    Description

    Hi I’m jack
I live in an apartment overlooking the beach close to the picturesque town of Ayamonte in the southern most part of Spain. So about me …this is the worst part, talking about myself without sending you away.
This has been my family holiday apartment in which I’ve spent 20 yrs visiting with my girls but now I’ve sold up my home in Ireland and this is my base for the immediate future ..my girls are hooked up with BFs now, so Papa is surplus to requirements.
I wouldn’t be your usual work away host or client …there are so many interesting profiles and family stories I’ve read ..youngsters already travelled the world and fluent in 5 languages and know where their destiny lies…wise heads on young shoulders ..if only that had been me!!
I just recommend everyone take up Dancing Salsa will give us world peace.
I’m not planning on being a typical English ex pat …I don’t play golf or worry about the weather and politics in the UK …sorry not for me.
I’m very outdoors driven ..love the beach and Kitesurf whenever I can ..also like to play tennis ..my piano and persevere at learning Spanish. This is a golden spot for Kitesurfing that I’ve been fortunate enough to meet so many people through …not just the local Spanish lads and ladies but German , Belgian, Portuguese and French …late on in autumn a German family came to kitesurf just on the beach directly outside my flat. We got to know each other and the following day they were trawling the beach picking up litter with their two young sons . I do it sometimes as I think of the beach as my own back yard but this family were just on hols. I thanked them with some typical Irish hospitality the next day and had the family round for drinks and snacks. They loved the flat and I have invited them here next year in October again. But I don’t live and die for these hobbies….if I get into a Netflix series I can easily binge watch on a cloudy day.
For the next 6 months I would like to explore Spain a lot more and take in all sorts of activities I’ve never tried ..I’m open to everything ..hiking ..canoeing ..climbing ..and generally mixing with other locals and travellers.

    About You ….
There are no must haves …just a nice smile and a sense of adventure …
I am hoping a work away guest or travel buddy might have similar interests and be thinking about a living and or touring companion for as little or long as they wish.
If you already had a camper van and just wanted to visit for a coffee or supper and then go on your way, you would be more than welcome, in the same breath anybody needing to fill a few days between workaway gigs and liked a game of tennis or paddle tennis or could hold a tune with me on the piano …be my guest.
In return Mi Casa es tu casa, if you like swimming in the cold Atlantic and getting out with the sun on your back, you won’t be disappointed being here.

I can also teach you to Kitesurf if you were interested.

    The Work

I’m also looking to get 2 bedrooms and a hallway painted …I loathe painting and would just appreciate a little help whenever suits whilst you’re staying. There is some filling and sanding work prior to the painting but I will get that done.
There are some other minor refurbishments that need attention and I may just need help with lifting ..but nothing too heavy

The small enclave where I live is called Isla Canela and this time of year it is really quiet with most of the cafes and bars shutting down until next Spring. It is still beautiful to be here overlooking the beach and the sun shining at least half the days in each winter month. Also, the main town of Ayamonte stays in full swing and is only a 20 min 4-5 km flat cycle route away. There is also a regular bus to Ayamonte for less than €2 that stops right outside my apartment block.
If you like the sound of living or just visiting here for a break in your travels, then please get in touch…If I can’t get to travel around Spain just yet I would still love to welcome travellers from all over the world who have a connection with the beach. My lovely home deserves to be shared by like minded adventurers for as long or short a time as you wish. Just give me some inspiration with the cooking sometimes !!
