Olimpia and Matt were great to have over here with us. They were super positive and eager to jump into anything and everything. A very "yeah let go do it! " Attitude. They helped with all kinds of stuff while here like planting and landscaping, but I think Olimpia's favorite was doing the demolition stuff. We smashed down a whole building in the poring rain and these two were right in there smashing and pulling with big smiles on their faces. Great volunteers. Enjoyed having them here helping at the waterfalls. Very willing to try and do anything.

Luna is a wonderful girl. From the first few hours she came home, it felt like she'd always been part of our family. She's a keen observer, never out of place, always kind, polite, and respectful. Even in her free time, she spent time with us in the common areas of the house (living room and kitchen), even while she worked on her computer and She never backed down from the children's requests to play with them. I really appreciated every time she involved the children in conversations at the dinner table. She always responded kindly whenever little Davide asked, "Do you like pizza?" to get her attention. Luna is a resourceful girl; for her young age, she's already a citizen of the world, optimistic, and always smiling. We're grateful to have met her and recommend not missing the opportunity to have her as a guest

I struck gold with finding Roger and Brenda, and completing my first workaway experience with them! I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. Roger made sure to go out of the way from the get go, recommending the best way to travel getting to Manakau. They went out of the way to pick me up in Otaki, and a hug from Brenda was such a pleasant start to the experience! They got me all settled in at the hideaway and I instantly felt like I was apart of their family. The work was far more than fair for what I got in return. Work included weeding in the garden, plum picking, tree trimming, lawn mowing, planting flowers, cutting bamboo down into stakes and even attending a market to sell the goods! You will easily find tasks that fit into your skillset and interests, and Roger was great at showing me things and making sure I was comfortable with the tasks. You can expect to... fall In love with mid morning coffee at the Manakau Market, family style games of banagrams, learn all sorts about geocaching and sports, and all sorts of fun quirks! I could sit with these two forever... talking about life, our travels and everything in between! I can't summize how wonderful Roger and Brenda were, you might just have to come and see for yourself! Thanks again you two!

Hello, Thank you so much for welcoming me over the past two weeks. I had a really great time staying with your family and truly enjoyed the experience. I felt very welcomed from the start and loved being part of your daily family life. The work was varied and interesting, and I learned a lot while helping out. It was a wonderful experience that I’ll definitely remember, and I’m very grateful for everything. Thank you again for having me — I wish you all the best and hope our paths cross again one day. I stayed for two weeks and volunteered as a yoga teacher. From the moment I arrived I loved the place, the vibe of the people there and Lucky the owner is fun and chill. There are social events everyday that you can be part of and I definitely made some good friends during my time. I am so grateful for my two weeks at this place and hopefully I'll be back in Sri Lanka soon to come and visit again. All the best!!🌞

Paul is fun and well educated. He learns quickly. While he was here it was winter, and among other things, we harvested basketry willow, and felled some trees for next year's fire wood. Paul was very helpful. Excellent co-operative attitude. You should really try his cooking, we have some new favourite meals now, that we learned from Paul!

We feel extremely lucky that James stayed with us for a few weeks - he is a friendly, enthusiastic and hard working young man who is very collaborative and keen to learn. During his time with us he carried out a number of jobs such as taking care of animals (feeding our chickens and keeping their coup clean) as well as making repairs to the fencing to keep the hens safe. He carried out maintenance jobs around the property (e.g. painting), clearing areas etc. He is also very strong and helped a lot with moving heavy items of storage. James is very interesting and sociable and we had some lovely times together. We hope that he will be able to come back again at some point in the future!

Amazing Workaway experience with Margo and Pearse’s family, who welcome everyone as part of their warm and generous home from day one. Margo made everyone feel valued and included everyone in the special experiences like cacao ceremonies, spiritual retreats, and lake dips followed by sauna sessions — fantastic memories. Not alot of work to be done outside as we had persistent rain fall and on my last night it drop to -4. MY very best wishes to you both.

Mich and Nige are the most wonderful and kind hosts. They open their homes to Workawayers, community members, students, friends, and anyone interested in conservation or a love for nature. Their land and home is a place of learning, sharing, and exploring with conservation in New Zealand from a place of love for the land. Mich shares her experience with forest therapy as a precursor to the work, which makes the work so much more intentional, and she does a great job managing the volunteers and checking in on everyone's needs. Nige also is so open to sharing his knowledge and connecting people with the birds, animals, and ecosystem as an interconnected system. And he is a true adventurer! I enjoyed learning about native plant species, doing some trail building, spending time in the bush, and asking questions about conservation in New Zealand. Also the accommodation (I slept in the outdoor bunk beds) is amazing. The volunteers have their own space and bathroom/shower that are so beautiful. You feel like you are in the bush but with the comfort of a bed and facilities haha. I highly recommend to anyone who are interested in a restoration project that connects people and the land.

Nico visited us for about four weeks in 2025. Nico is a great young person—mature and smart. He’s also down-to-earth and knows exactly what he wants to do with his life. He always pitched in with the work that needed to be done, and he was very handy and knowledgeable with machines and forestry tools. It was a real pleasure having Nico here. We had great conversations and had a lot of fun together. We really hope to see him again. His one pair of boots are still here, and he promised to pick them up soon. Thank you Nico!

We were fortunate to have Damaris and Mathias stay with us for five weeks during the 2025 summer; along with their adorable dog Jimmy. It was truly rewarding to share our home and become friends with them. We spent many evenings together enjoying good food, great stories and inspiring discussions. And our dog Rosie had an absolute blast with Jimmy; the two dogs hit it off instantly and played non-stop. Not only are they wonderful company, but they’re also incredibly hard-working and skilled, with safe and reliable work habits. We wish them all the best and hope to see them again someday. Thank you Damaris and Mathias!

We were so lucky to welcome Anne and Willi to our team during the busiest part of the 2025 summer! They’re such an awesome and mature couple, and they really made everyone else of our Workaway crew feel like they belonged. They handled their work with ease and always did a fantastic job. They were always ready to lend a hand whenever we needed it, and by the way, they’re excellent cooks. Their meals were just amazing! We had many inspiring conversations over dinners and around the campfire. We’re really hoping to see them again! Thank you Anne and Willi!

I spent 4 weeks volunteering here. It was an excellent and completely positive experience. It is an opportunity to experience rural south India first-hand, and contribute to the work of a grass-roots NGO. Mr Anthonysamy and all of his team (in the office, in the field and at the homestead) are all very welcoming, caring and supportive. The accommodation is simple, the food is tasty and all home cooked and the overall environment is just wonderful. I spent time with the team out in the field to experience the work they do first hand: medical camps, eye clinics, farming training, Self-Help groups. My main task was to update the website which was a priority for them. I tried to learn a little Tamil. Pondicherry is on the doorstep and a wonderful place - easy to explore and get around on foot, very safe. My time here has gone too quickly, I would highly recommend this place and will cherish my time here.

How could I begin to describe this experience? Natalie, Patrick, and Enea are very special people. They have a love for animals and nature that I had never seen before. I'm not a vegetarian, but I enjoyed my month being one. Natalie has magic in her hands, she cooks delicious food, and Patrick makes a mushroom risotto that I will never forget, I learned several recipes from them. The schedule is very flexible. I was in charge of caring for and feeding the animals. I had never taken care of goats before and was a little scared at first, but they are adorable! I will always carry them in my heart, along with my ducks ❤️ It was so much fun taking care of them, collecting eggs from the chickens, and feeding the turkeys. The location couldn't be better, It's in front of Lake Brienz, and swimming every afternoon is so relaxing. I explored a lot around Interlaken, as well as Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and all the surrounding villages. Natalie and Patrick are very flexible and let me organize my days off according to the weather. We also went blueberry picking together in a moor. Enea is an incredible child with lots of energy and an explorer's soul, which he definitely inherited from his parents. Thank you for letting me share that month with you. I will always carry you in my heart ❤️
