It was a pleasure to have Justin stay at my property. He was here 1 week, and helped with a range of tasks including weeding and harvesting bananas, firewood collecting, garden clearing, and herding sheep. Our annual A&P show was held while he was staying, and Justin helped set up for the show, assisted on show day (including the Gumboot throw competition), and helped pack up afterwards. His English is much better than he thinks, and improves every day. I would strongly recommend Justin, and he is welcome to return.

was truly an oasis! we could feel passion and balance all around the hostel, our experience was special about this place, we had meaningful tasks, comfortable room, delicious breakfast, LOVELY hosts and the COOLEST receptionists ever!! Coşku is the heart of that place, super patient with volunteers, never overwhelms with tasks, and you will face no problem if you feel Lotus as your home and treat it likewise. The time we spent with Ahmet was NOT Enough, there is soooo many things to learn from this man, he doesn't hide knowledge and teaches it with passion, I've had few "first time" experiences working with him. Bora, Mehmet, Esen you guys were the best part of Lotus experience for us, changing shifts like moon and sun :D thank you for hosting us❤️

This was my first workaway and it was a great experience. Maria made every effort to make me comfortable, spend time and share her culture with me. She made the details of our exchanger very clear from the beginning and that helped avoid any confusion. She has a great personality and an open heart. Her family was lovely and welcoming as well. I highly recommend her.

Staying with Sarndra was probably one of the best times we've had on our trip so far! The place was amazing, the people were awesome and Sarndra was a lovely host. She was so fun to talk to, the projects she had us do in the garden were fun and varied, and her cooking was great!!!! We were very sad to leave, and will stop by if we drive through Dunedin again❤️ Thanks for every Sarndra☺️

What a beautiful experience it was... And all of it thanks to the incredible community of people I was invited to. I am truly grateful for them taking me in and sharing their knowledge, their life and essentially making me feel like part of the family. A wonderful family, with whom I shared the best conversations, the best meals, the best times watering the plants in their incredible gardens, their home. My stay was one of a kind, I learned SO MUCH about permaculture, bees, natural cosmetics, sustainability, manzanillas and calendulas... I can't say enough to express how grateful I am to have had this adventure with Christine, Antonia and the rest of the community. Thank you, muchas gracias for all you have shared with me, for your trust and the kindness you shared (and the fresh eggs from the chickens) . Fue BAKAN! Gracias <3

Alaric was very capable and respectful. I was not able to spend much time with him due to my work schedule but after he left I discovered he had completed what I suggested would earn his keep for a month in a week. We wish him the best.

I have spent 4 weeks at Armgard's farm and I enjoyed my time there. It is admirable what she has built and how she is managing it all! Armgard is very welcoming and always comes up with not only ideas for new work projects but also activities for a free time. And she is litterally like a walking book full of stories to tell. Besides that, she is a great cook so you won't stay hungry. The work I have done here was mostly around the animals (feeding, mucking out, grooming), but also repairing fences or paddocks. I have had a wonderful time at the farm and the only thing that could have been better was the weather :D I would definitely recommend the stay at Armgard's place to everyone who likes to work outside and enjoys to be around animals. Thank you and take care! Silvia

My stay there was amazing. Thanks to Maya and Metin for welcoming and opened their house to me. I helped them cleaning the rooms , stairs, terrace. In my free time Maya helped me giving suggestions of places to visit and all the time she was worried about me to feel comfortable. She is friendly , talkative and excellent guide (thanks to her I never felt lost in Istanbul) . Additionally, I helped her to practice spanish. Thank you!

This was a turning point in our journey. Halfway through our 8month trip, we volunteered at Leyla and Allan’s reserve. What a reserve, a whole mountain dedicated to preservation. They have a hotel on site where you’ll stay. I was traveling with my partner and we always had a private room. You work 5hours a day. You need to be autonomous and interested. This place is an amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in the true colombia. Colombian cuisine, nature and workers will brighten each day that you spend here. You are not expected to work more than 5hours. In your free time you can go swim in the river, enjoy the amazing library or go hike up the mountain to meet the Kogis (indigenous group). We worked on the weekends to finish up projects but really that’s just because distillation and product creation intrested us so much. We stayed a lot with Delouis, the chemist of the hotel. For us, this is how a typical day would unfold : Wake up at 7am Get breakfast (cooked by one of the chefs), this is a time to share and talk with the other workers. Start working at 8 am, usually by giving water to the plants in the garden. Work until 12, doing different type of jobs in the garden or in the laboratory. We saw how the natural products are created there. From cutting the plants to sticking the etiquette on the bottle. You do it all, and it is so interesting! You eat at 12, again Colombian cuisine cooked by a chef. You work for one more hour. And then you have your day free. Even if you work, you learn and it doesn’t seem like Work. We couldn’t recommend this place more ! At the end of the day everyone just feels like family. And it will be hard to leave this place. It will keep a piece of our hearts.

Great Workaway in such a unique place, I would 100% recommend this experience. I planned to stay for 1–2 weeks and ended up staying for over a month. From Arturo’s warm and welcoming energy to the genuine sense of community you become immersed in, my time here was really special. You quickly feel like part of the family rather than just a volunteer. It’s well worth the journey to the end of the world. For hikers and wildlife lovers, this place is perfect. There are plenty of hikes you can do as day hikes, or longer treks on your days off. The hostel also has bikes you can use to explore the island! There’s a cute, friendly cat (Lum) at the hostel, and you can watch whales from the front porch. It's a slice of paradise

This was my very first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better start! I don’t regret it at all; in fact, I'm so glad I chose Susan’s farm. Even though I could only stay for one week, it was completely worth it. Susan is a wonderful host and an amazing cook! I really enjoyed our dinners together—everything she prepared was delicious. The experience also helped me a lot to practice and improve my English, and I learned so much about Ireland and its traditions through our conversations. It has been an unforgettable experience. I had such a great time during our talks at dinner and playing the card game afterwards (Skyjo). I enjoyed it so much that I’m definitely buying a deck to play with my friends back home! I am going to miss her animals so much. They were all so adorable and I received so much affection from them; I treated them as if they were my own. Between the animals and the great atmosphere Susan creates, I’m heading home with amazing memories. I highly recommend Susan to everyone and I really hope to come back in the future. Thank you for everything!

Workaway Review: Bia (Ana Beatriz) Sangaletti Bia is a champion of all things good, decent and thoughtful. Arriving from Brazil to complete her Master's in Human Rights Law, she stayed several months, and was great every day. Besides all the usual Workaway projects, Bia attended her courses an hour away - taking mass transit - helped around the house and took care of me with affection and much grace when a sudden back injury left me unable to stand, walk upright or use my stairs. I can't imagine anyone finding themselves in this situation able to juggle so much, so willingly, and so well. Bia tackled things she'd never done before with energy, care and attention. She never gave up, or lost her cool (or kindness) even when I became immobile and utterly dependent. Her determination was constant, time-managed and evenly distributed whether here at home, out in the yard, or at school, where she carried a full load and volunteered for additional law clinics connected to her studies benefitting others in grave difficulty. Nothing was neglected, overlooked or forgotten. Our mutual interests in culture, human rights, social literacy, justice and sustainability extended our Workaway-housemate relationship to true companionship, shared ethical frequencies and what I hope will remain a lasting friendship. This year as planned Bia returned for one week to complete her examination and thesis defense, and to make up some hours we couldn't do during her previous stay. That's who she is, that's how she is and it's elegant and remarkable.

I spent a month with Chalotte, Steen (her husband), and Thais (her son), in November-December, and it was simply perfect! The work was very interesting. Not only did I work, but I also learned a lot about how to care for animals and manage a farm (especially with the adorable sheep). For someone who loves these animals, it was great to be there in winter, as we spent more time with them, especially feeding them. We also painted the house a beautiful yellow colour and the result was very satisfying! My free time activities were also great! I spent most of my weekends in Copenhagen, as it is very easy to get there by train from Sorø. There is always something interesting to do in this city, even in winter when the weather is rather bad. For example, you can visit museums: the Glyptotek Museum is particularly incredible if you like art and painting. I have always felt like part of the family, whether going out or simply being invited to join them for film and television evenings. The atmosphere at Charlotte's place is so pleasant. You will laugh a lot! They are genuinely curious and interested in you and your life. The exchange are always pleasant and interesting! Last point but not least : the meals were delicious and my vegetarian diet was always respected, which was so kind! It was an extraordinary stay and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy this experience. Mange tak for alt Chalotte!

I had the most amazing time staying with Jim and Sue! They showed me so much kindness and were very welcoming. They were happy to show me all around Coromandel and gave me plenty of recommendations of things to explore on my own. They always extended invitations to me to go bowling or to dinner parties, and I am so grateful for those opportunities to meet other people in Coromandel. I was also lucky enough to go sailing with them which was one of my favorite memories from this stay. The accommodation was amazing, very comfortable and very private. The work was light and enjoyable, and I was usually working in the garden alongside Sue. Sue always made delicious lunches with fresh ingredients and the time that I stayed there was the best I ate on my whole trip. I loved getting to know them better over these lunches and had so much fun with them! Thank you Jim and Sue for such an amazing experience!

Damian and Maria (and gorgeous Annika!) are the kindest hosts we could’ve asked for! They are super relaxed with your plans and very helpful too. We stayed in a room in the garden and we found it became our little home for the time we were there it was cozy and sweet. We also enjoyed the work… we did lots of path making, painting and gardening, it was fun and we learnt lots of new things. We especially loved picking raspberries and occasionally stealing one to eat! Overall we loved our time in gorgeous Bariloche and staying with Damian and Maria. We highly recommend this Workaway! 😊
