Description
Welcome to our farmstay experience located near the beautiful town of La Ceja, Antioquia, just about an hour east of Medellin. La Ceja, known as the Colombian town where bicycles reign, because they are used as the main means of transportation, enjoys a pleasent tropical mountain weather year round and sits at an elevation of 2100 mts. We are an organic farm of one hectare oriented to permaculture methods and the practice of Yoga and Meditation. We are a family of two at the moment (my elderly mother and myself) as well as six adorable dogs and three cats which we consider as part of our family. We are fortunate to live in an area with an abundant variety of flora and a great diversity of birds. As one of our previous volunteers put it, our local "pigeon" is the Barranquero andino (Momotus aequatorialis), an exquisite bird that is commonly seen in and around the property, as well different types of humingbirds, etc. I am a Biologist by profession but have dedicated most of my time towards the field of natural healing. Feel free to contact us for more information!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Personally, I love to share the practice of Yoga with everyone that comes to our farm. This may involve also participating in a daily fire ritual done at sunrise and sunset, known as Agnihotra, as well as chanting of mantras. Working lovingly with the land and all type of life forms is essential for what we do. Exchanging and trying new recipes is always welcomed. We encourage the practice of spanish but we are fluent in english as well.

Help
Our days normally start and end with a Yoga practice. We usually ask for about 5 hours of help a day , half in the morning, half in the afternoon. The work varies depending upon different projects, but usually involves tending the garden, the fruit trees, the cañada (patch of native forest), painting, repairing, etc. We also have a short term rental space that needs to be prepared occasionally . We hope to have one or two beehives at some point as well. We love preparing and eating good food so we appreciate the help in the kitchen. Normally we do 4-5 days of work and then 1 day off.
