Im really blessed for the time i spent in Phnom Penh with Kheng and Noah, both teaching in the Conversation Club and socialising afterwards amongst each other has made this brief WorkAway experience one of my most favorite! They both have such a good sense of humour and go above and beyond to ensure that you have an enjoyable time, I can't wait to see them again in the future! All the best until then!

This was my first workaway in France and I got to spend time with a wonderful family.I was a beginner in English and could barely speak French, but they welcomed me warmly. Joanna is a very friendly and active woman. Didier is also kind and gentle, and taught me games. The children are also very friendly, kind and cute. And Elizabeth is always cheerful. They had a very peaceful atmosphere. I fell asleep early at night and had difficulty communicating, but I'm very grateful for the warm welcome they gave me. It's a wonderful home and a wonderful family!

Our stay with Astrid and her kids was truly wonderful. We stayed for about 10 days, and from the very beginning we felt welcome and comfortable. Her children are absolutely lovely – kind, joyful, and easy to connect with. It was a pleasure spending time with them. The tasks varied, eg. maintenance work, helping around the house, cooking, picking up the kids from school, and other daily activities. What we appreciated most was the trust Astrid placed in us. She really made us feel like part of the family, not just helpers. She even introduced us to her friends and we got to spend a beautiful dinner evening together with lots of music and great conversations. It was such a special experience and made our stay even more meaningful. Overall, it was a truly beautiful experience and we would absolutely recommend staying with Astrid.

Doing this workaway was so much fun! Working for Mila was a pleasure. She's such a kind, positive person. It was cool to get to see Keelung through her eyes. She introduced us (me and the other workawayers) to so many traditional Taiwanese meals. The apartment is in a great location; right next to a bus stop, a 10 minute walk to the night market, and walking distance from a mountain full of hiking trails. It's in a very busy area, so potential workawayers should be prepared for heavy traffic and a lot noise.

Dom was an excellent Workawayer and honestly just a really solid guy to have around. We had a great time talking with him in our free time, and he brought a calm, positive energy into the house and the school. Even though Chinese New Year disrupted what was supposed to be a full teaching week, Dom still stepped in and taught our weekend classes, and he did it with real initiative and pride. On a personal level, Dom also taught me a lot and gave genuinely helpful advice that I’ll carry with me. I really wish we’d had more time together, but the time we did have was absolutely brilliant. Thanks again Dom for your help, your patience, and for putting up with my jokes haha. We hope you had a great experience too. Both me and Kheng miss you already my friend.

Alice contacted us quite last minute, and accepting her request was definitely the right decision! She joined us at a perfect time, just as we were continuing the woodwork on the second tiny house that Marco had helped restart. Thanks to her solid DIY skills and her confidence with all the tools, we were able to make great progress. She quickly became fully involved in building the roof structure and pallet walls, and her contribution allowed the construction to move forward smoothly. Beyond her practical abilities, Alice brought excellent communication skills, a thoughtful attitude, and a very positive energy to the project. She was easy to work with, attentive, and genuinely committed to doing things properly. It was also particularly touching that she chose to come back for a short visit with her mother four weeks after her stay. That meant a lot to us and says everything about the connection we shared. We are especially happy that her very first Workaway experience met her expectations, and we thank her again for her valuable help, her trust, and her enthusiasm. We wish her all the very best in her future adventures — and she will always be welcome back here!

We can't recommend staying with Lou and the dogs enough. We had such a wonderful 16 day stay there. We were sitting now on WorkAway looking at other places in Asia, seeing dogs in those ads, and just thinking of our favourites in Mexico. We loved all the dogs: Jack, Angie, Malek, Leah, Nash, Mia, Nika and Miguelito. We miss them so much, and also Lou of course, and her mother! Such wonderful persons and big hearts. We shared many meals, talked about everything regarding life and culture, laughs and funny moments. We felt very much at home and were very sad to leave. From the first minute we felt very welcome, and Lou is a superb host in every aspect, and so generous. More than anything, we gained a good friend during these 16 days, and memories we won't forget. Thank you so much for hosting us, your friendship and give kisses to the dogs!

The most loving and kind person our teachers have met in a very long time. She has tonnes of positive energy and that was infectious. Saying goodbye to Catarina was the most difficult part we all went through. Our children loved her to bit and we are thankful to her. We do miss her greatly.

We stayed with Jess and Al for four days while passing through the area and hoping to experience a short but meaningful Workaway exchange. From the moment we arrived, we were genuinely blown away by their generosity and hospitality. They welcomed us into their home with openness and kindness, immediately making us feel comfortable and included. As hosts, they were incredibly generous — not only in sharing their space and meals, but also in allowing flexibility with our working hours so that we could explore the surrounding area. That balance made a real difference to our experience. The accommodation is set up in a spacious caravan on their land, separate from the main house. It is comfortable, private, and absolutely a feasible and enjoyable Workaway setup. We had everything we needed and felt very well looked after. Their home is ideally located near a beautiful mountain range with several walking trails and waterfall swimming spots, which was an added bonus after a day’s work. Being able to head out for a hike or cool off in a nearby waterfall made the whole experience even more special. Al spent most of the working hours alongside us and was a pleasure to work with — happy, informative, and genuinely engaging. Jess was equally present in the evenings, bringing her joyful nature and wonderful storytelling to the dinner table. Their two boys were also great fun to be around — equally charming and full of energy. For anyone interested in sports, they are impressive basketball players and always keen to get involved in a game. Overall, this was a Workaway experience well worth doing. We felt appreciated for the work we contributed and grateful for the warmth we received in return. We would happily recommend Jess and Al to other Workawayers looking to explore the Bay of Plenty and surrounds.

Alienor stayed 2 weeks with me and is a very pleasant and helpful person. She worked hard and asked questions so that she was confident of doing things the right way. I was pleased to help her with her English and I learned a tiny bit of French as well. She is sensible and reliable, showing initiative when needed. I appreciate the times she worked alone when I was not feeling strong enough. I hope she finds the university course she wants to follow.

Hei Selma! She is a really good workawayer, was adapting to the mood of the house and with the dogs and the works! She stayed here for one month in winter period and she was good to adapt in the army bed in the workshop without problems. About the skills she cook really good and found every time some new chellenge with the works. Maybe she'll come back in summer and I'm already ready to host her! See you soon!

Matt and Lucy stayed with us for about 5 weeks. They were excellent house guests; tidy, respectful and proactive with chores and were awesome workers. They helped us with renovation tasks like sanding and painting and some more complex tasks also. The quality of their work was very high, and they worked hard despite the Queensland heat and humidity. They were fun to have around, and I can recommend them highly.

Here is a (long overdue!) excellent review for the perfect volunteer who helped us restart the project after what can only be described as a “rainy year.” Marco first contacted us in early November with a thoughtful and detailed message that perfectly matched our expectations. He was supposed to join us a little over two weeks later, after arriving in Thailand. However, as the rain was still pouring down, we had to wait for better weather before bringing in an excavator to clear and prepare the land. We therefore had to postpone his arrival, and Marco was incredibly easy-going and understanding about the change. In the end, he joined us on December 7th. Because of our usual hectic schedule, Marco spent his first week working quite independently — cleaning the land and preparing parts of the second tiny house so construction could properly resume the following week. His second week was dedicated to restarting the construction of the second tiny house, which had been suspended due to the terrible weather conditions. Marco did a great team job, and the four walls were completed during that week. He was also a tremendous moral support while we dealt with construction materials (pallets and wood panels) that had suffered badly from the rain and from termites. Marco managed to save and restore a significant part of them — a HUGE thank you for that! On top of his practical skills, Marco’s excellent communication, constant good mood, kindness, and positive attitude truly made a difference. Always appreciative (especially for the provided food), always supportive, and always ready to make things easier. We are sincerely grateful for his contribution in helping us bring the project back to life after a very, very, very challenging period. We would gladly welcome him again anytime and wish him all the very best for what comes next!

What great girls. They were a great help in the garden and in the kitchen too. They were fun and well mannered. They did their tasks very well and the house was quiet after they left. We wish them well on their Tasmanian adventure and thank them for helping us on our property.

What a wonderful Workawayer! Daniel is a lovely , polite and well mannered young man. He was always helpful in the kitchen and outside. He took on new tasks with gusto including the Whipper Snipper/ brush cutter. He did a fantastic job on our large property. Daniel mixed in well with our friends and other social gatherings...they all wanted him to be their workawayer !!! Anyway we were fortunate that Daniel chose us for this part of his Tasmanian adventure .. Thank you Daniel and we hope you come back again one day. ❤️

Absolutely loved Ashling!! She was a great Workawayer and a super fun lovely person . Ash was always ready to get into the jobs at hand without asking. Sadly she had to leave earlier than planned but we hope she comes back when she can. We missed her help and effervescence very much We would 100% recommend Ashling to any host that needs a lovely extra pair of hands around their place.

I stayed with Sica and family for 10 days (and would have stayed longer if not for Ramadan). I very much enjoyed my time in the small town of Giyanti near Temanggung. From the very start, I immediately felt welcomed as part of the family, meeting Sica's husband Roni, her son and her parents. Because of Ramadan, teaching duties were very light, though I still enjoyed the smaller classes helping Sica and the local teachers instruct children, helping with pronunciation, and playing various games. Beyond that, there was plenty of free time to go explore the area, though most of the time me and a fellow workawayer (who was also staying there at the same time), were taken along by Sica or her family and friends on various adventures, ranging from visiting a local tea plantation, meeting the actual mayor of Temanggung during the annual tree planting event, or climbing to the top of one of the many mountains surrounding the city. In Sica you will certainly find a host who not only is more hands-on than usual, but very much enjoys showing you every aspect of local life and culture - for which I am most grateful. Now, living in a small Indonesian town may present certain challenges for (Western) workawayers, namely the daily prayer call from the nearby mosque which probably will wake you up early in the morning if you don't bring earplugs; or the traditional toilets that are common in rural Java. Not everyone in the region speaks English, but everyone is so kind and willing to help you. For me, overcoming challenges is an integral part of Workaway as cultural immersion, to take these differences in lifestyle head on and embrace them. Certainly Sica and family were always willing to make things comfortable for us, like loaning me weights for exercises, or asking a neighbor to loan her guitar so that I could play music. In all, I very much enjoyed my time here, and I'd really like to thank Sica and family, Dono, Anis, Diki, Diaz, Sinta and everyone for making this a special week and a half. Certainly a workaway I'd recommend to anyone! Terima Kasih!
