  • Description

Hi, my name's Milton! I'm originally from Ecuador but I grew up in Northern Italy, where I currently live. My career has been very diverse, but more recently, in 2025, I earned a degree in Translation, and I also hold an ESL Teaching Certificate. Besides that, I’m passionate about DIY, languages (I speak English, Italian, Spanish and a little French), music and sustainable living.

I started travelling with Workaway in 2017, after spending a year living and working in London and realizing that the big-city life wasn’t for me. I first travelled to Costa Rica and then around Europe for about 9 months: it was a life-changing experience! I met so many amazing people, got involved in unique and meaningful projects, and I learned new life and professional skills, some of which later became a passion of mine (like woodworking and DIY). Since then, I’ve been using Workaway on and off as a way to travel and visit new places from a local’s prospective, to give my contribution, and most of all as a source of personal growth and inspiration.

At the moment I'm in between jobs, figuring out what to do next after getting my degree in 2025. I’m open to all kind of projects, particularly those involving teaching languages, DIY, woodworking (I really enjoy repairing things and making new ones especially using recycled materials), but I’m also happy to help with general maintenance, cleaning, and cooking.

As you can see from my reviews, I have a strong work ethic and I embrace the Workaway community values: I will do my best to contribute to your project, whether I stay for a few days or a few weeks. Finally, in November 2019 I was awarded Workawayer of the month: https://www.workaway.info/en/stories/lifechanging-career-skills-traveller-learn-through-workaway.

Thank you for visiting my profile, and I hope to see you soon!

  • More details about your skills

Here are the main areas where I can help:

DIY/ General maintenance: I have both informal and professional experience as a handyman. I can help with basic carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical tasks. I’m comfortable using both manual and power tools (power drill, circular saw, jigsaw, cross-cut saw, etc.) and I can also help with renovation work, including painting walls.

Languages: I can help you practice languages, as I’m fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English. I’m also happy to help with translations: that’s my main area of expertise.

Cooking: I usually cook simple meals, but I have good manual skills and I’m happy to follow your instructions and help in the kitchen when needed. I can also make traditional fresh pasta, as I've worked as a cooking instructor for a few months.

Hospitality: I have over 10 years of experience in the service industry as a waiter and barista, and more recently as a receptionist. I’m happy to take care of guests, do check-ins/outs, give information, or offer them a great dining experience.

Videomaking: I’m passionate about videomaking and shooting interviews, even though I’m still learning. I have basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Illustrator, and I’d love to keep improving by helping with your video or editing projects.

  • What else ...

I try to follow a healthy lifestyle, being mindful of what I eat and drink without becoming obsessed about it. That’s why I don’t smoke, use drugs, and I rarely drink alcohol. I enjoy being in nature, hiking, or simply going for a walk. In 2017 I hiked the Camino de Santiago, which was a very profound and transformative experience. I’m also Catholic, and recently I’ve been rediscovering and learning more about my faith.

I love music, both listening and playing! I’ve played the guitar since I was 14. If you have a piano, guitar, or ukulele, it’s definitely a plus! I’d happy to play and sing with you, or even have a jam session together. I also love being surrounded by creative people in general. When possible, I’d love to join artistic or craft projects: I have good manual skills, and I enjoy sketching from time to time.

Finally, although I’m flexible and can adapt to most living situations, I’ve learned that I prefer having my own private bedroom to fully enjoy my stay, while I'm happy to share common areas. From my experience, the key to a great Workaway stay is communication and mutual respect: I work best when instructions, schedules, and expectations are clear from the beginning, and when the time (especially free time) and needs of both the host and the workawayer are respected.
