Mara was a great volunteer, and we enjoyed having her around. It would have been nice to have her longer so we could have got to know her more, but she had already made plans to go further north. We had her working around the garden and she had no problems dealing with the heat in our polytunnels, which are very hot at this time of year. We didn't have time to test her cooking skills, but she's a very competent motorbike rider! Thanks, Mara. Take care on your travels and hope to see you again in the future.

It was such a special experience for me. Thanks to Greg and Wendy both for your warm hospitality and for welcoming me into your home. I truly enjoyed my time there. Helping with the harvest and experiencing life on the farm was very special for me. I also really cherished the moments we shared—cooking, sharing meals, and talking about life. I felt very lucky to spend these weeks surrounded by such kind people. I will always remember this time and the kindness you shared with me. I wish you both good health and all the best, and I hope one day I can come back and visit again.

Obrigada Dirk! Merci Melie! Bis bald! 💚

My 2,5 weeks with Kübra, Burak and Bade were peaceful, exiting and sometimes restless : ). This vibrant, young family welcomed me with open arms and I'm really grateful for their huge generousity. Amazing (mostly vegetarian) cook and super stylish Kübra and always patient and smiling Burak were always there if I needed anything or had any question. They made sure that I was comfortable and give me a lot of space to have my privacy and me-time, which I really appreciated. Most amazing hosts! The 'work' was even better, as talking in English with Bade was a lot of fun! Bade has a lot of energy and an endless amount of ideas. Sometimes she is home in the morning because they are not morning people haha. But the parents are always around, so I never felt like a nanny, only a play mate. Bade knows what she wants and has a lot of love to give. She understands a lot of English, and speaking gets better with every day. Whenever she doesn't know a word, she'll toddle over to her parents to whisper her question. Never dull times with this happy kid! Kübra, Burak and also Bade told me a lot about Turkish history, culture and food. There were some funny language gaps, but Google Translate always helps and I expanded my Turkish vocabulaire (which started as zero). They recommended me a lot of great food and some cool places to visit in Bursa. I preferred Bursa over Istanbul, much more air and less crowds. Lots of sweets and old buildings. It'll take you an hour to get there, and the bus and metro ride is pretty relaxing with all the nice views on the surrounding mountians. Two tips for future volunteers: visit Mudanya (beautiful coastal village) and join an international speaking club session at coffeeshop KOF (find them on instagram) in Nilüfer. Thanks a lot for my great time in Bursa. All the best with growing up Bade!

We stayed more than 3 weeks at Patrick and Heidi's farm and our experience was truly amazing. We arrived in the middle of the lambing season, it was fantastic to be part of it and to help Patrick. Thank you so much for teaching us so many things and for your patience, it was very enriching. We really appreciated this daily routine with you, Holly and the sheep. Patrick always make sure that the tasks are various, we were never bored and we did a lot of different things (feeding and taking care of the sheep and lambs, work in polytunnel and gardening, collect the eggs and interesting woodworking) Thank you Heidi for your kindness and your delicious meals (she's really an excellent cooker !) Thanks both of you for welcoming us, you are very great people. We will miss the lambs. Orane and Charles

The place, the family and a really nice Palermo city place🍝 I had a lovely time with this family! Valeria and her husband Daniele are very kind and welcoming, and their kids, Simo and Marti, are sweet and full of energy My main tasks were helping in the mornings by preparing breakfast for the kids and sometimes cooking something simple for them to take to school. I also walked their dog, Russel, for about an hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon, which I really enjoyed, he is such a good pet❤️ Occasionally I also helped with some tasks at the hotels/palazzos they manage. With the kids, the idea is to speak in English, which is really nice for cultural exchange. Sometimes I also spent a bit of time with Simone playing or doing small activities in English as well! Overall it was a very positive experience and I’m very grateful for the time I spent with this lovely family. I would definitely recommend staying with them if you are looking for a friendly, relaxed, and sweet family environment in Palermo🫠

I had a really lovely time in Ansberg helping with Ferdi. He is 93 years old but very independent, kind, and a truly pleasant person to spend time with!! I really enjoyed our conversations and getting to know him The work is basically helping a bit with cooking, taking him to some meetings, feeding the chickens, and doing some light house cleaning. The routine was relaxed and the place has a very peaceful atmosphere 🫠 I definitely recommend this place to other Workawayers looking for a calm, friendly, and meaningful experience Thank you Maria, Jurgen and Ferdi for my time there, it was such a good experience!💕💕

Sophie is one of those rare individuals, who is bound for greatness. She posseses a strong work ethic, is clinical in her planning and was the closest thing to a project manager that we have ever had. She gets stuck in and worked as hard as the best workaways we have ever had. She stayed a month and we achieved so much because of her input. She instinctively knew when to give us space and when to join us. I cannot recommend her highly enough. It was a complete delight to have her here. She quickly picked up skills and can work independently on virtually any task. She became so integral to our sailing and work schedule that she left a vacuum after her departure. She fitted in seamlessly with our family. On departure as in everything she did she left her accomodation spotless. Well educated , polite, I run out of words to aptly describe how great she was. We would welcome her return at any time and are happy to be a reference as to her impecable character.

My workaway experience with Sam and Sally was quite unique. Both are kind and treated me so well. I was doing some maintenances in their home which I love doing to make rooms look pretty and uplift their energy. It was nice to have lunch together and get to know each other, always with nice and delicious vegeterian food . The afternoon was my free time where I could use it for my own. On my free days I enjoyed walking to the river which is a tranquil place under the trees or else I walked for 1hr to town Castillo de Locubin where there were few shops, restaurants and interesting places to visit. Castillo de Locubin is a quite town not much going on but this place is good for workaways who are looking for peace , quite moments and easy tranquil life. Surrounded by nature , the mountains, trees, birds ..... I had more insights through my travels and inspiration for my creativity as an artist in producing a sketch almost every day. Thanks again Sam and Sally for your kind hospitality.

Truly a beautiful place! The dogs are super cute, even if it feels a bit strange at first to be barked at. After a few days I got used to it and really started enjoying the work. Since there were many helpers, the morning cleaning didn’t take long, but there was almost always something to do. From midday onwards I felt quite free to organize my day. Occasionally there were still some tasks, but overall we had a lot of free time. The community with the other volunteers was great—we could cook together or go out and do something in the afternoons. Thank you very much for the unique experience! 🐕✨

Hester stayed with us for a while in December and January. And what can I say? It was a wonderful time that ended far too soon. Unfortunately, there was so much rain and storms during that time, so much miserable weather, that it was often impossible to work outside. We really wished for a few days of real “La Palma weather” so that Hester could also enjoy the beautiful warm side of La Palma. Hester is a very warm-hearted person who is easy to get along with. We had lovely conversations and she was always ready to help. She did a great job with all the work that needed doing in the garden and around the house. It was also a great pleasure and honour for us to have her as our guest. Dear Hester, we wish you all the best for today and for your future. Warm regards and hugs – Claudia and Volker

My experience at Finca with Mathieu was excellent. His project is truly inspiring. Over the years he has been recovering a large area that used to be used for cattle grazing, and little by little he is bringing the natural vegetation back. He is also growing vegetables using permaculture principles and constantly developing interesting projects to keep the finca healthy and thriving. It really feels like a small paradise in the making. The location is great, very close to the beautiful town of Filandia, which makes it easy to explore the area while still enjoying the peace of nature. The accommodation is very comfortable. Volunteers stay in a beautiful, large house and I had a private room with my own bathroom, which made the stay even more pleasant. Mathieu is a very generous and kind host. He knows a lot about the environment and sustainability, and he always has interesting stories and experiences to share. It’s easy to learn a lot just by spending time and talking with him. And of course Fiona and Tintin, his lovely dogs, are also part of the team. They are very cute and great companions around the finca. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys nature, meaningful projects, and a peaceful environment.

Gardening, Cooking, Cleaning, quickly and spontaneously became the kitchen coordinator showing everyone how to cook delicious vegan meals. He accepted any work that it was needed, with or without rain, and was always present in our morning and evening practices. We immediately missed the friendly, lively and watchful Stefano when he needed to go to his next volunteering... Recommended in any project and we hope he will join us with better weather to plant trees in the food forest !

I stayed with Andre & his dog Arya for one month over Christmas and New Years. I feel like I could write a whole book about the time on the boat but to keep it short: This is a once in a lifetime experience and I would 100% recommend it to everyone who is searching for a beautiful adventure. The work evolves around preparing food, washing dishes, welcoming charter guests, as well as some cleaning and overall organizational work on the boat. On some days you’ll work more and on some days less, overall, the workload is extremely fair for what you get in return. While staying with Andre you can truly notice that he is proud of what he is doing. He makes sure to give the crew and also the guests the best time on the boat - by showing you the most beautiful islands, cooking the best food (he is a great chef - and fortunately will share his secrets with you!), giving you insider tips and recommendations for Colombia and making the volunteers experience a truly authentic and unique stay on the sailboat and San Blas. You will meet his local friends and other sailors which felt really special and makes this experience truly authentic . Andre is always happy to share some knowledge about sailing and teach you different knots, navigation, and so on which is why this is a great opportunity for everyone who wants to dig deeper into these topics. Leaving the boat felt so weird since it felt like home so quickly. I am so thankful for all the memories I was able to create and will never forget this experience. Thank you so much, Andre, and see you soon!

I cannot say enough good things about Omur and Ayla's Workaway! I stayed with their family for almost 6 weeks during November/December to help with olive harvest/tree pruning. I had been curious about olive harvesting and olive oil production for awhile, and Omur & Ayla were excellent teachers! In addition to learning a lot about olive farming, we had many great conversations about language, history, foods & family. Ayla and Omur are flexible, open minded, kind people who are always happy to share ideas/recipes/culture. We celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years together and it was very fun to teach/learn from each other. Accommodation on the farm is also very nice! I had my own home with a bedroom, living area and bathroom with heat/electriticy/running water. Ayla and Omur always made sure I had everything I needed (and more!) Everything I had to eat was phenomenal, and I learned so much about Turkish foods/beverages/snacks....I don't think I will ever eat so well again :) Ayla and Omur also were very flexible with me taking breaks to do some independent travel and gave lots of fun ideas in addition to helping me with the bus/train system. We took several trips together around Izmir during New Years too! Their sons, Kuzey and Deniz, were always fun to interact with and I really truly feel as if I gained a second family while I stayed with them all.

Lena is a quiet, intelligent and responsible woman. Even with all the rain that we had while she was with us, we could count with her help pruning bushes and roses, in the top of the ladder, or weeding, shredding... We hope to see her again in our project. Recommended to any project.

Filip was a great workawayer. He was always punctual. He is also a great cook and helped to create some wonderful meals. Flip loved the mountains and went up regularly. Flip is a very helpful and willing person. He is adaptable and willing to put his hand to whatever task he is asked to do. Filip is a very friendly person and willing to explore new ideas and new experiences. It has been a pleasure to have him here on the farm.
