Dear workawayer :)
Important to know: Due to the corona pandemic, we are only able to accept volunteers at a limited capacity. The situation in Turkey is still not easy. There is currently a travel warning for Turkey and Turkey has been declared a "risk area" by the German government. So before you apply as a volunteer and plan your journey, please consider these facts. As an NGO we cannot take any responsibility for any cases. Thank you for understanding.
Who are we?
We, Betül and Markus, are dedicated to supporting people in need. For this purpose, we established an NGO in Germany in 2015. Since then, we have supported various projects in Serbia, Italy, Bosnia, Greece and mainly Turkey.
Our attention is mainly focused on disadvantaged refugees and Turkish women. For them, it is especially difficult to create a new, independent life with safety and dignity. Many refugee women have lost family members in war or in their travels. Many live alone as single mothers, caring for their children. These women have few income earning opportunities. Many disadvantaged Turkish women face similar conditions as well.
Our mission is to strengthen disadvantaged women, to give them independence and economic empowerment, and to inspire the next generation of young women to be confident, strong, and able to support themselves and their children. Within this framework, we decided to establish an NGO in İzmir to enhance the quality of life for women. We provide vocational training, giving them an opportunity to strengthen their employable skills. Furthermore, we conduct women empowerment workshops and seminars on various topics, such as communication and conflict resolution. Our main vocational trainings are on textiles. While women are receiving textile training, we encourage them to produce various products such as T-shirts and bags with organic fabrics.
Since we are just starting out, we need highly dedicated and motivated volunteers!
We are mainly looking for long term volunteers who will stay at least 2 to 3 months.
Our primary need is for volunteers with experience and expertise in textiles. We are seeking a volunteer with knowledge of sustainable fashion and textile practices who will be able to support our comprehensive textile training program and to give insight to our participants on the demands and complexities of the industry. Ideally, you will be able to give three to five workshops on related topics such as the supply chain, textile types, and ethical issues within the industry. We are also open to collaborate and incorporate what you deem important for our participants to learn about.
If you are interested in working with us but do not have any textile training, there are many other areas in which we could use support! For example, we need support in maintaining the daily operations of our NGO, with small building and construction projects, with conducting social cohesion and empowerment workshops, with providing childcare to the children in our child program, and with marketing and social media.
If you are interested in working with us, but cannot commit to a long-term volunteer session, you are still welcome to apply. If this is the case, we ask that you come with your own project idea, such as yoga, drawing or music classes.
Please reach out if you have any further questions and we look forward to hearing from you!
Come join us and be part of our lovely family :)

Izmir is an incredible and fascinating city to live in and explore. You will have access to people and volunteers from all over the world. You will also have the chance to experience different cultures, languages and religions, specifically Turkish, Arabic and Syrian culture.
Above all else, we need volunteers who are flexible, adaptable and able to help in lots of different ways. Certain skills are preferred but not essential, as support is needed in multiple areas. Firstly, we are searching for volunteers with expertise in sustainable textile and fashion practices. Beyond that though, we need assistance maintaining our house and garden. We also need support organizing projects and workshops, and taking care of the children in our Child Program. We could also use building, construction and warehouse support. We are also always looking for assistance in our educational and empowerment workshops. If you are adaptable, enthusiastic and creative, you will be a great asset to our team!
We offer you the opportunity to stay in an apartment with other volunteers or members of the association of the 3 Musketeers. We have 3 bedrooms and one living room in the apartment. It is in a safe and beautiful area called “Buca”. Buca is about 15min by Metro to reach the Center of Izmir or an area called “Alsancak”, close to the sea and harbor of Izmir with lots of bars and restaurants. It is important that you know you will share accommodation (shared rooms and shared toilets) with other people from all over the world (we have female and male separate rooms). We estimate to have a maximum of four to five volunteers, at the same time.
You will generally have three days off a week- Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We expect flexibility though, as there may sometimes be other demands like team activities, urgent needs, or excursions. During your free days, you may do whatever you’d like. We encourage you to discover the amazing city of Izmir with its long history and great cultural places or spend time at one of the beautiful beaches on the sea. You are also welcome to explore the rest of Turkey, which is a beautiful, unique and diverse country!
If you would like to volunteer for us, you will need to fill out a volunteer questionnaire and accept a volunteer agreement. If you get in touch with us, we will send it to you and speak further about our mutual expectations. We hope to hear from you soon!
