Description
We are fully booked up until late January 2026 but don’t hesitate to get in touch now if you’re looking at dates for after that 🤗🤩
Experience a slice of Kiwi rural life with us in the South where we live on a sheep and beef farm. Hi, we’re Hamish and Larissa and we love to share our special part of NZ, living on top of the district at around 400m with spectacular rural scenery, panoramic views and stunning sunrises and sunsets. Ours is a place to unwind and experience ‘heartland’ NZ at its best. We love to meet and connect with travellers, share stories and spin a few yarns. Passionate about the food we grow here, we also love to share this, recognising our lamb and beef is some of the best in the world. During term time our teenage sons are away at boarding school freeing up our homestead to host visitors. Also meet our matriarch and living legend Ann, 87 going on 47 who loves a hand in the homestead’s garden and woodland setting.

Help
There’s always plenty to do in terms of cleaning, gardening and general maintenance. We’re looking for Workawayers who have good attention to detail and enjoy house painting. While you are welcome to observe farm activities that take place, Workaway assistance requested is for our private homes and gardens. Self drive with own vehicle is best for this Workaway as there is limited public transport in our area.

What else ...
We are centrally located in the Otago/Southland area, 20 minutes from the historic mining town of Lawrence, an hour drive from Dunedin, 2.5 hours to Queenstown/Wanaka and an hour from the iconic Catlins southern coast. The Clutha Gold Cycle trail is approximately 6km away from our gate. This Workaway fits well for those travelling different directions in the South, our Workawayers come to us from all around including Wanaka, Queenstown (Central Otago), Dunedin and Southland (e.g. Te Anau, Riverton, Gore, Clinton, Invercargill, Catlins).
