Maya stayed with us for two weeks. She has a bright and friendly personality, and even when we first met, she felt like someone we had known for a long time. We shared many conversations about our cultures, social issues, and life in our respective countries. We were impressed by her genuine curiosity and her strong desire to learn new things. She loves children and often kindly offered to spend time with our daughter. Even though our daughter has endless energy, Maya stayed with her patiently until she was completely satisfied. Our daughter absolutely loved her. Thank you for spending time with us, Maya. Until we meet again!

While I was in the hostel, from the staff there was only the manager of this hostel Nina. She is a really nice person. Communication and working together with her was very easy - we got along very well. I didn't have much to do, as I was there at the beginning of season and there were only 2 groups staying while I was there. I was involved in housekeeping. I would say that Nina made this experience in a very true and original spirit of workaway platform - I really had a feeling that I am helping and having some cultural exchange, not only working (I didn't have a feeling that I was used as a free labor). I could use breakfast products and some other products, also I was free to use hostel kitchen to cook my lunch and dinner. I was staying in a separate room (so got some privacy), and used shared bathroom. I was offered a voucher for free access in several museums in Rijeka, but I can't comment this experience, because at the end I didn't use it.

I had the most amazing time staying with Becca, Stacey, and of course adorable, awesome Rowan. They are just the KINDEST family, the work was easy and varied, they were super flexible, and just genuinely wonderful people to talk to and get to know. The side cottage they put me up in was perfect and I had everything I needed. I ate my weight in plums from the trees in their garden and genuinely loved playing with Rowan, she's the coolest two year old I know. 10/10 recommend staying with Stacey and Becca if you get the chance :)

Donna and Barry M. welcomed me for my first Workaway. They were very open in the way they allowed me to settle into their cabin. I ended up staying for two months, including the holiday season, and they always made sure I had everything I needed. Barry is a man of rich experience and surprising depth, with an artist’s heart. Donna is a passionate, loving woman who is deeply committed to her work. I was deeply touched by their love and the bond they share. It was an intense and meaningful experience for me — one that I carry very deeply within me.

Erik and Quintus, our fantastic volunteers, sorry for not posting this after your first visit, but better late than never. 😁 If you’re considering them as volunteers, we highly recommend it. They handled every task with care and got up to speed quickly. They were fun to work with, curious, and never afraid to ask questions—something we really value. They were great with our animals, giving them all the love and care they needed. They were always ready to lend a hand, got along great with the team, and created a really positive atmosphere. We were so happy to have them back for a second time, and we really hope to see them again in the future! 💚

Nana stayed with us for two weeks. She loves hiking and being active, and she helped us a lot with outdoor tasks such as mowing the grass and cutting firewood. She also challenged herself by working on metal fittings used in our construction projects. In addition, she willingly took care of the chickens.🐓 She is quiet and gentle, and she has a beautiful smile when something makes her laugh. 😊We still remember her spending fun times and sharing many laughs with the other volunteers. Thank you for staying with us, Nana. We hope to see you again someday!

I had great 10 days stay at Mike's place. He is a very cool man, flexible and easy to communicate. Mike has beautiful house surrounded by trees and bushes. The plot is huge and terrain steep. Billy, the dog, is very sweet. Mike makes delicious food. I poisoned unwanted, invasive trees and stained part of the house. Work was well organized and tools were good. We were 3-5 work awayers during my stay. We normally started our 5 hours day around 8:30. Whangarei offers lots of things to experience. I visited Hundertwasser Art Centre, Quarry Art Centre, Quarry garden, Whangarei Falls and had some walks near the city (beautiful and easy walk from city to waterfall). Mike's place is 10-15 minutes from bus stop, and bus to town takes 20 minutes. Good memories.

It was amazing to stay at Ines an Mathilde place ! The garden is beautiful full of lizards and kolibries. A little paradise. Accomodation is nice and cosy. Communal kitchen is great, with a view on the ocean. The work for the volunteers is well organized. I felt like they looked after that the work is fitting with experience and with what you like to do. Very nice. They are good company! very nice to play games together in the evenings or go out together for the beach. I would definitely come back here if I came to Guadeloupe again!

We had a great time helping Chris and Julie for one week in a rural school in Petchaboon province. Obviously working with children can be challenging, but if you enjoy working with children you will love this experience! Especially for the cultural insight you get! At first we were nervous about teaching so many children, but the Thai kids were all super friendly and Chris and Julie provided extensive learning material for us. If you're creative, you can mix in your own ideas for the children, or you just stick to what Chris and Julie prepare for you. ;) Every day we taught children of different ages from 3 to 15, thus the teaching methods changed every day and it was fun to adapt to every age group :D the best thing was showing up at the school in their cute little "English Superhero" truck! We really felt like giving the children a special time :) And, like all other reviews, we have to talk about the food ;) Chris loves cooking and he's definitely the best cook we know in all of Asia! ;P Whatever he prepared (sweet banana bread, delicious tofu, amazing cabbage Pizza andandand...) it tasted delicious. We still don't know how he managed to prepare all this food in a rented bungalow. Another couple volunteered together with us, and Chris and Julie were super nice, and we had a great time in the afternoons and evenings playing card games and chatting with each other :) Thanks for this amazing experience, see you in Italy ;)

My two-week volunteer experience here was wonderful and truly memorable. If you decide to volunteer here, you will work about 4 hours a day (22 hours a week, from Monday to Saturday). You will be in charge of your own classes for about half of that time, and for the remainder, you will assist the local teachers in their lessons. After discussing with the local teachers online beforehand and consulting with them again upon my arrival, I decided to teach classes focused on Japanese language and culture. The students here are highly motivated, with English levels ranging from A1 to B1 on the CEFR scale. While some classes can speak English fluently, many students are still learning. You will see a lot of elementary school kids on Saturdays, but generally, you will be teaching high schoolers, university students, and adults. The students really try their best to understand what we volunteers are saying. They are incredibly cooperative, which made teaching here highly enjoyable and comfortable. The school teachers and staff also speak English and have a deep, welcoming openness to other cultures. I felt so comfortable at the school that I had almost no issues at all. The classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with projectors, and I generously received free coffee and snacks from the school shop every day. My host, Felipe, and his partner, Valeria, were absolutely amazing (Angelica, who is listed as the host on the page, is his older sister and the school manager). The Workaway page mentions that volunteers need to cook their own breakfast and dinner, but the three of us often went out to eat, or they would cook for me, and we shared many great conversations. Of course, they completely respect your preferences, so if you prefer to eat dinner alone, that is perfectly fine too. The host buys the ingredients for breakfast and dinner, and a weekly allowance is provided to cover transportation and lunch. On the weekends, Felipe and Valeria took the time to show me around various places. They also respected my need for personal time and my remote work for Japan. If you are hoping to volunteer at this school, I highly recommend preparing something to share your country's unique culture with the students and your hosts. I brought a sushi-making kit from Japan, hosted a sushi cooking class for the students, and threw a hand-rolled sushi (temaki-sushi) party for Felipe and his family. The students give you so much energy and kindness that once you arrive, you will definitely want to give back to them and the staff. In summary, it's rare to find such an incredible volunteer placement. It’s relatively close to Bogota and surrounded by beautiful nature. I highly recommend coming here to fully experience and enjoy the local culture!

A beautiful place surrounded by forest, just outside the village of Duncan. The property offers a pool, hot tub, and gym for use during free time. My room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The profile page is somewhat outdated, as Joy no longer lives on site. Jason is now managing the property and the Workaway profile. Instead of messaging with Joy, as I had assumed, I was messaging with Jason, which I did not always find to be reliable. When I arrived, I had expected a women-led household, so the dynamic was different from what I had imagined. The daily routine and the type of projects are currently quite focused on practical, hands-on work, which may particularly appeal to people who enjoy physical outdoor tasks. You have fixed 5 working hours and lots of free time. As a solo female traveler, I personally would have appreciated more balance in the type of work and structure. But there was always a friendly atmosphere among the 6–8 Workawayers staying there, which made it a socially rich experience. Overall, it was an interesting and valuable stay — Everything is available to you, and you can quickly feel at home.

We just spend a few days at Gandis, but it was enough to feel part of the family. Gandis, Rizal, Alisha, Barack and Mamy welcomed us like if they know us since a long time. They really are a lovely family, kind and funny, with interesting things to say. To share a bit of their lives was really refreshing and an amazing experience. Regarding the English teaching, we went with Gandis and Rizal at few student's places to share some knowledges with them. The classes were always happy moments, and the students seemed to enjoyed it. We would stay longer if we could, thank you for everything 🧡

Hosting this lovely Canadian family was one of the highlights of my Workaway life. Zenovia, Tyler and their lovely son Metro are truly beautiful people, who are an absolute joy to have around. They are friendly, interesting and inspirational - getting on with everybody here and willingly sharing their experience and knowledge and positivity. Best of all they are talented, practical and hardworking when it comes to Workaway help. Zenovia is the ultimate gardener - weeding and clearing my garden just the way I like iit done - sensitively and thoroughly. She is also very experienced in herbal medicine, and it was great to swap herbal recipes and ideas with her. Tyler was a brilliant garden/handyman - he had great input with the garden projects - full of practical, helpful ideas - he (and Metro) cleared a long neglected area of the garden and built a path - and he was a weed eating (strimming) wizard. Metro was a very talented and mature 15 year old. He helped Tyler with a lot of the heavy garden work and painted the most amazing mural of `Marty the St. Clair seagull" on my letter box. All-in-all it was a special experience having these guys here - I only wish it could have been longer . Any hosts who can catch them while they are here will be very lucky.Totally recommended! I wish them all the best for their journey around New Zealand and beyond - and hope I see them again one day.

We had an absolutely wonderful week in Dunedin. The view is simply magnificent, a true little slice of paradise. The garden is stunning, lovingly tended, and the house is very welcoming. The work was varied and always done in a cheerful atmosphere. We were a veritable army of Workaways, and yet everything was perfectly organized! Sandra managed the whole team with kindness. She handles everything with a smile and impressive organization. We laughed a lot and shared some truly wonderful moments together. The atmosphere was jovial from morning till night, which made the experience even more enriching. We wholeheartedly recommend this place. We had a fantastic time. Sandra is a wonderful person—thank you for everything!

I did a Workaway with Jose and Phil in Jan-Feb 2026 and had a really nice time staying with them. The work was manageable and varied. I mostly did weeding, but also helped out with the horses, did some cleaning and packed some boxes. I also got to ride a bit during my stay, which I really enjoyed. I joined Jose for a cross country clinic in Sydney for a day, which was a fun experience and something I appreciated being included in. I had a small issue with my wrist during my stay, and Jose and Phil were very understanding about it. They adjusted my tasks so I would not overload my arm, which I’m very thankful for. They are genuinely kind people who always greeted me with smiles in the mornings and made me feel at home. Evenings were spent around the dinner table having interesting conversations and enjoying the delicious meals Phil cooked. I am grateful for the time I spent with them and the animals on their farm. Odie is a very sweet dog, the horses are lovely, and the chickens kept me great company while weeding in the garden.

Hiroshi is the best! This was my first Workaway experience and I’m so glad it was with Hiroshi. He tried his best to make me feel at home. He’s very generous with his food and time. He took me to the best places and introduced me to some of his friends. As I’m trying to learn Japanese, he explained some phrases to me. Moreover, he has some really good books and games at his flat in order to study not only the language but also the culture. Staying with him is definitely a great idea. Hiroshi is delightful and his flat is in a great area the station is right around the corner.
