Description
Enjoy nature, help and learn at our Healthy Farm Retreat in beautiful Spain.
This opportunity is for adventurous nature-lovers. Would you like to experience the beautiful surrounds of a gorgeous healthy living retreat in rural Spain? You will help on the farm where we grow foods for our own consumption. But will not be involved in any aspects of the retreat.
We are a husband-and-wife team Sam and Rowena and we have moved together from the UK to pursue our dream of helping people restore their bodies, minds and spirits. We are renovating a rural farmhouse, and transforming the grounds into a haven for people who want to live healthier, happier lives.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workawayers will help in exchange for accommodation and yummy, healthy meals. If a healthy lifestyle is your interest we will happily share our knowledge with you.
Almeria is famous for its plethora of greenhouses that form the basis for the massive supply of fruits and vegetables to many European countries.
"One of Almería's most famous natural spots is the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. This park is of volcanic origin, and is the largest and most ecologically significant marine-terrestrial space in the European Western Mediterranean Sea.". Uleila Del Campo is 45 minutes from the city of Almeria.
We live just outside the village of Uleila Del Campo but just 15 minutes walk from the village centre. However, as it is peaceful and isolated, it would suit people who enjoy the peace and quiet away from the hectic hubbub of the city.. We are on a 40 acre site with lots of olive trees, orange orchard and almond orchard, plus many assorted fruit trees.Help
During your stay, you’re welcome to experience our healthy living ethos, including learning about nutrition; how to cook delicious healthy vegan dishes; and learning how to grow your own produce on the farm.
You can volunteer for several months and there are a variety of ways to get involved depending on your skills and interests. But no matter how you choose to volunteer, you can be sure your contribution will help.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Growing food on the farm, and farm help. In addition to general farm help, we have a number of almonds and orange orchards and various other fruit trees.
We also grow a lot of the foods that we eat, so someone who understands the care of these and can teach us would be very welcome.
The grounds and gardens are extensive and need weeding, watering, sweeping, pruning etc. We also preserve figs, oranges , almonds and some of the vegetables grown for our consumption
Rest is important.
We are Seventh-day Adventist Christians, so we observe the “Sabbath”, resting from Friday sunset until Saturday sunset. This means you will not be required to help during those hours. We welcome volunteers of all or no faithLanguages spoken

Accommodation
We live in a large Spanish cortijo. Workawayers will sleep in the same building as ourselves. You might very occasionally have to room share with one other person. The bathrooms are also shared. We offer breakfast (which you will prepare) and one healthy vegan/plant-based meal per day. Unfortunately we do not accommodate couples , families, or animals.
What else ...
As part of our cultural exchange, volunteers will be able to walk into the local village and experience rural Spanish village life, speak with the locals in Spanish and be a part of the social scene. There is a bus to the local beaches of Almeria. Other beautiful towns like Mojacar and los Negras are only 45 minutes away by car.
There are many interesting places to hike and walk. This includes a two and a half hours, beautiful mountain hike that most workawayers do several times in their stayA little more information
