge thanks to Claudio and the team for having me, will visit when I next come to Boracay 😌 Stayed in a 6-bed female dorm, was always clean and tidy. Worked on reception doing guest check-in/out and hosting the karaoke nights at the weekends. Was a great way to meet all the people coming and going, good energy all round.

I stayed here for three weeks from February to March, and I can fully agree with the many positive reviews left by others. The details in short: you live together with other volunteers in a dedicated carriage house, likely sharing a room (and bunk bed) with one person. Work usually runs from the morning until lunch during the week, while afternoons and weekends are free. Lunch is cooked by one or two people in rotation, and dinners are often prepared together. Instead of the owner Arthur, you'll mostly interact with his assistant Carolina, who manages the farm and coordinates the Workawayers. What really makes this place special is a combination of several things: First, the opportunity to live and work with like-minded people from different countries means you quickly build shared routines, playlists, inside jokes, recipes, and activities together. Second, both the beautiful Okanagan Valley and the farm itself offer a relaxed and creative environment, with plenty of opportunities to cook, bake, play games, try small DIY projects, or simply enjoy the surroundings. Finally, Carolina plays a big role in this experience. She manages everything with warmth and humor, genuinely cares about the volunteers, and always has interesting stories to share from her work as an artist. In winter the tasks are less varied and mainly involve pruning the 300+ apple trees, but working as a team of five volunteers made it much more enjoyable. We also had the chance to help at a local charity organization packing donated vegetables for countries in need, and we could use the farm pickup truck to explore the area and drive around the orchard. Overall, every stay will be shaped by the group of people present, but when everyone comes together it can feel a bit like an international scout camp, with people from different backgrounds sharing ideas, skills, and experiences. I have definitely learned a lot, and I'm grateful to Carolina and my fellow volunteers for such a fantastic and memorable time :)

I stayed a short time (3 nights) with Daniel and Ora, together with another Workawayer who had started her trip earlier than me. Daniel was really easy-going and always made sure to update us on their plan for the day. As I was there over a weekend, plans were less firm but he tried to keep a balance between getting us to help in his projects and giving us free time to rest and explore the area. While helping to paint the gazebo, we had a good chat and I learnt some interesting insights from his journey from Toronto to Chiangmai, and how life is organised in Chiangmai. I appreciate that much! Ora was thoughtful to invite both workawayers to join her while she went to a cafe nearby to work by herself. It was a little me-time for herself but she thought to invite us along. I think that was sweet of her, even if she's very busy most of the time. Though I only managed to have one meal together with them, meals were not difficult to arrange as there was a marketplace about 20mins walk from the house. Thank you, Daniel and Ora, for hosting me!

I had a great experience working with Sheena and Benni. Although I was their first official workawayer, it was clear that they are already very accustomed to these types of cultural exchanges. They have a variety of tasks that you can help with depending on your skill set and what your interests are. I was comfortable and supported, and they encouraged me to offer my own creative solutions for tasks on their list. I felt particularly at home as their property is quite literally on a large trail system in a beautiful valley in Piemonte. I could go on small hikes before or after work, or take a day off to go on a longer trek. We exchanged recipes, ideas, jokes, and music. I hope to return soon! Thank you Sheena & Benni <3
