Description
A little lost paradise in south Cambodia needs your help!
We are situated on Pak Klang beach in Koh Kong province, just 8 km away from the border with Thailand.
From March 2020 my husband (Thibault )and I (Marija)made our dream come true by opening a small guesthouse with a few beach huts and a bar / restaurant on the beach itself. . Our goal is to make our guests feel like home, and since we live on the land as well we like to make everyone feel as part of the family. We try to be innovative and always bring new ideas to the project, and we are very open to new ideas from a different perspective such as yours!
The neighborhood is peaceful; you will be surrounded by mostly small restaurants owned by very lovely locals.
There is a local fisherman village and market just 10 min bike ride away from us. We are 10km away from the city and it is reachable by scooter that you can easily rent from somebody for cheap.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Take this chance to get to learn more about the Khmer culture by living among the locals. There is a lot to learn from their history and their life philosophy. Personally, that changed the way we see life. The Khmer are the warmest people I have met. Here you will get to meet a lot of travelers too; all having a unique story to share, and an opportunity for a lot of friendships to be made. We love learning languages too, we speak English, French, Macedonian, Croatian, Bulgarian and a bit of Spanish so if you speak or wish to learn any of these languages it would be a pleasure to exchange knowledge. In addition to that we like to do DIY projects to create anything from decorative objects to chairs and tables, so if you are feeling crafty it would be lot of fun. By helping us you would learn about business management as well. We would love to find a way to help the community as much as possible therefor any help will be greatly appreciated by the locals too.
Help
We're looking for reliable volunteers available from end of September.
Hey lovely travellers of the world!
Are you looking for a unique opportunity to experience the quiet beauty of Cambodia's coast ? Our cosy bed and breakfast beach resort in Koh Kong, Cambodia is seeking volunteer(s) to give us a hand.
SEPTEMBER TO OCTOBER (around 20th Sep-20th Oct min stay 1 month, can be extended to longer upon mutual agreement)
For this month it is still rainy season and we will be prepping the land and the resort for the reopening. That means we will need helping hand with light renovation, fixing fence, building chairs and tables from bamboo, levelling the land making sure the sand is spread even, maintenance, painting of bathroom walls , light gardening etc.
We will slowly start reopening the resort, meaning we might start welcoming the first guests of the season - renting out our bungalows only (the bar and the restaurant will be re-opened later on). Here you will be lending me a helping hand with small tasks around with the guests, making them feel like home, assisting with property upkeep, light duties around the guesthouse as needed.
Usually we require 5h of help ,, 5 days a week in exchange for one meal per day during '''working'' days, and accommodation. Since we are not yet open to public during this period the hours are flexible and we do have to adapt to the weather.
Accommodation will be either in our beach bungalows , but once they are open to the public then you will have a room in an apartment that we rent in the village nearby just 1km from our resort. You will have access to our bicycles to move around, and it is also walkable distance.
We also have a few furry and feathered friends on site, including two friendly dogs, a cat, and even two pet chickens! We do not need help with them but you can enjoy the presence of our lovely animals.
It's currently the rainy season here in Koh Kong, which means the weather can be quite unpredictable. We might have heavy rain, beautiful sunny days, or even a mix of both in one day! It's all part of the tropical charm and unique atmosphere, so it's best to be prepared for it all and embrace the natural beauty.
This place is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet, spend their time with a book in their hand while cuddling with our animals and enjoying the rain.
END OF OCTOBER TO MAY
This is high season for us so we will need assistance to our staff for the day to day activities of running the resort.
You won't be expected to take on a paid staff member's role but instead will work alongside them to help things run smoothly.
We're not just a business; we're a home, and we invite you to be a part of it. We're looking for enthusiastic people to join us and share in the experience of running our place. You will assist us and our small team with light duties that make a big difference in our daily lives. This is about working together, not working for us.
A few ways you can help:
Working with guests: Welcoming new arrivals, making them feel at home, and engaging with them to share stories and a good time.
Kitchen teamwork: Assisting with meal prep for the staff/volunteer meals - sometimes the meals are ordered from the local restaurant and sometimes we cook them.
Property tidying: Keeping the public spaces clean and inviting for everyone.
Caring for our garden: Pitching in with the small-scale gardening tasks that keep our property looking beautiful.
Social media help: You like creating photos and videos of your travels? We could always use a helping hand with our social media and love to hear creative minds and ideas!
Everything is negotiable, please feel free to express your needs and we can ensure a great exchange together!
If you're a traveller with a flexible schedule, a desire to help out in a beautiful part of the world, and you're ready for an authentic Cambodian experience, please send us a message ! Tell us a bit about yourself, your availability, and why you'd be a great fit for our team.
We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our little slice of paradise in Koh Kong!
Please include the word "pineapple" in the subject of your message so that we know you've read the whole thing. Messages not including the word will be ignored.Languages spoken

SEPTEMBER TO OCTOBER
You will be accommodated in a private beachfront bungalow with a beautiful sea view. The bungalow includes a fan and electricity, mosquito net, and you will have access to a shared bathroom with hot water. Please note that the resort will be closed to the public during your stay, offering a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. You get access to fully equipped kitchen and space to chill outside of your room, weather permitting of course.
OCTOBER TO MAY
This is high season for us ,meaning the beach bungalows are not available. We are renting a house in the village nearby that has 3 rooms and two bathrooms with basic necessities , in a rural, local setting. Photos will be provided .It is 1km from the resort, walkable distance and we also provide bicycles. What else ...
Since we are located on the beach itself there is nothing better than a relaxing beach time for your time off. If you are more of a sportive person the Cardamom mountains offer you trekking in the jungle. You can explore the waterfall, do a boat trip in the mangroves, go for a day in Koh Kong island . Koh Kong has a lush nature from mangroves, waterfalls, the mountains and the beach it is a heaven for nature lovers.
