Description
Hello everybody,my name is Constantino and I run a small cozy hostel in Thessaloniki city in north Greece. It is located in the upper town-the old part of the city,so it is based in traditional architecture.We have a nice garden where BBQs take place often and a balcony with a great view to the sea. It feels like you live in a small village but it is so close to the city centre and the main attractions.

You will learn a lot about Thessaloniki culture,cooking recipes,appetizers and traditional drinks.
From archeological point of view you can learn a lot about Macedonia -the Greek kingdom-you can visit it as well (ancient Pella),Vergina (the tomb of Philipps the 2nd).
A lot of roman constructions which are in UNESCO heritage monuments are still very well kept in the city centre of Thessaloniki.
And most important,you can discover the richest byzantine history,through churches,city walls,towers and castle.(this city was the 2nd most important city during the byzantine empire).
Amongst the day trips you can do the 2 most important are:
1)Mount Olympus(the house of the 12 gods of greek mythology and the temple of Zeus-Dion)
2)The ancient rockforest of Meteora and the byzantine monasteries.
Hostel life is always interesting,social and international.You will meet people from all over the world and share experiences.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

I helped out in September and had a great time. Costa is a great and supernice host and the other volunteers where amazing too. You get to meet tons of travellers and other interesting people and it's a great place to widen your horizons. I also had a lot of time to see the city. Thessaloniki is an awesome place, very young and vibrant.
