I had an incredibly intense and rewarding time with Christian, my host. He welcomed me personally onto his beautiful land, along with his lovely mother, six adorable dogs, three cats, and a chorus of wild birds, such a heartwarming start! I originally came for a week of farm and garden work but ended up staying 10 days, diving into building the marketing strategy for his Ayurveda + yoga retreat business. With my professional background in marketing, this was a dream co-working experience. Christian loved the exchange, listened carefully, and acted on our ideas right away. As an experienced biologist with deep knowledge of yoga and Ayurveda, he sparked fascinating chats every day. The schedule was tight and immersive: morning yoga (voluntary but irresistible; he tailored it perfectly to my level and helped me track my progress), prepping and enjoying breakfast, work sessions, lunch prep and meal, rest time, afternoon tasks, evening yoga, and shared dinner prep. It’s not the spot for tons of me-time, but communication was always open, and I got days or half-days off as needed. His food is phenomenal, and his mom is an absolute delight! Language exchange was seamless; he’s fluent in English, with easy switches to Spanish. The land itself is stunning, perfectly located just 45 minutes from Medellín airport, 2 hours from the city center, and a quick 10-minute drive to the nearest town. I’m so thankful for this experience and learned a ton. Highly recommend for those seeking depth and connection!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here with Jamie and Hattie (although Jamie was mostly away at work). They are both very friendly and conversational, and have been extremely generous hosts. I stayed in the annex on my own, and had full use of the kitchen and was given plenty of money to buy my own food for breakfast and evening meals. I was offered the use of the TV in the main house, and a bike to borrow in my free time. The work was varied and the hours very fair, and Hattie cooked lovely meals for lunch. Hattie and Jamie are both very laid back and easy to get along with, and Hattie is very knowledgable about her horses. All the pets are also very friendly and calm. Jamie and Hattie are both top hosts and I fully recommend staying with them.

Sadie was an absolute joy to have with us. She is a very talented watercolor artist and brought a beautiful creative energy to the place. She created a stunning mural near the sheep area, which turned out absolutely beautiful. Sadie was always happy to help with daily life and projects. She joined in with landscaping ideas, helped think about and create a new fire pit area, and even enjoyed some trail building on the land. In the evenings we shared lovely moments together — roasting marshmallows at the new fire pit, chatting peacefully under the stars, watching a film, and enjoying good food together. She cooked a delicious chickpea curry one night, and we also shared mashed potatoes for dinner and gluten-free brownies for dessert, especially for Roos who has celiac disease. Sadie was very thoughtful and considerate of everyone. She was also incredibly kind with the animals. She was very sweet doing night duty with our new puppy Pep. Sadie is creative, caring, calm, and wonderful to be around. We truly enjoyed her presence here and would warmly welcome her back anytime. We wish her many more beautiful adventures — and lots of cheesecake in the Basque Country!

I had the pleasure of spending my first workaway experience with Sakia and her daughter Roza on their old farm in a stunningly beautiful area. Saskia is a very hospitable, empathetic and creative person who always prioritizes the well-being of her guests. I felt very comfortable with all the tasks and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere and the time spent with all persona present. I‘m already looking forward to seeing them again and wish everyone all the best.

I really appreciated the harmony and sharing of parental and logistical tasks in your relationship, your gentleness, your patience with your two boys. Your cuddles with Willow, the dog 🤭. I felt at home, welcomed and appreciated, just like with my son's friends.💖 Everything was simple, gentle, pleasant. Thank you for the quality of my stay with you. I am happy to have met you. 🙏 PS: Congratulations on Luke's singing talents during bath time.

Ivan is amazing! If you get the chance to host him, I highly recommend. Ivan is incredibly strong and skilled, and a very hard worker who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. He has experience with heavy tools, weed whackers, and chainsaws. He works well independently, and also as a team. He is trustworthy, kind, and easy-going, and took excellent care of my home and animals during his stay. We are so grateful to have met him and to have his help. We were sad to see him go and would welcome him back anytime!

Hi! My name is Maite, My experience volunteering in Vilaur (Girona) at Can Cavaller was truly wonderful. The place itself is beautiful and very peaceful. It’s a perfect environment if you enjoy nature, with lovely walks around the area and stunning views that make it easy to relax and slow down. The house is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need. During the colder months there is heating, hot water, and even a chimney that makes the space feel warm and cozy. In the summer, the terraces and the swimming pool are amazing places to enjoy the sunshine and the calm surroundings. It really feels like a home where you can live comfortably while volunteering. Blai is a very friendly and generous host. He is always open to helping if you need something and makes sure volunteers feel welcome. The work and volunteering hours are fair and reasonable, and the tasks are clear. One thing that makes this place special is the atmosphere Blai creates. He has a lot of knowledge and a natural ability to organize meaningful activities and gatherings. These moments can be very inspiring and offer opportunities to connect with nature, with others, and with yourself. If you enjoy philosophy, reflection, or simply having deeper conversations, you will appreciate the environment here. Personally, I really valued the balance I found during my stay: I had time for silence, introspection, and being on my own, but also time to share beautiful moments with interesting and kind people who came to visit. Overall, it was a very enriching experience and I’m grateful for the time I spent there. I definitely recommend visiting Vilaur and staying with Blai if you have the opportunity.

On apprécie ! On apprécie !

From the moment Eisuke first arrived, he fit in very well with us and our household rules. He worked well during his own time. He did not neglect the tasks we gave him and helped us in this regard. He helped us with housework and childcare, and we loved him very much. You can comfortably welcome him into your home.

It was truly such a nice experience to spent almost two weeks with Diogo. We learned a lot about ourselfs but also about the local portuguese life. We appreciate a lot how the working hours were managed. The first days we worked with Diogo together. We had to clean the outside of some AirB&B's to prepare them for the summer season. We had also a day off because we worked double the time the day before and we spent it with Diogo in Geres. He showed us the beatiful nature there and we did a hike to see some waterfalls. Geres did really catch us! The following days we worked on a project to renovate a small house where we were free to to manage the time ourselfs without Diogo being much around. We painted walls, cleaned the floor, put wax on it and varnished wood. It was really nice to get the trust and the responsibility. And lastly we have to mention we really enjoyed the time off with Diogo too! He gave us some insights about his life but also his business. It was inspiring and im sure we took some good advice out of it! Thank you Diogo we would love to come back someday!! Cheers :)

Neela spent around three wonderful weeks with us, and honestly, we didn’t even realize how quickly the time passed. Her presence brought a lot of positive energy to our space. Both the children and the adults truly enjoyed having her here. Neela mainly worked with the younger children and with Diksha, and in a very short time she became their close friend. The children felt very comfortable with her and loved spending time learning and playing together. She was always ready to help and showed great enthusiasm in everything she did. Along with working with the children, Neela also helped us with household tasks and was always willing to support wherever needed. She also contributed to our painting project and actively worked with the team, which made the process more enjoyable and collaborative for everyone. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and kindness she shared with us and the children. It was a pleasure having her with us. We hope to meet again soon in the future. Until then, we wish her all the very best for everything ahead.

Our volunteering stay with Claudia and Stephan was absolutely wonderful. Candice and I truly loved the location, the meaningful exchanges we had, and the overall peaceful atmosphere of the place. Regarding the work, we followed a schedule of 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Stephan was very flexible with both the tasks and the hours, which made the collaboration very smooth and stress-free. A huge highlight was the food! We shared all our meals with the family, and the cooking was excellent, always made with high-quality products. We also have to mention little Madeleine, who is absolutely adorable and made our daily life there even brighter. This was a fantastic experience that we recommend from the bottom of our hearts to anyone looking for a genuine human connection. Thank you again, Claudia and Stephan! — Candice & Julien

Hayley joined us during a critical time when we needed to travel and had no one trustworthy to manage the aviaries. She independently oversaw the facility for six months, during which our lovebird population increased by a third. Although we were away for much of her stay, we spent two months with her and came to trust her fully, granting her access to our Turkish home. Hayley is now an essential part of the project. If new Workawayers join while she is managing the facility, please respect her authority as you would ours.

spent three weeks on the farm and truly enjoyed my time there. Helen and Gabriel are really the heart of the whole place. They have an incredible warmth that makes you feel welcome right away, and they are also very inspiring people. The work was fun and varied. Everything was always explained well, and I definitely learned a lot during my stay. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, and it’s amazing to see what they are creating and building there. We also had the world’s best spinach and the best beetroot I’ve ever eaten. And you absolutely have to try Helen’s jam — it’s the best! Make sure to taste your way through all the different kinds if you get the chance. thank you for this heart warming time I will definitely remember it greatly ❤️
