Hello! My name is Matt and I’m a designer currently living in Minneapolis.

I grew up in a small rural town and my childhood was filled with time spent outdoors exploring nature, doing farm and construction work, and taking road trips with the family. I pursued a career in landscape architecture because I am passionate about people and places: preserving the natural environment while creating spaces that can have a lasting positive impact within the community.

This year I decided to take a break from my career to travel and experience new places, cultures, and a different rhythm of life. I have spent the last six months roadtripping to new cities and National Parks across the United States, and in 2026 I’m excited to travel abroad to contribute on meaningful projects and hopefully meet more like-minded people along the way!

I love to spend time outdoors, share music, listen to other people’s experiences, and care for plants and animals. I’m always happy being a helping hand in the kitchen or other tasks to keep up a home. I have also been learning Spanish and am eager to develop more conversational skills with native speakers if possible.

I am genuinely excited to contribute and learn through all that this opportunity has to offer!

My professional experience includes:
- Design of public and private spaces
- Written and visual communication of ideas
- Manual labor on all construction types
- General knowledge of basic carpentry (roofing, decks, etc.)
- Landscape construction (patios, walls, plant care)
- Other DIY type jobs

I have also worked several service jobs and am comfortable managing a counter, working as a barista, and waiting tables (I have not bartended before but would be eager to learn!).

Other ways I’m able to contribute include cooking, caring for pets/livestock, support with childcare and teaching, and maintaining a clean/organized space. I have strong communication skills, am able to work well independently or in teams, and I’m diligent in completing tasks. I enjoy learning new skills and can pick things up quickly!

I love to read, write, and sketch. I enjoy exploring coffeeshops, cafes, bookstores, and art studios. Frequently in nature on hikes or staying active. I enjoy a balance of quiet downtime and outgoing adventures (solo or with new friends!).
