I had a truly wonderful experience here. I felt very comfortable in the house from the very beginning; it has a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home right away. The animals were also such a joy to be around. Naomi the dog and Poa the cat are both lovely and added so much warmth to my stay. Dewi is a beautiful, kind-hearted, and calm person, and you can really feel that energy reflected in her home and the overall environment. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine and relaxing Workaway experience.

I had a great experience staying with Adam. The main project involved helping with house renovation, and the work was well-organized and fair. They were very kind, flexible, and understanding, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable rather than stressful. I especially appreciated their openness and willingness to adapt plans when needed. Communication was easy, and I always felt respected and comfortable during my stay. Another highlight was the food and drinks—they shared delicious local dishes and some really good beers, which made the cultural exchange even more memorable. Overall, I highly recommend this host to anyone looking for a positive Workaway experience with a good balance of work, learning, and enjoying local life.

I had a great stay with Margaret, Derek and Marshall (the sweetest dog!). Margaret is a fantastic host who provided a comfortable place to stay and clear instructions on tanks that needed to be done. I found the routine very relaxed and learned a lot about the local area. A great way to start my adventure in New Zealand. Thank you Margaret!

Jeff and Darcie have been the highlight of my Workaway Experience. They were extremely welcoming, making me a part of the family from Day 1. They invited me to join all their events, including dinner parties, trips to the market, concerts, and community events. They showed me all the cool things Vic En Bigorre had to offer, including my favorite: the artisan pizza vending machines! The work was educational and Jeff made sure to have fun with it, playing music, joking and sharing stories as we restored centuries old features. While I was there, we mostly focused on reinforcing the ceiling, and it makes me proud to know that ceiling will be sturdy for a while yet to come! I also did some smaller tasks like staining windows, treating countertops, running wires through the walls, etc. While you're here, you'll be exposed to all sorts of fun projects! Jeff and Darcie really care about the people they invite into their beautiful home, they care about your well being and aspirations. My favorite part of the day was dinner, Jeff and Darcie are amazing cooks. Almost every night we had something new and delicious. I thought I was a good cook but they taught me so much and I can't wait to recreate Jeff's 'fried' chicken. I hope that Jeff and Darcie remain lifelong friends and I can't wait to come back to see the house once it's back to its former glory.

Flora and Florian are amazing volunteers. They spent a lot of time playing with and helping the children and always brought positive energy to our home. They also came to help me at my homestay once time at weekend and wonderful with the guests. They are friendly, helpful, and easy to live with. On their days off, they actively met local families to learn more about Vietnamese culture, which we really appreciated. We highly recommend them to future hosts.

I had a lot of very great moment at the english school of Phnom Penh. I stayed there 1 month. You can practice a lot about teaching 'cause all the lesson are prepared before by the main teacher. You also learn a lot from the kids there that are all very nice, talkative and easy going. Sometime they already have a real good fluent english what helps a lot for the conversation club. Special reference to the neighborhood professional badminton player kids ;). The size of each class allow you to be real close to any student and there's a lot of decent materials even though I think a good old whiteboard would be saving more money. Some online class also allow to practice others kind of teaching skills. Keep in mind its a very famillial situation but still very rewarding. All that without talking about our dear American and Khmer boss : Noah and Kheng. Two very friendly souls always ready to share a moment with you or a good conversation. They also are always honest and talkative and their advice are precious and positivs. They also give you a warm welcoming, and the conditions of life are comfy and convenient. The neighborhood of the capital city Phnom Penh where they did settled the school is great and its a good in between still close to the center. I definitely recommend it even if it aint the traditionalest place, I'm sure some people will prefer it like that, we're in the capital after all. The teaching hours are not long everyday and the schedule is well managed. It also a very inspiring teaching style of lesson through game and conversation. Long live the school.

I had beautiful two weeks with Aurore and Zeb. They made me feel comfortable right away an I knew I was in a good place, on the very first evening when I saw them sitting by the stove together with Modjo the cat and Biboune the rabbit. They are both very intelligent and inspiring people who approach new projects with courage. They placed a lot of trust in me when it came to the tasks, which allowed me to try new things and learn a lot. Zeb especially took the time to show me practical skills, and I definitely left knowing more than before. I mainly worked in the garden, where I helped level a slope. On rainy days, I assisted with renovation work inside the house and occasionally took care of the animals. Although I was a bit afraid of larger animals, Piloul is such a wonderful being that in the end I even went on walks with him on my own. The balance between work and free time was very good. I usually worked around four hours a day. I also had plenty of opportunities to go out: I joined Aurore for sports and dancing, and explored the area with Zeb as well as on my own. I also had the chance to practice a lot of French, both speaking and listening wich was my goal. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience. I will keep it as a very special memory. Bisous and see you!

It was an absolute pleasure hosting them at our school. From the very beginning, they were kind, respectful, and full of positive energy. They connected so naturally with the children, bringing joy, care, and enthusiasm into every activity. The students really loved spending time with them, and we could see the happiness they created every day. They helped also a lot in construction project. They were always willing to help, easy to communicate with, and adapted very well to the local environment and school life. Even in a short time, they made a meaningful impact on both the children and our community. We are truly grateful for their support and would warmly welcome them back anytime. Highly recommended to any host 😊

We spent just under a week with Caz, Olli and the horses and had a wonderful time together. Caz is a very generous, open and helpful person from whom you can learn a great deal. We were really impressed by how active she is, how well she looks after her animals and manages the large farm. Olli is a very well-behaved dog who slept under our bed on several occasions – we had the best time together. We were able to choose our own room and felt right at home. Our tasks were varied, educational and easy to manage. We cannot say a single bad word about our time with Caz and highly recommend her. Should our travel plans change again, we will definitely be back. Many thanks, Caz, and please give Olli and the horses a carrot from us.

We stayed for three weeks at the arboretum and made some brilliant memories. It is a truly special place that allowed us to feel as though we were contributing meaningfully during our travels. We enjoyed spending time with other volunteers, cooking with fresh produce from the garden, and exploring the many tracks through the forest. Mark and Maz were such generous hosts who were committed to ensuring we made the most of our time in the forest and in the area. They had some brilliant recommendations for our days off. Mark’s attitude towards the project (and life in general!) was particularly inspirational. The work is primarily weeding on a steep hill, though there were sometimes alternative jobs to do if rain was torrential. We would recommend bringing waterproof clothing! We were free to organise our own working hours and it always felt manageable. Mark and Maz generously provided food and did a regular grocery shop so there was always enough to eat. Each volunteer/pair/group had their own unique sleeping space and all other areas were shared. There could be quite a few volunteers at once and we valued getting to make connections with others. Thanks again!

Hanakin and Gregory spent over four months with us in El Hierro. It was the most productive period I can remember. I am very grateful to them both for their tireless, creative, responsible and endearing nature. It was the kind of living arrangement one could only wish for. From several building projects left behind large, disorganised piles of materials, which they sorted through and categorised. A new, well-designed storage facility was created. An important ceiling cladding project, including insulation, was finally completed after years. Without being asked, they eagerly took on tasks relating to fruit drying, the garden and the shop. Welding, bricklaying, electricity and plumbing where done by both of them. They even managed the planting of trees – something that had always been difficult to find time for. . I was able to entrust Gregory with a great deal of the woodwork. He completed everything professionally and efficiently. Hanakin, in particular, took great care of the animals’ welfare. Not to mention the pizza evenings by the wood-fired oven, which Gregory initiated. He proved to be a gifted pizza maker. Unfortunately, much remains unmentioned in this text. I very much hope that their future plans come to fruition and that they soon find their place in life. Their drive and creativity should soon see it blossom. The doors are open to them on El Hierro.

Having Tjasa staying with us was truly wonderful! She flowed so naturally with us and took on little jobs like making a fire in the morning and preparing breakfast while I took my daughter to kindergarten without me even asking her about it. We shared great conversation and I found it very easy and enjoyable to be around her. She was open to learn and try new things like using the chainsaw and I wish she could have stayed longer. Our house will always be open to you Tjasa and I wish you all the best with your sauna research :) and that you enjoy whatever next adventure you go on . Hugs from Muni & Simone

Eglantine stayed with me for a just under a week. Together with another Workawayer she helped me loading firewood onto the trailer and then stacked it in the shed. They also picked up pine cones and bagged them and helped me with tidying up flaxes etc in a driveway and pruning on the roadside and cutting back some docks. A very productive morning was spent sorting my late husband's fishing tackle and they did a great job of collating this into bags so it is easy for me to pass it on to other people now. Thank you for your help Eglantine.

From the moment he arrived, he brought a calm, grounded energy that positively influenced everyone around him. He has a naturally easygoing and warm presence that makes people feel comfortable right away, which really helped create a great atmosphere here. He was always willing to help whenever asked, approaching every task with a positive attitude and genuine care. Whether it was daily responsibilities or jumping in where needed, he showed reliability and consistency throughout his stay. What truly stood out was how well he integrated with the group. Gabriel is very outgoing and social in a natural, effortless way—he connected with everyone, contributed to conversations, and became a valued part of the community in no time. Beyond being a great volunteer, he’s simply an adventurous and thoughtful person with a great spirit. His openness to new experiences and people really shines through. I would highly recommend Gabriel to any host without hesitation. He brings both great energy and dependable support—an ideal combination.

Wow what a special place! My friend and I stayed at the school for just over a week and fell in love with Chitti. We were shown warmth and kindness from all volunteers, teachers, Shamser, the students, and locals. The work required was straightforward and rewarding. The experience will stay with us for life. We’re heartbroken to leave these wonderful kids! Thank you Shamser and everyone❤️
