When I read the Origine Nomade profile, I knew it was a place I wanted to see and to meet the people behind it. Georgio has put his heart into it and you can see everything developing day by day. I helped with planting a hedge and trees, painted, enjoyed cooking and produced a little bit of Instagram footage. I liked that the land consists of a part that had been used as a garden in the past so that you can still find some vegetables growing there. Combined with loads of wild herbs, there's plenty stuff to cook with and to give you a taste of what the land will offer, when taken care of again in the future. So I think especially if you're interested in starting a garden, this is the place for you and you'll make somebody very happy. Generally I felt that working with Georgio was always fun and met with a lot of appreciation and I'd like to highlight his openness for feedback and for ideas for the project. And most important: Giorgio is a super kind person and all the people I met here were lovely. I wish you all the best and I hope to come back and see the blooming Vanlife-community :)

Staying with Brenda and Roger at Manuka Hideaway was the perfect ending to my New Zealand journey. I truly enjoyed my days on their beautiful property. Especially the moments spent drinking coffee, playing games, and having great conversations with Roger, who has so many fascinating and funny stories to share from his life. Brenda and Roger were incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay – thank you so much again for the taxi service to the airport, dear Roger! I can highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys working in the garden, appreciates a really good cup of coffee, and is looking for a peaceful little break away from everyday life.

She has been helping with shopping, good and healthy meals, specially breakfasts and a tasty vegetable stew!! We have shared very nice and interesting conversations as well. Betty has been an great help for our project and since she stayed for several weeks she has truly become part of this project. We would recommend her to everyone: she is a calm, kind, hands-on and truthfull person and the exchange with her was easy. She has been interested in everything on sight and she was not afraid to work hard and learn new things. Betty has been open to all kinds of tasks and was great help, as she didn’t mind getting her hands dirty or working in cold weather conditions. We would host her again any time and hope to stay in touch.

I forgot to leave feedback after I left in August, sorry:) This was my first workaway experience, I stayed for two weeks and had a wonderful time at Jamie's place, the kids were lovely and the whole family was very welcoming. I really enjoyed working in the garden, slowing down and reconnecting with nature (which is breathtaking by the way). As Jamie says, it's a very rustic environment, but that's just makes it more special. Though it took me one or two days to get used to it, I only regret not staying longer:) Thank you very much!

Stayed at the theatre quite a lot longer, than initially planned. For nearly three months. The crew, and the guests at the theatre have been very friendly and easy-going. Karin is always smiling and ready for the next thing, while always eager to be one big ear for any input. Mats is captivating storyteller, with equally creative flair for cocktails. Mounir the chef has a delicate ability to make something wonderful out of simple ingredients, seasoned with a good humour and some words of wisdom (: I'm especially thankful to Mortimer and Kicki, (and the Pug), for their company and friendship during my stay. Tasks-wise I was trusted with a lot of independence and largely self-managing pace, mostly taking care of bigger and smaller practical duties at the property, some of which I was let to take on by my own proposal and initiative. The theatre is basically in the lovely fishing village by the coast, with hourly bus connections to the bigger cities from the bus stop right down the road. I had a private room in a separate house for the volunteers right at the premises, with a spacious kitchen and a warm cozy fireplace (: Thanks again for having me and waiting forward to drop by again (: Tjena Tjena! Hi, I'm Maja! Me and my friend Malin had a wonderful experience with Jack🤗! We could only stay for about a week because of a booked flight but we wished we could've stayed longer. He is a very opened minded and friendly person who loves to be active which was very nice! (Thank you for the paddle games ;)) The weather in March was wonderful, the sun was shining all day🌞🌞🌞 and the beach was not too crowded. Eventhogh the water was cold Jack invited us to try it and it was really fun swimming. The apartment is very tidy and cozy you have the best view and a nice room all to yourself. We couldn't help a lot but we tried our best doing the dishes and preparing a meal. Thank you for having us, Jack and keep on enjoying life✌️ Maja&Malin🌞

Meredith stayed for 2&1/2 weeks . She was a bright, breath of fresh air, with a can-do attitude. She was both fun and practical and was a delight to have staying with us. She is skilled across a number of areas, but her best attribute is her personality. She’s flexible, attentive, has a good work ethic and was sensitive to our environment. I highly recommend her for future work. And maybe I’ll visit her in Alaska, well maybe somewhere. Also would love to welcome her back one day.

I’m very happy that you enjoyed your stay as I had the feeling that you gave and helped so much and we couldn’t offer you something in return! It’s not only the potatoes and apples we are definitely not running out this winter, the walnuts you have been cracking, the wood and other tasks you helped with, but also your personality, some people describe as Aura, you filled our place with and affected the people around you with happiness! It was a pleasure to meet you and your culture what was completely new for us. Whenever you’re in Europe don’t forget to visit us!

I had the most lovely stay and time with Gabi. she made me feel at home and comfortable. We had a language barrier but managed in fun way with lots of acting things out, guessing games and google translate. The area is peaceful but it is possible to visit places like Salzburg and on the lucky chance go with Gabi to places like the German Alps. My stay here will always be memorable with how jolly, kind and entertaining Gabi is.

Thomas and Rebecca are truly "Super Volunteers." Over the past year, we haven't opened up many volunteer positions. When we do, we require a video interview first because we aren't just looking for extra hands. we are looking for people who are ready to live the life of a local farmer. Agricultural work isn't a "walk through a lavender field" as many young city people might imagine, it is demanding physical labor. During their stay, I didn't have much time to lead or train them myself due to my busy schedule. Thomas and Rebecca worked primarily with my colleagues. They are incredibly selfless individuals who prioritize their contribution and teamwork over their own rest or privacy. I want to tell any future hosts that, out of the many volunteers I have hosted over the years, these two are among the very best ("Top Volunteers"). You will be getting people who are genuinely sincere and who truly believe in giving more than they receive.

We spent 10 days at Shirin's place. It was quiet and confortable, and the food was amazing. We tried a lot of different local dishes, at home or in restaurants. We loved our discussions with Shirin, she has a lot of interesting experiences and knowledge to share. In the morning, we would work in the garden, and in the afternoon in an ancien prison turned into a cultural center. The garden is a truly amazing place ! We helped with weeding, harvesting fruits and vegetables, trimming and cutting down trees, building natural fences, planting, general cleaning and maintenance of the garden. We got to learn about a lot of interesting gardening techniques and could also share the techniques we knew. In the prison, we did some landscaping work, like weeding, arranging a pond with fishes and plants, transplanting lotus. The environnement is very interesting, and all ideas were much welcome. We also had a lot of free time, we visited Singapore for a day, and Shirin brought us to the beach. Thank you for everything !

We spent 11 days at Mama Aldi's place. It was an amazing experience ! Everyone we met was so welcoming and friendly, we really felt at home. Mama Aldi is a wonderful host, always caring, making sure we have everything we need, always joking and happy to share about her story and local culture. She is also an amazing cook, we couldn't stop eating. She is involved in interesting projects to keep the local culture alive and to help the children learn English and traditional dance. During our stay there, we got to work in the garden (weeding, digging holes to plant fruit trees), we helped with the daily English classes that Mama Aldi organises all by herself for the children in the village, we visited the local schools several times to share about cultures and to help with English practice, with the student as well as with the teachers there, and we worked on a wooden shed used for the English classes (building a scaffolding with bamboo, sawing, nailing, painting wooden parts). When we weren't working, Mama Aldi would bring us to visit the region around the village. We spent a day on a boat on the lake nearby, we visited other villages, a beautiful waterfall, we tried even more local food, and we participated in a local party. We also had some free time that we used to walk around the village and the surroundings hills. There's also a well equipped gym nearby that we could use. Thank you so much Mama Aldi for this amazing stay ! It was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. We hope we'll see you again, in Sorowako or in Switzerland !

I had the best time volunteering here. The hostel is very social and feels like a big family with all the other volunteers around. The work consists of checking in guests, cleaning and socialising with guests. The location is also great, really close to the beach and right next to lots of shops and restaurants. I was so sad to leave Kohmunity and would love to go back again one day. I would 100% recommend this place, you'll leave with great memories for life!

Petra isn't someone who likes to sit still. She's never afraid to do any work. She loves animals. It's amazing to see how many tricks she's taught her dog. And she loves horses. Petra has mainly helped us with the care of the horses. And she did very well. Thank you, Petra, for all your help!

Me and my friend Phoebe stayed for 2 weeks and had the best time! I really enjoyed cuddling all the cats every day, their so sweet. Bombarral is a nice calm area with good access to public transportation. Really enjoyed day trips to Lisbon and to beaches and castles. Amy is a great host, really sweet and friendly. I enjoyed sharing meals and learning about her culture as well as sharing my own. Would definitely recommend!

The first day Nienke came to us, she said she'd never before worked with her hands in her life. But that didn't stop her from rolling up her sleeves every day. Nienke is open to learning all sorts of things. She tackles everything, pays close attention, and learns quickly. Nienke is a person who loves company and good food. Thanks again, Nienke, for all your help!

I stayed with Jane, Rod and Yvonne for six weeks and had an absolutely amazing experience. From the very beginning, Jane, Rod and Yvonne made me feel welcome and truly part of their projects. I lived in my own little hut (“Jack’s Hut”), which was cosy, comfortable and surrounded by stunning landscapes. Meals were always delicious and shared in a warm, family atmosphere. The work was varied, meaningful and very well explained: planting native trees and freeing them from the ever-growing grass in the wetland, taking care of the vegetable garden, weeding around the house, creating new garden beds… Rather than being treated as simple labour, I was genuinely included as a member of the team and also encouraged to learn and participate in their environmental education work with local schools, as well as many other really cool projects (community vegetable growing, storytelling walks, artistic projects…). Jane and Rod are deeply inspiring people, passionate about what they do, full of energy, and very keen on sharing their knowledge, values and way of life. I learned a lot, felt useful, and left feeling truly enriched. I highly recommend this Workaway to anyone looking for a meaningful, inspiring and human experience in New Zealand. A huge thank you to Jane, Rod and Yvonne for everything!
