Description
Hi, I am Iris and I live with my husband in the region Lazio near Rome. It is a very nice area in the countryside near a small village, but close enough to the big city for nice restaurants, bars, etc. We love horses and care for them. We also have a large vegetable garden , olive trees and are currently building a ranch.

For cultural exchange, we offer an international family (Dutch and Austrian living in Italy), allowing us to share insights and customs from various countries and learn from each other's (food) habits and backgrounds. This is truly about exchange, so we're very curious about the Workawayers who would enjoy joining us. We're passionate about sharing our knowledge of organic fruit and vegetable gardens with as many people as possible. We also love spending time with animals and wholeheartedly want others to experience the same. We can all learn a lot from each other through good, respectful conversations about social issues, politics, sports, art, culture, and so on.
Help
We're looking for someone who loves animals and has experience with (caring for) western horses (quarterhorses). Due to the ranch's construction, there's plenty to do for those who want to work with dogs and horses, but are also willing to help with other little tasks. Think of tasks like painting, carrying things, working in the vegetable garden or olive grove. Plenty of variety to be done. Of course, we can help everyone and we will invest a lot of time and energy in someone if that person is also willing to invest a lot of energy in his or her own development. This includes social and technical skills, as well as learning various languages. We speak English, German, Dutch, and Italian.

We have available a small studio with a living room, double bed, small open-plan kitchen, and bathroom. Workawayer(s) can cook for themselves and occasionally enjoy meals with the family. The outdoor area is large enough to spend entire days outdoors. Most of the food will be free and comes from our garden, with the seasons (enough food from the garden for at least 1 meal per day). We enjoy eating together and will often share meals with the workawayers. However, they also have the option of cooking for themselves if they wish.
What else ...
We are a no smoking family. We eat mainly organic, preferably from our own garden, following the seasons.
